PlayStation Plus: Sign Up For a 1-Year Membership, Get 3 Months Free

PlayStation Plus 12+3

We’re continuing to bring you great offers here at PlayStation to start off 2013 right, and our latest deal can help you take advantage of everything PlayStation Plus has to offer for the rest of the year and beyond. For a limited time, we’re giving you three extra months of Plus at no additional cost when you sign up for a one-year membership.

The time to become a PlayStation Plus member couldn’t be better. We ended 2012 with the addition of PlayStation Plus and the Instant Game Collection on PS Vita, for a combined savings of $2,472 for the year. That includes free games and discounts for both PS3 and PS Vita, and we’ve got plenty more plans for PlayStation Plus in 2013. Yesterday we released our brand new Classic White PlayStation 3, which comes with a huge 500 GB hard drive (plenty of room for your Instant Game Collection). The Classic White PS3 package also comes with a voucher for one year of PlayStation Plus — if you redeem the voucher during this special promotional period, you’ll receive the bonus three months of free games, discounts and exclusive features through PlayStation Plus. And those of you who are already reaping the benefits of PlayStation Plus are in luck—you can stack your membership to take full advantage of this great offer!

This deal won’t be around forever, so make sure to act quickly. We’ll be offering the PlayStation Plus 1-year (+ 3 months) deal starting now and running through March 4th. Oh, and don’t forget to check PS.Blog later on, when we’ll have more Plus news, including a new addition to the Instant Game Collection.

See you on PSN!

  • Well, mine was expiring in the April, so I was gonna hope we would get something like this or a free game like in the past, so I will renew as soon as I have the cash to do so. But being plus through July of 2014, seems counterproductive with that next gen console out in the developer world.

  • at 44 sony could add Resistance Burning Skies, ModNation Racers Road Trip, Unit 13, Escape Plan, Rayman Origins, Little Deviants, Lumines Electronic Symphony, Mortal Kombat, MLB 12 The Show, Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus, Plants vs. Zombies, Ridge Racer, Shinobido 2, Since Mora, Dokuro. Any of those games would be welcome by me.

I’m not asking for Little Big Planet, Sonic&All Stars Racing Transformed, Ragnarok Odyssey, Persona 4, Playstation All Stars Battle Royale, Assassin’s Creed Liberation, Need for Speed Most Wanted, Oddworld Stranger’s Wrath HD, Call of Duty or Metal Gear because i dont think those games are coming to the service anytime soon.

  • for the content that you bring to PS+, i don’t even want a year free for a 3 months sub! lol
But you offer (sometimes) some sweet ass deals, i’ll give you that

  • are we getting the new blue ps3

  • It isn’t that Vita owners are complaining just to complain. The last to games for Vita have been Chronovolt (41% on metacritic) and Fooseball 2012. I normally don’t complain and like the interesting titles they give out, these kind of updates are just unacceptable. They could give one of the hundreds of PS1 and PSP title that work on the Vita and that would be fine, but when you feed people garbage games that no one would buy otherwise, that is just bad business practice and many people are going to write in about being upset. A lot of people feel that they pulled the old bait and switch with the content.

  • I would personally rather see a 25% discount off the $50 price for a year then have the equivalent value added on in extra time.

I’m now jealous of Sleeping Dogs. But what I really want is Themes and Avatars.

  • great deal Sony – thanx … my year ends in March, so will definetly take advantage of this offer – puts it at about $3.20 / monthly …. I have a question – I have 3 1 month codes for plus from the BF Amazon Vita bundle … this weekend I attempted to redeem them. as I am concerned about providing my actual CC info – (your site has had security issues) I went off & got a PP Mastercard … I tried 4 x to input the code & provide the CC info & each time I got an error message … I then tried to use the PP card on another site to make sure it was active & indeed it was … do you not allow PP CC for plus redemption codes ? thanks for any info ….

  • Resubscribing!

  • Also, for those who are contemplating joining Plus because of this deal, you would be joining at the right time, as we will be having our Gamers’ Choice Awards soon, and the discounts from that sale alone will be worth the investment, unless you own most of the games that will be on it, like I believe will happen to me this year, but if you lack Journey, The Walking Dead, and other such games, a discount will be happening in the near future on this spectacular games.

  • Is there any way you guys here on the US blog can update as quickly as the EU blog? I mean they already have the whole month of February listed. The trickle of info we get so frustrating.

  • Great deal! I am good until 2/14 and I am tempted since subscriptions stack!

