The Drop: Week of October 29th 2012 New Releases

On PS3 this week, it’s a time of civil unrest and political upheaval in the Americas. As a Native American assassin fights to protect his land and his people, he will ignite the flames of a young nation’s revolution. Assassin’s Creed III takes you back to the American Revolutionary War, but not the one you’ve read about in history books. On PS Move, Sports Champions 2 revives favorite features, including the surprisingly deep and challenging single-player Cup Play and the customizable Free Play mode, plus fun arcade Challenge rounds for each event.

On PS Vita and PSN, you’re a cunning new assassin – Aveline, an assassin of mixed French and African heritage. You must use your skill, instinct and weaponry – including a machete, poison-dart blowpipe, and duelling pistols, to hunt down and eliminate your enemies in Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation.

Also on PS Vita, Need for Speed: Most Wanted is the 19th release in the long-running Need for Speed franchise, and the first for the PlayStation Vita. It hearkens back to the earliest games in the series as players compete in races with police unified against them. Enjoy this week’s The Drop.

Players become an Assassin in the war for liberty against ruthless tyranny in the most stylized and fluid combat experiences in the franchise to date. • I hate to break it to you but ZOE2 always had framerate issues. lol. Many times on the PS2 version it would slow to a crawl. I dont care. It was still an awesome game

  • Awesome week for the Vita. I’ll be picking up AC3L and NFSMW immediately after work tomorrow.

  • Rey, good Job at the Drop! I would to request the following for future “Drops” if its not a hassle:

    1. File size of the Game.
    2. Price
    3. Trophy Count
    4. Exact time of PSN Store update

    thank you very much!

  • Wow…my Vita cup runneth over this week. Can only get one this week and really torn between nfs, liberation, and ragnarok. Thanks Sony, EA, Ubisoft, and Xseed for such a strong showing.

  • Assassin’s creed III Liberation or Ragnarok Odyssey???
A hard decicion. I want a good and long game to wait Persona 4 golden… A good week.

  • @137-ItaChu
Seriously Grandpa, everyone is entitled to there own opinion even if you dont understand because of a generational gap. ‘Back in your day…’ lmao!
Maybe you guys still game on an SDTV or just need to update your eyeware perscription but framerate does matter to some of us (@126-WilHiteWarrior).
(109-Bloodios) is just offering his opinion and putting the proof out there to help those of us that it matters to, and I greatly appreciate that. Thank you.
Personally (as a gamer and someone who occasionally work in the game industry) I think if we held game makers responsibly for half-ass projects more often by voting with our dollars and demanding better, we wont end up with so much ‘shovelware’ like the Wii did.

  • Isn’t the Zone of the Enders HD Collection also coming out this week? That’s what I’ve been most looking forward to.

  • ZOE HD Collection are the type of games that deserve better, in my opinion. It’s unique in its genre and has loyal fans who will support it. That’s why ZOE3 got the green light and is it the works :)

Further more, I think 126-Bloodios is just disappointed that ZOE HD didn’t receive the great attention some of the other HD remakes did. I know I am. (and WilHiteWarrior stated earlier that ZOE on the PS2 had famerate issues) well an HD remake would be the perfect opportunity to fix this, don’t you think?
Are you going to tell me to go enjoy COD as well? Perhaps you should find something legit to complain about grandpa, there might be some kids on your lawn.

  • omg omg omg omg!!!!!!! twisted metal finally arrived, thank you sony!!!!!!

  • im seeing AC3 on Vita priced at $40 on Amazon and Best Buy websites.. i would expect the same with PSN… and the PS3 version of AC3 is $60… tough pill to swallow when ya want both games, which i do… looks like i’ll be waiting a bit.. am also midly interested in NfS:Most Wanted, but same story on the price of those games.. something else ill be waiting on…
only other release this year i want is Far Cry 3, but thats looking more likely a PC purchase… havent completely decided yet.. just wish i could afford them all when i want them…

  • Hey so can we download the DAY 1 DIGITAL at midnight tonight? (I’m thinking of AC:III)

    Also can you preinstall them?

  • I understand getting games on the PSN is tricky, lots of clearances and sign-offs, but once they are, can you PLEASE cptime it better? Games big enough for midnight release aren’t available on PSN until nighttime Wednesday, you have to understand that you occasionally lose sales on this alone.

Also, in this new era of digital, please list games’ file size, it matters, esp on the Vita.

