Once again, we’re here to brighten your Monday with the weekly update on incoming Plus content this week. So far in October, NFL Blitz joined the Instant Game Collection and Plus members received some discounts on Alex Kidd and Spelunker. This week, please join us in thanking our friends at Atlus for delivering the legendary King of Fighters XIII, free for Plus members! These updates will take effect with the October 9th (that’s tomorrow!) PlayStation Store update.

King of Fighters XIII captured the attention of the fighting game community at this year’s amazingly salty EVO 2012 fighting game tournament. That said, we’re happy to get this deep fighter in to the hands of Plus members everywhere! With tons of play modes, a refined, faster paced engine, over 30 beautifully rendered and animated characters, all with great online play; this is one fighter you won’t want to miss.     I never post on the blogs but after spending some time on the europe blog, I must say i am also disappointed with the selections the US plus members get. They pretty much have everything we get in the US and then all those full games as well. But at least Walking dead episode 4 is being released so I will have something to play for a couple hours this week. I might try KoF XIII but I am not a fighter game person. Double Dragon and Scott Pilgrim were some of the worst selections made in my eyes since subscribing to plus. Games I would like to see are, Resident Evil’s other games of this type genre..

    Very awesome free game this week. KOF XIII. The KOF series is one of the best and logest running fighting game series out there besides the street fighter series. Two massive hoofs up /) (\

    WAAAHHHH the free game this week doesn’t cater to my specific tastes, even though that would mean that it wouldn’t cater to someone elses!
    I’m quitting PSN+! I know i said this last week and the week before, but this time I mean it!
    Why can’t you be more like Microsoft, and force me to pay to use my own internet to access the multiplayer side of games that I bought!

    You also mention the previous plus having 2-3 games available at any given time like it bears any significance. The only time the amount of available games matters is the month you sign up. After that all that matters are the games you get every month after as long as you are subscribed which is still 3 games MINUS the minis and psone classics. The instant game collection only benefits first monthers because the availabilty of 12 games or so to DL through Plus at any given time doesn’t even matter because once you start to download them they are permanent so as long as you are subbed. It’s not like the previous plus or current removes your games or anything. Just ticks me off when you say those things about the instant game collection because really it doesn’t mean much of anything and is terribly misleading.

    A couple more Walking Dead episodes would be timely.

    I just recently got ps+ and am excited about everything that it will offer in this year. I am really excited about the ps+ for vita as well. I enjoy trying games that I wouldn’t normally buy(i.e. blitz & KOF). Keep up the diversity and I will be very likely to renew next year. I made a EU account just for my vita to try some of the games they have that we dont mainly ecolibrium. That game is a good concept. I wish t@g would work with the WiFi version of the vita since I use my phone(4g LTE) as a WiFi hot-spot all the time. Am excited for many of the upcoming vita games as well as some of the ps3 games more so very excited for Dust 514 release.

    Morgan, I am not a ps fanboy, nor a box hater, but you guys have a get product with both the ps3 and vita, and PSN/SEN is amazing. Keep it going strong, and please see if they can do something about the 100 app limit on the vita.

    So at least we get it first before everyone else.

    I voted for games playable only on Vita, because I have a PSP, and when I buy a Vita, it’s to play Vita games.

    But I’m not entirely opposed to PSP games. They should be limited to one a month or something. Ones that benefit from Vita’s controls would be best. Don’t just give us any old game. Give us stuff like Resistance or the Syphon Filter games that can now be played with the dual analog controls. At least that way, those of us who already played them on PSP can play them in a new way.

    I wouldn’t want to see Minis or PS1 games. I’ve had more than my fill of those on PSP.

    First off: Hi Morgan. (That’s to get you to reply to me)

    Second: Not a fan of King of Fighters, but oddly I felt pleasantly surprised by the addition, so I am not going to complain about the free game this week.

    Third: However, I am still going to complain about the differences between the EU & US PS+. Seems like my prediction in last week’s post is wrong.

    Fourth: Seeing how few replies we are getting from this post as compared to before, I think Morgan you have to admit that it is a sign that there are more complaints than ‘awesome update!’

    Fifth: LOL @YungShep. You jumped ship pretty fast. Took me two months to switch from defending US PS+ to flaming them every week. Welcome to the dark side. Now you know what we are complaining about.

    Maybe something is in the works and things are going to change for US PS+ but Morgan, I don’t think people are going to wait for that.

    It was reported that when the IGC was announced, PS+ subscribers doubled during that month. I wonder any one of those will actually renew their subscriptions, cause I know for sure that most who are already subscribers BEFORE the IGC was announced are sure as hell not going to renew their PS+.

