In one day, we will release Dishonored, our new first-person action game developed by the talented team at Arkane Studios. Dishonored puts you in the role of Corvo Attano, bodyguard of the Empress of Dunwall. A pretty good gig… until you’re falsely accused of killing her, kidnapping her daughter, and subsequently imprisoned and tortured by the sinister Lord Regent. Despite this, you remain the best hope for saving Dunwall, where plague is rampant and the city is on the verge of dystopia.
Early in your adventure, you will receive “The Outsider’s Mark” — a mysterious tattoo on your left hand that grants you supernatural abilities. As you progress through the game, this mark will allow you to unlock new abilities, each of which can be upgraded to a second level for improved functionality.
Below is a look at two of the development team’s favorite abilities:
Devouring Swarm
Devouring Swarm summons a vicious swarm of rats that will consume corpses or attack the nearest living thing. Level two summons a larger, more vicious swarm of rats.
Wind Blast
Wind Blast releases a powerful blast of wind, knocking your enemies off their feet. This power will also douse fires, shatter wooden doors, and reflect projectiles back at the enemy who fired them. Level two increases the power of the blast.

For anyone wondering how the PS3 version of this game stacks up to the other console version, a comparison video was put up on n4g earlier this morning. It runs as smooth as silk, and looks identical….if anything, the PS3 version looks to have better lighting.
And you people bashing a developer because Bethesda offered them the best publishing deal is just caddy and ignorant. Besides, we all know the REAL reason Bethesda “can’t get Skyrim DLC working on PS3”: a large check signed by MS, because that’s all they have this generation….money to throw around that they don’t mind wasting.
Don’t hold MS’s dirtly business tactics against a developer who has nothing to do with another company’s secret back-door deals.
I just purchased dishonored for ps3 on the PSN store, and I am hoping I won’t regret this decision. Keep in mind guys that Bethesda publishing is actually Zenimax Online studios they just changed their name because they own Bethesda Softworks and wanted the name recognition.
I have a 360 and a ps3 and quite frankly the ps3 is a better system, has a more mature community(slightly), and makes solid machines/products/better deals (xbox ring of death approached 50% of consoles effected…Ps Plus>Xbox live Gold). My understanding is that main problem is that Ps3 isn’t like a PC and is harder to code for, on top of the fact that the ram isn’t dual channel. So PS3 gets ported games that don’t take into account the ram difference or utilize the Ps3’s more powerful cell processor and slightly more powerful graphics engine.
Skyrim was buggy to begin with add to the fact that it was ported to Ps3 rather than developed separately for Ps3 and now they are running into Ram issues with the save files. Hopefully I won’t regret buying Dishonored for Ps3.

All that I am worried about is that the PS3 version is up to par, but otherwise the game looks amazing and I am looking forward to it.

I would hope pre-loading would start sometime today if possible … but if not, midnight release would greatly be appreciated, that way, I can start downloading it and go to sleep after.
Sony, it would be nice to know if we can download this early and if not why not? Just a simple explanation as to why you don’t allow predownload for a preorder?

I have bought Dishonored and the ACIII+Season Pass+ACIII Liberation bundle!! So my $100 bought on PSN in October and get $20 back is done! :)
I am hoping this game gets at LEAST a midnight release. I would love to see preloading, as well. Steam does this for me all the time but I opted for the PS3 version this time (i try to keep my logs even on PC/PS3).
Sorry Jeff stated on another blog post that Dishonered will not be released at midnight and will be released tommorow with the store update. That means no pre order perks no midnight release and we have to wait until 7 pm eastern time for the store update. We will be playing this game 11 hours after launch, talk about a waste of money i have been loyal to sony for a very long time since the ps1 days but this looks like a move microsoft would make at least their updates are early in the morning. I love you sony for many many years but you guys have taken advantage of your loyal customers and did not even put up a post stating that pre ordered games would not be midnight releases, you waited till the last minute to tell us thats a low blow. I was stuped enough to pre order Dishonered and Doom 3 bfg thats a mistake i will never commit again this happens to us for trying to give support to you guys. Well thanks for opening my eyes and finally realize that what’s important to you guy’s is money not us customers. You are turning into the dreaded money hungry machine microsoft God help us.