  • Will I be able to download one of these games at 12am on tuesday? For example AC3 and NFS are coming out tomorrow so Im wondering if I will be able to download them early.

  • Seriously, update PSN at midnight or something. We’re suffering through a Hurricane over here in the East coast and it would be nice to enjoy AC3 & other games for atleast a few hours before our power goes out or something (assuming our power goes out at all before PSN updates). And I mean look at the blog here, people are/have been asking for it, give us what we want, not like there’s any consequence for a midnight PSN update (Or atleast not that I know of).

I’m sure this post will be overlooked (not a single reply in this topic), but had to try…

  • To add on, particularly for AC3, Gamestop releases it at midnight, and other stores released it much earlier already. Many fans would love to download it from the safety of their homes at midnight tonight, and the EU PSN already has it up for download and are just waiting for the unlock when PSN updates at midnight (from what I understand). Why cant the same be done for the US PSN? Why do we have to wait so long?

  • So many upcoming great games! Its going to be a fantastic holiday season.

  • Expensive week!

  • @Capt_Ramz
Yeah I know it wasn’t meant as an insult. I’ll concede that it should run @ 60 fps but its not such a big deal to me that I’ll refuse to buy the game over it. It’s honestly not noticeable to me on that video. My comment about ZOE2 always having framerate issues was simply directed at the people saying the framerate is worse than on the PS2 version and thats just not so. lol. From what I’ve seen its worlds better than the PS2 version. I always had serious slowdown issues at that particular part especially

  • I’ll probably toss Frobisher Says temporarily to try out the demo for Smart As. I’m looking forward to using my brain while playing games again. :D

I already pre-ordered Most Wanted for my Vita with Gamestop so that will be my limit for now.

  • Soo happy Ragnarok Odyssey will be on psn tomorrow. I pre ordered the Mercenary Edition and can’t wait to play it and don’t wanna wait til Nov 6th…Will definitely be picking it up tomorrow! Hopefully it will be 39.99 or less like the retail edition.

  • Where are all the good demo’s? We are about to cross into November, and I haven’t seen a single demo for a game I’m interested in this fall. No NFS demo. No Assassins Creed Liberation demo. This year reminds me of 2007 when you were lucky to see a demo of anything.

  • Very excited to Re-Play Okami HD one of my all time fave Games!!!! gotta thank Capcom for this one still missing Beautiful Joe in HD tho hope it comes out anytime now XD

  • Finally a healthy dose a Ps Vita games coming out it’s about time, going into the holidays competing against the 3ds.

  • is Ragnarok Odyssey still coming out tomorrow?

  • Assassins creeeeeeeed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Ive preordered ac3 liberation and ac3. Cant wait to pick it up
I have very high hopes that these games will be really good, and im sure they wont let us down. AC3 and AC3L!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ #153 Edgar_Allen

Oh, that’s an excellent suggestion. I was thinking something similar, myself. File size would definitely be a great help, especially for us Vita owners.

Rey, can you put the bird in the air that there is interest in a bigger memory card for the Vita? Lol. This is going to get hard after a while. I’m rather fond of digital only for my handheld.

  • cant wait for assassins creed on the vita.

  • For everyone that does not no AC3 liberation MULTIPLAYER is A CARD STRATAGEY GAME IT IS NOT ANYTHING LIKE “BROTHERHOOD” OR “REVELATIONS” IT IS A STRATEGEY BASED GAME WHERE YOU TRY TO CONQOUR CITIES THERE IS NO ACTUAL GAMEPLAY INVOLVED SAD TO SAY BUT I BET THE CARD GAME WILL BE FUN IM EXITED TO PLAY IT AND AM NOT DISSIPOINTED IN ANYWAY REALLY!!!!!!

  • AC3 and Okami HD, too many good games too little time for me lol. I tried to finish AC2 this weekend but couldn’t lol. I wish AC3 had some kind of bonus for day one purchase.

  • @153

    1. File size of the Game – Varies, but haven’t seen any game bigger than 15GB.
    2. Price – Varies
    3. Trophy Count – http://www.ps3trophies.org/ would have a list of games with trophy lists.
    4. Exact time of PSN Store update – Varies

This wouldn’t be a bad idea to have actually.

  • What? No ZoE for the playstation network?! :(

  • the only im hiper up for this week is wwe’13 but vrey good update better then xbox and wii keep’em comeing man

  • I’m hoping Okami HD has the original final ending credits movie in the game, and not some lazy port of the wii version of Okami HD.