    It may take only 2 seconds for that IGC announcement to bring in a lot of new customers, but keep doing this for a few more months and SCEA will lose a lot more of their loyal customers, people who had faith in Sony even before IGC was introduced. We were the ones supporting you guys all these while, and now you are turning us away. Not a good business decision.

    In fact, you guys are dropping the ball week after week, month after month. If Donald Trump is the boss, you guys would all be fired by now.

    Don’t get me wrong. I still like Sony. I still like PS+. But every week is like ‘not again’ or ‘sigh…’

    It used to be that every month I boast to my friends how many or how great the games I was getting from PS+. Now every week is like ‘whatever… they ain’t gonna change…’

    Do you remember, Morgan? Do you remember a simpler times, when you announced Silent Hill, an old PSOne game, and everybody went ‘COOL!’ ‘AWESOME!’ ‘Hell Yeah!’

    Or when we got NFS: Shift 2 Unleashed.

    Or Castlevania. Or Final Fantasy V. Or Awesomenauts. Trine 2. The entire Crash Bandicoot series.

    I am glad I got to know PS+ before the IGC. At least then we had some great times together. A distant memories now, but as a wise man once said: it’s better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all.

    Nice! Though, it would be all kinds of nice if KoF:XIII was cross-playable with the Vita. Same for Outland, Castlevania: Harmony of Despair and Scott Pilgrim vs The World! I feel like a lot of the PS3 PSN titles could be ported to Vita format, maybe assign the L2/R2/L3/R3 buttons to the different corners of the touch screen/touch pad, or something.

    It’s not being demeaning son, it’s a little thing called “tough love”. And it works. I’ve helped many a goofball become better people through humiliation. In the end, they always realize. Like a muscle that tears and becomes damaged, it heals back stronger than it initially was.

    As for you, this is the second time you were a little “too hasty”. The first instance was obvious. This one a little more subtle, but still, the apparent “I’m taking the high road here, while you’re just an immature scrub” angle that you applied to our conversation is a blatant contradiction to the supposed qualities of refinement and sophistication that you attempted to encourage. I suppose it was that hastiness that kept you from realizing that you had just put your foot in your mouth. No worries though. We all make mistakes.

    My advice for you would be to maybe tone down the ego a little bit. Because NONE of us are as important as we like to believe. We’re all insignificant specks in the universe. Just keep it real, son.

    Because looking down your nose at people in a snobby manner is definitely lacking in the sophistication and maturity department. More so than a supposed “name-caller”. Sometimes people really are being what other people call them. If I spit in your face, you’d have every right to call me a jerk. It wouldn’t be just a “name”, but a proper label in that case.

    You see, there ain’t nothing wrong with calling things as they really are. Some people really are spoiled little brats, or turds, if you will, of course using that term as a synonym for the wide range of any other similar adjectives you could place there.

      usually I get fairly busy in the day and can’t be on the comments as they roll in through the day (I do more things than make blog posts guyz) , but I usually give myself a 24 hour window to go through all the responses and respond to pertinent posts and questions.

      But overall, most people seem to be responding positively to the update, but some will always feel the opposite, but I’ll do the math like I do every week, and keep an eye on the sentiment stats. so hopefully you’ll continue to see some good stuff coming down the pipe that will appeal more to ya.

    I understood the EU comments from last week, but complaining about already having bought a free game or that it doesn’t appeal to your specific taste is a little ridiculous. If I were to buy some of you some chocolate ice cream, you’d complain it wasn’t vanilla and vice versa.

    I for one and I’m sure many others are excited for KoF XIII.

      Basically, gaming tastes are subjective, so what works for some may not work for others. But overall, the majority of the people like the updates; but some don’t and that’s usually how these things go. (trust me I do the math every week)

      So there’s not much I can say to “I don’t like this game” except to continue to work on ways to help Plus members feel rewarded with their membership all the time. A tricky challenge to be sure.

    A little late to the conversation, but here goes…

    I love my vita. I’ve had it since launch, and have bought more games for this thing than any other gaming console I’ve ever owned. However, from an overall point of view, the vita has sold poorly.

    PS+ has seen a big upswing in popularity recently, largely due to a bunch of free games. It’s a great service, especially for casuals who haven’t bought every major release in the last few years.

    You have a unique oppurtunity to incentivize vita console sales to consumers who currently aren’t even interested in the thing by giving them a library of games to play.

    My suggestion would be to focus on free vita games at launch. 2 – 3 solid launch titles (wipeout, unit 13, Rayman origins NOT reality fighters or modnation racing), followed by at least 1 decent retail and 1 psn release (sumioni, escape plan) per month.