  • dead space 1 free on ps + please.

  • Morgan, not sure if you’re in a position to answer this, but you’re an all-round svelte gentleman, so I’ll give it a go. Given that a year’s membership would likely take users into the next generation of PS home consoles, is it safe to assume that PS+ will continue on PS4/Orbis?

    • First of all, thanks for adding a new word to my vocabulary =) (svelte)

PS Plus is here to stay, so you can stack with confidence.

  • the discounts for + members are my highest priority – I really appreciated Unfinished Swan @ $3.75 … for folks who purchase PSN content, buying a membership totally makes sense … I guess for people who only want the IGC, it is not as valuable …. I owned my Vita (my original unit) since launch week – so when the IGC for Vita launched, I owned all the games with the exception of Jet Set Radio & FF …. but I still feel the discounts make it worthwhile … I snagged Hot Shots for under $9 …. can’t go wrong there.

    • The value of Plus is definitely the entire package. Free games, Discounts, and exclusive features (auto downloads, cloud saving, access to Betas, etc).

  • Hey guys great deal. I was wondering, I have PS Plus on my other account but lately I been on this account. Now if I get PS Plus on THIS account will I still be able to play the PS Plus games on the other account if PS Plus expire?

    • I don’t think so. Your Plus membership is tied to your account; so any content that you were able to access via your old account won’t carry over to a new account you make that has Plus.

  • Ah man I just renewed my subscription last Monday, had i known this deal was coming back i would have waited

but either way its a great deal

  • That’s just great I was hoping you would of offered this back in December when my PS+ subscription was going to end, I had just renewed my subscription on December 7 because it was going to run out the 8th.

  • Been waiting for a reason to go full-year, been month-to-month up until now. Definitely going to grab this. Thanks!

  • even with the 3 free months, i’ll have to see some better games in the plus update the next couple weeks before i decide to add another year.

  • Will it transfer on the Ps4? ;)

  • i’m hoping Demon’s Souls will be free 4 EU PS+ sometime in the future

  • Good news

  • @XpAcErX

We used to get the PS+ for US information a month at a time. What it lead to was posts that whined that the whole month stunk and PS+ was worthless etc. Basically the same thing as happens now, but it was decided then that they would go to a week based posts to give it more excitement. Think of it as a weekly birthday present.

They might go back to a monthly post, but that is up to them to implement.

  • Like others have questioned, some clarification would be nice if where the subscription is purchased matters. PSN or a card?

  • I’m really tempted to be a plus member because of this but, I just bought ni no kuni and I don’t see any new free plus games along with this subscription promo. I will still wait for more free games and if they will put great games for plus within the promo’s time period, then I am sold. :)

  • Cool, waiting for the game update today now.

  • Eur Plus:
    6th February: Sleeping Dogs

Please, we are receiving trash for months and months, give us good things, please.

  • just added 2 years my subcription expires nov 2014 how much more can i add and will it carry over to ps4 ?

  • Ok, Morgan. Was this necessary to use a whole post? I mean it could of just been on the actual update for plus. I hope this isn’t just the actual update

  • Just picked this up Saturday, was wondering why this wasnt promoted sooner =)

  • of course membership is tied to the acct. & Sony will carry it over to the PS4 … can you imagine how upset folks would be if it didn’t … I doubt they would choose to upset the consumer base by not allowing their membership to transfer / include the newest console.

  • @TwinDad – Hmm, Honestly. Monthly or weekly, There is still going to disappointment but waiting weekly for it is null. But at least they should do monthly bc of the discounts a lot of people I’ve seen were ripped off the opportunity for a discount that came across merely weeks after the games release. Know What I sayin? hahaha

  • I was just going to ask “what about who already subscribes to it” but then I read the “stacking” part. It would be quite obvious, but I never thought about that :)

  • @nv_Los – Could of been mentioned on the blogcast. Not sure,

  • I’m thinking about adding to my PS Plus time (expires 10-13) but I’m worried about how everything will transfer to the new console. Has anyone heard if our current PSN accounts will transfer to the PS4 and whether all games available for download will be compatible with it? Would hate to add a bunch of time to my account if I end up getting a PS4 and having a bunch of stuff on my download list not work with it. Thanks!

  • Hey Morgan, Can I buy MULTIPLE 1 year subscriptions and get an additional 3 months for each year I purchase?

