Sackboy Popping Up Early on PS Vita

Hi everyone – production on LittleBigPlanet PlayStation Vita was completed earlier than expected, and due to the excitement from our retail partners, some have decided to put it on shelves as soon as the product was received. You’ll still be able to fully enjoy all the offline features of the game, but the servers will not go live until September 18th. We apologize for any confusion this may cause and will keep you posted on any further updates.

  • hard copy buyers are more important because they are buying the software that they’re putting out there.
if they dont sell software they then they wasted money putting it on the little card. hell i wont be surprised if they said.

“we’re p*****g you off, youre p*****g us off.” lol excuse the languge

  • Digital gets Sony much more money. Retailers alone take a sizable chunk.

  • lol i’d cry with you but i know not to put my money on my account until the thing i want is available

  • Grisley, it’s the thought that Sony couldn’t give less of a **** about what the digital buyers want.

You surely cold admit, that there are quite a few people wanting LBP Vita out on PSN this tuesday.

  • To use this analogy. Imagine if I had two kids and a cookie jar full of cookies. One of my kids gets caught trying to take a cookie. Out of compassion not only does he not get in trouble and I even allow him to take a cookie. Then the second kid comes and asks if he can have one, and I say no. DD customers are the second kid. And yes I’m hungry.

  • A good analogy, I’d say.

  • hey so if you were apart of the competition do you also get pre order bonuses or not and how much will the online pass be in the store (:

  • It was announced at Gamescon that there would be an LBP Vita bundle, yet I cannot seem to find it anywhere to order. Is there any news on when the bundle will be available?

  • Hi everyone,

Longtime member and first time poster here. I have to agree with everyone and say that this isn’t cool. Though I have a physical copy of LBP Vita I fail to see why digital owners have to suffer. Since the physical copy broke the street date, so should the digital version. Thanks for listening.

  • Just left Bestbuy, where they told me it would be “illegal” for them to sell me LBP Vita before the 25th, even though they pulled it out of the backroom.

  • I went and got the game, but when do i get to use my other objects and costumes?

  • I most certainly won’t be buying it until the online pass in it has been gotten rid of.

  • Everyone R E L A X!!! Wait until the release date and all your costumes….dlc….etc will be working. Believe me when I say you will be rewarded huge as this is the best LBP game so far. I’m not a fan of the online pass either but it’s in the game case so I’m not sure what the big deal is….unless you are upset because it brings down the resale value?

Thx for another great Little Big Planet game. Together with Sound Shapes we have two great games for the VITA with unlimited content. Nintendo and Microsoft don’t give their customers that option.

  • + forest1903
you do realize you get the online pass when you purchase the game new digital or physical right?

  • Weren’t you people expecting to get the game on the 25th? wasn’t that fine for you? what’s with all the whining now, STFU and wait to get your game at the day you were just fine waiting for until the last couple of days…geeez

  • Sony, if you want the PlayStation Vita you have to do what you should do and what consumers want from PlayStation Vita.

Ability to play out PlayStation 3/4 games on our PlayStation Vita whenever, wherever, with no need of an internet connection for either console, without having to have the disc on the PS3/4, without the PS3/4 having to be on and without having to purchase the game twice.

Exclusive PSVita games that can only be played on the PSVita and use features that only the PSVita has.

Digital copies of our Blu-ray/DVD movies.

Video game console and tablet hybrid with a dedicated app store.

Improved multitasking, example: using our browser no matter what we are doing, wether multiple things at once or multiple apps running in the background.

3G for Latin America. (Claro, Movistar for example).

New PSVita model with L3 and R3.

    Smaller and larger PSVita models.

  • I hope that Sony either does not send Gamestop very early copies, or at least releases other preorders, because right now unless you ordered from the one retailer, you are seemingly punished for it with a delay until Everyone(!) was supposed to get it in the first place

  • @swweet Stop complaining if you want the game then buy the game!If you want the digital copy thenwait! Its not Sony’s fault nor does the retailers they both agreed to release the game because the retailers got excited…
Hope you don’t sue me too,we all want something in our lives but it won’t happen in a blink of an eye…

  • Did everyone else noticed that the code on the box on LBPV saids that it’s the pre-order bonus?

  • I was buying digital and from now on I am 100% retail. Why? No, not because of Little Big Planet, but Wipeout 2048, Hotshots Golf and BlazBlue, all on sale for U$20, and Resistance Burning Skies, Mortal Kombat, Marvel VS Capcom 3, Ninja Gaiden, U$25-U$30 each. Nice to see we get full price on most of them over PSN. I’m done. Thanks Sony.