  • LOL at everybody who’s like, “Oh cool, Okami is out. I missed that on PS2. I’ll just grab that huge, 40 hour epic and… the new WWE game.” Playing it pretty casual while making such a big commitment. It’s a shame to consider how many people are going to buy this gorgeous HD remake of Okami and probably never finish it or even really scratch the surface.

  • Any idea when Final Fantasy 10 will be released for the PS2 Classics? It was a greatest hits game back in the day. I would really love to play this game again on the PS3.

  • Dark Cloud as a PS2 Classic ……….please!

  • @184 Square Enix is currently in the process of an HD remake of FFX so I doubt they are going to release it as a PS2 Classic and then release an HD remake.

  • The AC III liberation and ragnarok odyssey will both cost 39.99, both of them buying on the ps store today (which hasn’t update yet…) looking forward to the playstation plus on vita as well, i know sony will do some great things :)

  • When does the psn store update? I don’t see Okami anywhere.

  • Like the person above me… wondering where Okami HD is. AC3 is there just fine but O-HD isn’t. The only thing that comes up in a search there are Okami avatars.

  • Can’t wait to pick up Ragnarok Odyssey. So glad to finally be seeing the Vita getting som good games. Any news on getting the ‘Champions of Norrath’ and ‘Champions: Return to arms’ on the PS3 and/or the ‘.hack//quadrilogy’. Also the ‘Kingdom Hearts’ games for the PS2 on the PS3 and ‘Birth by Sleep’ as a downloadable game with Vita compatibility.

  • NO DEMO NO BUY! STR8 TO GAMEFLY! ACIII and NFS Most WAnted, pinned in a corner with handheld rivals and the lack there of support for the PS Vita and you still blindly sell us stuff without a test run. 8 to 9 months since release and the dual analog handheld with the guts to KILL’em ALL still sits on one FPS game Resistance BS. I have to admit BS did have awesome DLC MAP PACKS…….wait a min, it never had that….oops. I hope COD kills Resistance BS……WTF? Who’s making it? Nihistic? Same devs that made that POS BS? Wow can it get any worse? Shut the front door! Nihilistic Is making it then moving on to something else? DLC? Looks slim? Asking a lot you say because it took so long to release a patch for BS and still got it wrong? Hi I’m common sense and I approved this message. Vote No to rape my wallet!!

  • f Sony wants PlayStation Vita to sell they need to make consumers want to buy it.

The consumer that doesn’t purchase handheld consoles: Have all PlayStation 3, PlayStation Network, PS2, PS1 and PlayStation minis games with “cross buy” and cross save as the bare minimum. If it’s possible, have a way to have Remote Play be universal for older games if “cross buy” won’t happen for them.

Consumer who just cares about unique games: The only games that are exclusive to PlayStation Vita are games that can only be played on PlayStation Vita because of the PlayStation Vita exclusive features, for example, Tearaway, Escape Plan and Smart As to name a few.

Consumer who wants a good mobile OS and “smart” device: Have the PSVita be a 5″ tablet as well, have a good mobile OS, features and a good app store.

All consumers: Non overpriced and fair priced memory cards, games and accessories and digital copies of our physical movies.

I will only buy a PlayStation Vita if that becomes true.

  • Typo on “Nobunaga’s Am(b)ition”

  • So, are we gonna get an ACIII: Liberation download? Or is the only digital version the one bundled with ACIII?

  • Why Max Payne 3 Hostage Negotiation Pack DLC is in the New 3D Releases?

  • I’d like to see some older PSP titles appear for digital download. Off the top of my head, Star Ocean: First Departure, Star Ocean: Second Evolution, and Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth would be great. I’d buy all three on day one.

For the time being, I am not convinced that buying a Vita is in my best interest because it would mean discarding many of my favorite PSP games and PSOne Classics.

Consider this – many people resort to illegal methods of playing older PSP titles because there is no legal option. Why not let yourself in on the deal? Release more of the PSP library on the PSN. Players get their games. Sony gets their money. Everybody wins.

  • Also, I agree with #192. Champions of Norrath and Camptions: Return to Arms would make great additions on my PS3.

  • By the way guys, I don’t know why or if I just got lucky, but I have The Legend of Dragoon on my PS3, and it shows up to be transferred to the Vita from the Content Explorer, I transferred it over and it works fully, no issues no nothing, so why isn’t it on the store on the Vita?