I’m one of the idiots who pre-ordered this for digital download assuming it would be available in the morning. I feel like such a fool but I’ll get over it.
This look like a nice game, but i’m seriously tired of the bugged games you guys release each time, so this time i will wait a few months before buying this game.
Given the experience PS3 owners had with Skyrim, I’m less inclined to buy a Bethesda title on PS3. Can you let us know if you guys have enough coding skill to make DLC for us?

I have to agree with everyone else, if we have to wait until the PSN update for the game then I see no advantage to pre-ordering a digital copy. I really fail to understand why content can’t be pre-loaded so that the PSN update goes live at Midnight.

Even on my connection’s best day I’m not downloading 10 gigs in less than six hours — so — update happens at seven, I get the game (playable) the day after release — and this little experiment with PSN is done, and won’t be repeated, and believe me I WILL BE TELLING EVERYONE I KNOW to eschew this format until the bugs are worked out. Since there’s no way to get a refund for this now that they’re actually admitting that there’s not going to be an ACTUAL RELEASE DATE COPY OF THIS GAME AVAILABLE TOMORROW that you will be able to play — I have no recourse, of course.

Why not put that on your stupid advertisements? Because it looks like the ad reads ‘SAME DAY’ and should read “DAY AFTER” or ‘SOMETIME DURING THE SAME DAY, WE’RE NOT EXACTLY SURE, JUST GIVE US THE MONEY’.

So Day 1 digital download means I probably won’t be playing until early on day 2 because this will take several hours to download even on my connection . Great. So ,granted I saved some money on the game but I won’t be able to play it until early the following morning if I’m lucky ?

No more Day 1 games for me. Resident Evil 6, Doom 3 BFG and Dishonoured all being played at the end of the day on release day. No DLC, no pre loading, poor delivery. Awful. Awful start to this great “idea”.
it should be that if you pre-ordered the game , you should get it at midnight of teh release date and not have to wait till psn updates the store.
I agree. It’s a shame it wasn’t a midnight release on PSN. Especially considering that some of the Day 1 digital releases are midnight releases.

I’m glad Sony is learning and adapting to the industry, but you guys need to be more nimble with implementing, what have become, expected features and much more transparent with information.

They should really call it “Day 2” Digital because the Playstation store doesn’t update until 6pm here usually, so a full game wouldnt be done downloading and installed until day 2. This is a big disappointment as a Playstation+ user because I pre-ordered Dishonored, and can’t get it until the end of the day. I won’t be using this pre-order service again until it is truly “Day 1 Digital”

I pre-ordered the game, expecting to at least play it in the morning if not midnight and now i’ve shelled out the money and i have to wait an extra day? I could have been to the store and back by now to get a physical copy! Some reward for placing my trust in a title before release.
If Sony values their customer’s loyalty they’ll have an answer to all this.
Yep… I’m never doing this again. So pissed. Walmart is 3 miles away. And ALWAYS has the games ready @ 12:01 am on release day for purchase (I’ve even been able to get it early a few times if I get the right person… but they have been cracking down on it).

How hard is it to schedule an update for 12:01 AM Easter time? I can tell that it’s pretty easy. I work in IT for my company and we schedule updates/price files/markdowns/etc to be send down/ready at 12:01. We don’t have to because stores don’t open until 8/9am, but we do because it pretty F*ricken easy. I can tell you this, the monkeys that are working for sony and the stores update will not be able to work for my company because they lack any kind of standard or structures.
How you gonna let someone buy it early… and then give it to us LATE!?!?!?!?!
Listen guys sony doesn’t give a crap about us, it’s obvious because we have been waiting for an answer for 2 day’s know and they still ignore us. They will not worry about us waiting for a game that we have pre-ordered, they do not care that we will be playing this game about 10 to 11 hours after launch.
