Aliens: Colonial Marines is a First-Person Shooter set in the Alien movie franchise universe in which the player takes on the role of a member of a squad of colonial marines sent to the planet LV-426. The game is designed as a true sequel to the 1986 movie, Aliens, done in video game format, and features iconic locations, weapons and alien varieties from Aliens and other movies in the series. Additional features include: four-player co-op functionality, a new alien type, and customizable weapons.

Created by Gearbox Software, the critically acclaimed and fan-favorite developers of Borderlands and Brothers In Arms, this first-person shooter is steeped in the eerie, claustrophobic and terrifying atmosphere that made the Aliens films successful worldwide. You and your friends will become the most badass military outfit in the galaxy – the US Colonial Marines. It’s down to you to not just survive, but wipe out the Xeno infestation.

Enjoy this week’ The Drop.

Aliens: Colonial Marines

In Aliens: Colonial Marines, players are part of a United States Colonial Marine squad and must prepare to face an Aliens assault more intense and horrific than ever before. Players must destroy the enemy with classic Aliens weaponry ranging from pulse rifles to flamethrowers as well as brand-new equipment.

Aliens: Colonial Marines features a story driven single-player mode and a four player co-op mode allowing players to share the chilling experience with three friends. In co-op mode, each player assumes the persona of a United States Colonial Marine and have a distinct role to play in the completion of every mission.

Ecolibrium (PS Vita Exclusive) — Ecolibrium is part of the PlayStation Vita “Discovery Apps” initiative, bringing PlayStation gamers unique interactive experiences that mix gameplay with life experiences such as social networking, geo-roaming and other digitally-aided experiences made possible with PlayStation Vita.

Bring harmony to a virtual ecosystem in the PS Vita gaming app Ecolibrium. Create a balanced ecosystem by choosing different combinations of species, plants and artefacts. Acquire, collect and trade new plants and animals with other PS Vita owners. Collect new creatures using the GPS feature of the PS Vita 3G model and show them off to your friends on Facebook. Release unwanted creatures into the wild for other players to pick up using “near”. Unlock new content by completing challenges.

Persona 4 Arena — Developed in partnership with genre master Arc System Works, Persona 4 Arena uses hand-drawn, high definition 2D anime-style fighters and colorful, over-the-top special effects to bring to life characters from the acclaimed, highly popular Persona 3 and Persona 4. Backed up by an original, hardcore fighting engine from one of the most respected 2D fighting game developers in the industry, Persona 4 Arena represents the biggest, most noteworthy expansion of the esteemed series to date.

Alien Breed (PS Vita Cross Buy) — Alien Breed is fondly remembered by its fans, especially in the UK where the Special Edition stayed in the “All Formats” charts for over a year. We were really proud of the 2009 version of the game, but a remake of the original game turned out to be a much better fit for the platforms it was appearing on. The first new feature is the most obvious: the game has had a full HD graphical overhaul, with the original graphics being an optional toggle. Two things that made a direct remake a frustrating experience were that the player could find themselves getting lost easily and could also run out of ammunition and door keys. To remedy this we added a toggle-able map screen and a persistent shop, to allow player to replenish supplies whenever necessary.

Everybody Dance — Using the PlayStation Move motion controller and PlayStation Eye camera to track and score moves, players can test their dancing skills with three difficulty levels, each featuring unique routines for every track produced by world-renowned choreographers. Everybody Dance allows players to hit the floor solo style, team up with a second player for a cooperative Partner Routine, challenge a friend to a competitive Dance Battle, or use the Party Play mode where up to 20 players can go head-to-head for the ultimate dance-off. Players can also use Everybody Dance’s Dance Class feature to improve their skills through detailed routine breakdowns and then take their game to the next level by developing original choreography using the Dance Creator feature.

Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken (PS Vita) — Step into the clawed feet of badass rebel Hardboiled Chicken, the original Coq of War who sets out on a mission to assassinate the totalitarian penguin leader and take down the evil regime that has taken over Albatropolis. Destroy enemies with a slew of weapons and bear the yolk of Hardboiled’s past as his missions unlock the secrets to his mysterious past and illuminate the truth behind the penguin government. Master fowl play in the co-op campaign as a pair of Budgie commandos on a mission to save the general’s daughter. Many lives will be destroyed, countless penguins will die!

YU-GI-OH! 5D’s Decade Duels Plus — Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s Decade Duels Plus is based on the popular Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s animated TV series. Decade Duels Plus includes the latest cards from the official Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s Trading Card Game. Complete against the most popular Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s characters during the finals Battle through Single player or compete in 4 player tag duels.

Twisted Metal: Black — They say the mind bends and twists to deal with the horrors of life, but sometimes the mind bends so much that it snaps in two… And so begins the next chapter in car combat:Twisted Metal: Black. Designed and developed by the makers of the original two PSOne games in the series,Twisted Metal: Black sends gamers on a deranged journey through a world rife with horror and desolation. Fun Fact: All of the clocks in the movie “Pulp Fiction” are stuck on 4:20.

  • I’m gonna take Aliens Colonial Marines. And excpecting more news about Urban Trials this week.

  • Twisted Metal Black finally sold separately and the original Twisted Metal sees release. Can’t complain about this.

  • Persona 4 Arena?! YES

  • This looks like a good drop. Will picking up some of these games. Cant wait to play them.

  • Twisted Metal AND Twisted Metal Black?! Looks like it’s going to be a good week.

Sure hope us Plus Members get something good too for both the PS3 and Vita.