  • Oh, good grief. Now you think you are somehow “being punished” because Sony is releasing the game on the date they had always intended to release it on? Please. Go to GameStop’s website and complain if you must. Ridiculous. They haven’t delayed the game, you are still getting the game exactly when it was promised to you: Sept. 25th.

  • Does anyone knows a brazillian store that is selling? :/
also, is the game good? i loved LBP2

  • Awesome! This Will Be One of Little Big Planet’s Best Games! I Can’t Wait!

  • The problem with this scenario is that Sony is treating retail and digital consumers differently. Those who want to purchase it retail are allowed to, while those who wish to purchase it digitally are forced to wait until September 25 do to an arbitrary policy. While this may have started from Gamestop selling early, Sony became responsible as soon as they agreed to accept retailers breaking street date. These situations occur from time to time. If Sony had not acknowledged the situation and quietly allowed Gamestop to continue selling the game then they at least would have plausible deniability in this situation. By coming out and acknowledging the early sales and not only not condemning them (not that I believe Sony would have done this) but assenting to selling the game early, Sony has essentially established a new Street Date for the games retail version. What Sony has not done, is allow digital sales. I am interested in buying LBP Vita digitally, but I am not upset about having to wait another week to do so. What I am upset is that as a digital consumer I am being forced to abide by a second set of rules that my retail Brethren are not.

  • Wish they could pull the digital release to Setember 18 :l

  • @174 I’m sorry but its improbable too happen…

  • I went into gamestop to preorder it, late, I know, but I wanted to make sure I got the preorder bonus. I told the guy I wanted to preorder and he said that it was already out and I was like “Whaaaaat!?” So I clearly got it right then, but I didn’t think that I had gotten the bonus. But it turns out that the game just has a preorder redemption inside the case, so I’m happy. I played the intro but I’m super busy and haven’t really gotten to get into it yet. But I’m excited to start!

  • Good to know.. I really need new experiences on the Vita. I actually thought they would have released Tekken Tag 2 on the vita.. guess not.

  • Got my copy here in the US on Friday. Had it pre-ordered. Playing through story mode now so I can pump a level out before the servers go online! So glad for this mix-up =D

  • Would someone please tell us if the code on the box is for the pre-order DLC…

  • Pretty please can we have Little big planet digital for the Vita. We don’t have anything this week for the Vita, and it kinda upsets me. I love my Vita, but now I know why no one wants to buy it. Bring out more games and you will have more people buying it, then the other game companies will be making lots of games too, I read the whole story on Vita and I don’t want to loose it meaningI don’t want it to fail. But it will unless more games to take the power of the system come out, Call of duty Black ops 2: Declassified will bring in more peple along with sly cooper, Assasins creed 3, and many more but we need those know so they can start selling. I love my vita and get thing only on digital download, so that’s why I want Little Big Planet vita out one week early. Also Thanks fo the great system I appriciate what you guys have done, I play The Pinball Arcade on it all the time and other games too but wantmore to show it off.

  • @panootz Your name is funny, anyway you’re right,we need more games like LBPV.I’m excited to see how much LBPV boosted the sales of the Vita…

  • So, can we still “pre-order” LittleBigPlanet Vita and get the bonus DLC?

  • Shibi, that is now my go-to explanation to why this is messed up.

  • I got my copy on Tuesday but the BioShock DLC code does not work. Do I have to wait till the 25th?

  • I ordered my hard copy from amazon. Still not sure why I didn’t just go digital but oh well. I was expecting to get this on the 25th so it’s no biggie I’m not getting it early. I wish amazon would ship early but if they choose not to I’m ok with that. I’m glad I have gamefly though.

  • I do wish all stars and resident evil anthology would release early though. With anthology ill get 3 re games on my vita at a massive discount. And the double dip cross buy for all stars makes me weak in the knees. I use my vita way more than the ps3.

  • The game is fantastic! The touch controls work perfectly for the LBP series! Another reason to LOVE the Vita!