    • If that’s something you want to do, you can certainly do it. So if you buy 2 years, you’ll get 3+3 months free. As long as you do it anytime from now, until 3/4.

  • Im currently only 2 months in to my current yearly subscription, I would like to stack it with this deal. My only problem is if the PS4 is released late this year(as we all know it probably will), and it doesnt roll over my PS plus subscription to it. Now I would have well over a year of wasted subscription. What kind of assurances do I have that I wouldnt be wasting my money? Even if it did roll over, if there is no backwards compatibility planned, all the games I had amassed previously would be useless too. Conundrum…

  • Hi:
I believe this are GREAT NEWS! I’ve read some people complaining about the Games SONY has offered to us. Well, I have Uncharted: Golden Abyss, WipEout 2048, Gravity Rush, Final Fantasy Tactics and some others.. for FREE! Those games are extremely AAA and I appreciate what they did. I know some games aren’t as appealed as these ones but, eventually we will have them. If NOT, remember that we still have the opportunity to play ALL the games we “bought” for free just for being PS+. Right now I’m enjoying Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for PS Vita with a PS+ discount and I love it. Anyway, I just bought a Membership last december but of course, I will stack this opportunity.
I would like to see some PSP tittles like Patapon, Ridge Racer, Patapon 2, LocoRoco or Castlevania.. (THAT would be excellent).
    Red 5.

  • well, based on what we seen this last MONTHS, this could be a trap, and a bad one. They are lending us cheaper, uglier and older games, the discounts are simply awful and there is no real advantage being Plus. Of course, the service isn’t that bad that you wouldn’t find a nice game or a nice discount here and there. I’ve been a subscriber for a long time now, and I know that the PS+ was never worse than it is. So, offering this deal would be a way for Sony to do whatever they want without having to worry with three months memberships, with so many ‘nothing for me this week’. we are going for ‘nothing for me this year’. hahaha. but, of course, I could be wrong and that’s a way of regaining some of the folks that have left Plus (and I guess there weren’t a few ones).

  • Ok, when are you guys start releasaing FREE avatars again in the EU Store havent seen any new FREE avatars in AGES

  • EU just got Sleeping Dogs for February, a GOTY nomination for 2012.

  • EU plus cost more the the US one, so why shouldn’t it be better.

  • @Morgan Haro

Awesome! definitely gonna stack my sub this week. this is now the 3rd time in a row I’ve timed my resubbing to PS+. 1st,. I’d got the Jurassic Park series free, then the 2nd time, I got 2 additional months….now I’ll get 3 months this time. Definitely worth the value, no matter what any detractors go on about. this service has paid for itself numerous times over the last few years. sure, I may not have played every game that I’ve received from PS+, or certain games may not be my thing normally, but the idea behind Plus is to maybe play something you would have overlooked before, while having access to betas and huge amount of discounts.

  • I defintiely have to thank the Plus team for Fooseball 2012. I tried it out on my launch PS3, had quite a fun time with it, despite the last time I touched a Fooseball of any kind was over 13 years ago. Surprisingly, it’s quite addictive and presents a real chalenge at the Master levels. I had to put it on my Vita just to play it on the go. I’d always been ultra careful when playing on it before, but Fooseball actually made me grip the Vita like it was my PS3 controller. it was a great feeling to treat it like a full out console.

Thanks again for all the great value and games!

  • 9 dollars more to be exact, at least that’s the premium I paid when I got my Euro account. Exchange rates fluctuate daily so your argument is irrelevant.

  • @89 they got Sleeping Dogs already?! >_<

@90 yeah but they were also given various 25% off Plus subscription offers during 2012, that we never got. So its not like they were paying that full amount the entire year.

  • Great deal! Buying it will keep me in the games till 2016…

But what I really came here for was a PS+ discount for Bayonetta! Please make it so, Morgan!

  • @Dreadaxe

They pay a little under 10$ more than Americans for the full year, divide that by 12 and you have less than a buck more per month. Are you saying that for a buck more they deserve a significant increase in the quality of the offerings than American subscribers?

  • Will we be getting a game like Sleeping Dogs (announced today for EU’s Feb plus) in our Feb Plus line up?

So far we’ve never gotten a game as good as that, but they keep getting them.

So any chance our next PS3 Full rental game is of that calibur?

Or should we expect more of the same 5-10 dollar old games from the bargain bin (not saying they’re all bad, but all cheap and old compared to the EU selection).

  • Wow!

My membership is expiring at the end of the month too, I couldn’t ask for better timing.