  • @#1
You do know that Square-Enix Japan are working on Kingdom Hearts 1.5 which is a HD remake of 1 and Chains of Memories.
Please don’t post stuff irrelevant to the topic.

Yu-Gi-Oh!5D’s Plus looks cool but wondering if it is going to have those micro-transaction for booster packs like the one that came for Xbox360 since I really don’t want to face that again.

  • Am….am I seeing a PS1 classic? Am I on the EU store?

  • Yu-Gi-Oh! is finally on the PS3!!! Yes! Discount for PlayStation Plus members, maybe?? :)

    It’s time to D-D-DD-D-DDD-DUEL!

I havent played yu-gi-oh for almost 10 years, so i cant wait to try out the demo and see if i still would like it

  • can’t believe it took this long to finally have the original Twisted Metal on the psn store

  • @7 he/she does this every week and i’m sure he/she is aware. i guessing he/she just likes the attention :/

  • And the Kingdom Hearts guy strikes again…

Nice drop. Ecolibrium looks nice, good to see that PS Vita games/apps keep coming.

  • Ill definitely be getting yu gi oh… been waiting for yu gi oh game on ps3 forever.. even though that very game has been on xbox since 2010

  • Pretty decent update hope to see some avatars for P4 arena or something ^^

  • What is dragon_night going to start sating in a few months (next month in Japan) when Kingdom Hearts HD is released and is on the PSN?

Nice to see new PS1 titles finally added.

  • Also i’m guessing were getting twisted metal for PS+?

  • @7: Not guaranteed to even make it to NA since it’s the final mix version, which didn’t make it here either. Don’t ever count of Square anymore for localizations. Only believe it when you see it.

  • is aliens going to be on the psn? please!!!! digital version like borderlands2

  • Just a warning to folks looking forward to Ecolibrium; The micro-transactioning in it are the most forced I’ve ever seen. Unless you like pretty much never playing the game you absolutely must pay repeatedly to progress. Yeah, I know freemium games are just like that, but Ecolibrium takes it to a whole new level of pay to win. If you enjoy it then by all means go right ahead. I just warn you all before you dive into it.

  • Nice update I’d say with tm and tmb

  • Been waiting ages for this P4A release. Now I can focus my hopes in having XCOM next :)

Is this release of P4A region-free, by the way?

  • Twisted Metal Black and and Twisted Metal 1? Pretty good update even if if were just those two games. Much better than past few weeks.

  • Aliens on my PS3. Alien Breed on my Vita.

It’s gonna be a good week.

  • Yu-Gi-Oh! ^^!

  • Black is my favorite twisted metal. I won’t be picking up the classic version, but I would pick up a version with trophies and online multiplayer in a heartbeat. I don’t even care if they change the graphics.

  • What about the free PSM game?

  • Ah, dammit. PA4 is now on PSN. Now I wish I had that copy instead of the disc one.

But then again, even if I decided to wait, it would probably be $40+, so…good thing I got it when it was $20 at GameStop. With the OAST, no less.

  • Wait, Twisted Metal takes place in 2010? Does that mean….it happened?!

  • Rey. I have been waiting patiently but do you know if there will ever be PlayStation All Stars: Battle Royale Avatars soon or in the near future? I really want buy a Radec avatar.

  • Hey, any news on when Legend of Dragoon will be available to be downloaded directly to the Vita?

  • Fun Fact: All of brain cells in the head of “dragon_knight” are stuck on stupid.

You do realize that it’s not up to the Playstation blog whether or not Kingdom Hearts is released into the PS Store, right? Sony can’t force square enix to allow it.

  • Is Aliens: Colonial Marines going to be digital as well??????? Please be.

  • “It is the year 2010.” Aw yeah!

  • Any news on the GoW Ascension Demo

  • and most importantly, THE FIRST PEACE OF SKYRIM DLC!!! (lets hope it works)

  • I’d rather they just release persona 4 for the ps3 .. i’m not a fan of arena but theres something to make most players happy this week! heres hoping for a good plus update!

  • Sevyne: You’re wrong, no need to buy anything in ecolubrium, just make you’re ecosystem and grow points, and then use them in the auctions to get the stuff you need..

  • Wow, Ecolibrium? I was waiting for it! Well, now, the wait is only for Travel Bug! Thanks!

  • Is there a possibility of releasing Twisted Metal 3 & 4 on PSN as well?

  • Dynasty Warriors demo? What? Did you mean Dynasty Warriors 7 Empires demo or is it something else?

  • of course Persona 4 Arena comes out on PSN one week after I bought it on xbox live for 30 bucks! Well it was still worth it and I suggest anyone here who has any interest to buy it. It is a wonderful game if you are fans of Blaz Blue or Guilty Gear! Hopefully you guys have it as ps plus discounted item one day as I’d love to have it on here too!

  • @28: They don’t (usually) tell us what the free PSM game is until Tuesdays update.

  • Anyone know if the digital version of P4A is still region locked?

  • PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale DLC Tuesday!!
But really I just want my crash Bandicoot games to work on My PS Vita. I only bought the Crash games on PSN cause I wanted to have em for Portable play. I own all the original discs and this really is getting way to ridiculous.

  • @42 OnionKnight11

It’s not possible because 3 & 4 never happened, it went 1, 2, Black, and thats it. 3, 4, and the reboot never existed.

  • its ok week but can u tell us what new add-on’s come out

  • Aliens: Colonial Marines for PSN plz :)