  • Totally excited for the online play. This is a prime example of why I traded in my 3DS for the Vita. Got tired of waiting for games. XD

  • Mr. Levine, I usually disagree with the complaints Sony seems to get weekly but with LBP Vita releasing physically at retail nearly a week and a half early but still not releasing on PSN until the 25th as planned you can bet damn well this is the one time I AM going to post a comment. I’m directing this comment at you since you’re PR manager for SCEA. Hope it will make a difference. This makes ZERO sense to me honestly. You guys pushed PSN DD with Vita BIG time around it’s release. ‘m a huge supporter of physical media but in the case of LBP Vita I thought ya know what I’ll give you guys some support on that initiative and buy it PSN. You guys push for PSN support and now all of a sudden the physical cartridge version gets it’s street date lifted by Sony THEMSELVES. It wasn’t a case of a retailer being a smartass and doing it..They actually waited for you guys to authorize the lift on the street date and allow for sales. Next, you guys are saying you can have it early physically..but we’re sticking to the 25th on PSN but yet turning on the online features a week EARLY. Makes NO sense. As a PR manager, I do hope you can understand the issue. When you do something like this it needs to be both retail AND PSN….

  • So, here’s what really needs to happen on Tuesday..turn on the online features that day plus PSN release too. It’s the right thing to do by your customers at this point. The cat’s out of the bag. the lift was authorized by Sony THEMSELVES. You guys speak of “Oh it’s terribly difficult to move these dates around.” In reality, it’s not. ALL it took was one authorization by Sony and retail sales started. PSN release? It’s even easier. It’s an EBOOT file you drag and drop into the server, for crying out loud! Honestly, it should have gone up on PSN Friday night to be fair to everyone. This is about the ONLY way to make things right now. You can bet this will make me think twice about PSN support for Vita games in the future! Do a meeting tomorrow, whatever you have to do because right now SCEA can use all the good PR it can get. Just do ONE right thing by your customers please. If 3rd parties have an issue with early PSN release then make it right for them so they’ll be okay with it…

  • Finally..you want us to support Ragnarok Odyssey and Persona 4 via PSN? GIVE us reasons that show that’s a good idea..just get this game up on Tuesday. If you do this I’ll continue to support PSN. If not, as stated earlier I’m going to have to think real hard about that. You can’t have it both ways right now..physical retail release but still 25th for PSN. It’s not good business sense, it’s not good PR. Not a great time to try to have your cake and eat it too. For me to post a comment this lengthy Mr. Levine it takes a GOOD reason and I hope I provided it. Thank you for reading this.

  • P.S. I DO have to praise you and the SCEA team for PS Plus however! Plus has been totally and completely worth my money and has paid for itself at least twice over this month alone! I give credit where credit’s due with that certainly and have zero complaints with Plus. You’ll continue to get my support with Plus for sure..PS1 for sure..PSN exclusive games definitely. Vita? depends what happens in the next few days. You’ll still get Vita support from me, it might only be physically though. Up to you. Ball’s in your court. Not just with me but lots of others right now I’m sure. But I did want to prasie Plus though while I’m thinking of it!

  • swweet would you shut the hell up? Your posts are half of this blog post’s comments.

  • This seems too similar to the Ratchet and Clank Bundle. I can go to the store and buy the disc for 29.99, or I can buy off of PSN for 14.99…for EACH GAME IN THE BUNDLE. Again, PSN users will get the bundle price on that magical date of 9/25. WTH SONY? First that, now this. Buying physical media for the PS3 isn’t all that bad. However, having pushed the download model for the Vita (and my preferred way of buying as I don’t need to carry cartridge after cartridge when I want to play), it’s now SONY’s responsibility to at least have parity across all packaging of its software…price, quality, release dates, etc.

    Very sad.

  • Is LBP only available in American retailers or everywhere? ‘Cause I live in Canada..

  • I don’t have much doubt that Sony pushed out this release to get people interested in the Vita.

Still Sony is effectively killing the system.

-No PSN Plus support (yes- we are waiting). This doesn’t even need to be Vita games; PSP, PSOne, Minis, anything would be welcome.

-PSN prices now exceed the store. When I bought the system I loved the fact I could buy games online… the memory cards might be pricey but the games were cheaper. Now, I have to buy an expensive card and a more expensive game. PSN pricing should at minimum match major retailers (if not undercutting them).

-Sony talks about cross platform purchases. How about starting now? God of War PSP versions and the PS3HD versions would be a great start!

    -Lack of game releases.

  • its so annoying that you don’t give us the digital version early as well. I buy my games digital only!

  • what time tomorrow will the servers be up

  • This game is amazing!!!!got it yesterday. But i have a question,a one time message came up with a link on how to transfer lbp2 costumes into lbpvita.my question isnt how to,but will i have to wait till the servers are up to do this? or can i now?THANKS!