    I would also love to see deep discounts on psp and ps1 games. Again, you need to include some of the good stuff (Gow, gta, corpse party, ff etc). Run them for one week each, to keep people checking the store on a regular basis. 

    This reduces the barrier to picking up a vita for every one of your subscribers. I’m sure most vita owners would be greatful too. Just my 0.02 PSN wallet credit.

    For what it’s worth, I want to be able to upload PS1 saves to the cloud, so I can easily transfer them from my PS3 to my Vita and keep them synchronized that way.

    And there’s no reason not to have free PSP games, just like we get free PS1 games on PS3 Plus.

    This a real useful update with great many aspects:

    1.KOF XIII is a great game, didn’t got much (if ever) discounts, desired by many gamers and more of all, first fighting game to the instant collection, which makes it awesome addition.

    2.Revenge of the shinobi for $1 is a MUST BUY, especially that it is not added in SEGA’S ULTIMATE COLLECTION, wish u add many LEGENDARY SEGA MEGADRIVE/GENESIS games in HD with trophy support like: Aladdin, Shadow Dancer, pink panther, quackshot, castle of illusion, micky mania , death and return of superman, demolition man, Maui mallard, growl, micro machines, page master and list goes on.

    3.Deathfin, it’s great to have another exclusive with a discount, but in fact i need to see more of it to buy.

    It’s very good update, hope u make sale on KONAMI stuff, like TMNT, Xmen, Castlevania and a bit of discounts or a sale for PS1 games, like %50 – %70 would be great.

    Fair enough, Morgan.

    But I think most of the complains aren’t really about ‘the game’s not my type’, rather EU is better than US.

    I know there isn’t anything much you can do about it and I don’t think it’s fair that you take the brunt of complains every week, but all I can say is they will keep coming until either all of us have unsubscribed, or US+ is moving in a similar direction to the EU to minimize the difference in the ‘quality’ of games provided. I sure hope it is the latter as I am still a fan of PS+ and is not willing, in the very near future, to give it up.

    I only can hope that things will go uphill from here, and I am eagerly anticipating the PS Vita’s inclusion into the PS+ subscription.

    Like I said to you before, a Plus update is supposed to be a happy occasion, not one to be laced with malice.

    I’m actually kinda excited to play King of Fighters XIII, later today. Tbh, I never really liked the King of Fighters series but since this is free, this may be a turning point about what I view on the series. I mean, it’s cool and all but I just don’t like it. Lawl, I’ll probably take back what I just said after playing it but whatever.

    As for the PS+ free content that’s being given so far, I admit, I complain down the line but overall, I deal with it anyways. I’m actually satisfied with the free content that we’re being given but I’m not saying this should be as is. US PS+ content should be up to the par as EU PS+ is. I mean, they got Red Dead Redemption for free and even I think that’s cool to have. Also, like I said before, we haven’t gotten a free PSone Classic for a long time. Maybe we should get one PS2 Classic for a change? There’s a lot of people not happy about the content that you guys are giving us and it must be looked into. We’re losing faith on those who are planning to not continuing to subscribe. Don’t get me wrong, I love this service because of all the features it has and I’m willing to extend my subscription, so as long as we get awesome free content.

    Another PSN+ game I have no interest in :(

    Hopefully there will be something good in the next month, because it’s been a long time since there was anything I was really looking forward to play. Last one was Walking Dead, but I hope you’re planning on adding episode 3 & 4 soon!

    Some other games I would like to see are some of the games offered in the EU region, like Dead space 2, Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Red dead redemption! But I wouldn’t mind some other games like Joe Danger,
    Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Rayman Origins, Killzone 3, Demon’s Souls,

    @Diablos2525 How about you think before you say something, before start attacking and disrespecting people. I was talking about Value for Money.. but even if we talk about quality, I was comparing AAA titles with PSN games, of course the AAA games will be the bigger more polished experienced…. and if you compare their ratings, you get the same results. I would tell you to use YOUR brain, but i’m afraid you need one first before you can do that. (and i didn’t like the games you named at all, deleted all 3 after playing them for the first time)

    @Ross_on_PS Nicely shown! Makes the difference in quality and value of the games we get compared to them even clearer. Good job!

    rayman origins free for vita please? is it too much to ask?
    and i would really like some ps1 gaming collection like resident evil1,2,3 . sillent hill, crash series to be provided in the vita update.

    Unlike many, I think we should get PSP games for the PS+ on PS Vita. Because there are tons PSP games worth playing. About half of the games on my PS Vita are PSP games, and they look great on that screen. I really hope to see some free PSP titles next month.
