  • Good addition…I never liked using the browser for YouTube.

  • HAH!

How was the Vita left out in being a remote? Would have been incredibly nice to promote your own products.

  • Thank you

  • FINALLY!!!! Thank you!!!!!

    Next is Spotify app !!!

    HBO GO !!

    ESPN !!!!

  • make a real browser and Sony will sell more ps3 we don’t need apps for things that are on the web but they want to make more monye on there own apps like who is stupide too buy music or movies anymore when most of it is on the web for free if u now how to get it ;-) sell your hardware Sony make a real browser and sell the ps3 as full on computer game system

  • No remote love for the Vita?

  • About Damn Time.

  • youtube and I don’t have to use the browser anymore? Sweet deal8)

  • Better late than never! Now my PS3 will be on even more often than normal.

  • Thank you so much, I cannot express how happy I’m to have a native youtube app on PS3, keep them coming!!

  • I thought it already had an app for this. Shows how much I use youtube.

Still more apps are a good thing, so thank you.

  • Yay! I hated the using using youtube from the browser

  • This is awesome! I have YouTube support on my blu-ray player, but it sucks. Can’t wait to try it out on the PS3. Now all we need is the PS1 support on Vita like you guys have been promising for God knows how long and we’ll be good.

  • Finally Sony! What took you so long? It still makes no sense that there wasn’t a Youtube app until now….

  • Hooray! I’ve always used Youtube in the web browser, and it often was glitchy.

  • this is awesome, big screen hd =3. imma love it. and for those asking about hd, How about you look at the frikin article instead of skipping straight to the comments, seriously. the second video on the first picture says “The Cribs-Glitters Like Gold (OFFICIAL) VIDEO) FULL HD” seems pretty self explanatory to me.

  • Good job. Like others have said, in the future it would be nice to see a browser update as well. Shouldn’t these be able to work on vita/ normal psp as well in theory?

  • *Kool-aid man voice*

    Ohhhhhh YEAAAAAAH

  • So, when is this app supposed to roll out today?

  • @tech_ninja

When they do the store update today. Last few weeks have been much earlier than the normal so maybe not that long of a wait.

  • and this is why we love sony so much, did i expect this today? no! you just save me time from turning on the laptop just for youtube XD

  • About time, a good addition, but about time!

Now we need Chrome for PS3 & it would be a browser worth using!

  • It’s about time that the Playstation 3 has YouTube. I already have it for Vita but PS3 was awful for awhile and now hopefully the YouTube App on PS3 will clean up any issues that people might have had on their web browsers.

    Thank you
    Playstation

  • so where is the app!? can’t see it

  • Awesome. And without having to pay for a stupid subscription (Live) in order to use it.

  • you guys should make it so you can use the smartphone pairing with ps vita too

  • Instead of a smartphone, how about letting us use the Vita also?

  • when europe ?

  • A little late? Could never figure out why people wanted youtube anyways. I have Cable TV/DVR as well as a home PC that believe it or not is still connected to the internet. so there’s no use for this to me anyways. but to each his own I recon. ummmm YAY!!!

  • Those of you asking for a new browser, you know Sony replaced the browser a while ago, right? It most certainly Is a “real” browser now, but that has nothing to do with how well YouTube works in the browser, as it uses Flash, and that’s never going to get better on PS3, or on anything else for that matter. Flash is dead. Adobe is working on replacing it with tools that generate HTML5. That’s still a ways off though.

And no, the PS3 browser will probably never support HTML5, because if it was practical, it probably already would since the browser is Webkit-based, which supports HTML5.

  • i bought a ps vita to read whats new for ps3….

  • Woohoo this was mainly my idea when I put the idea in playstation share.Thank playstation!

  • Only one question: does is support 1080p video?

  • Reiterrating the comments about being able to use the Vita as a remote or even a second screen for the PS3 YouTube app. Definitely a big win if that happens.

  • Yes!! I was about to get a new streaming device after I got rid of my cable service, now I don’t need it, this app is saving me some cash :/

  • Sweet.
I really didn’t like the online version of YouTube so I’m excited for this! :)

  • This is definitely awesome news! Thanks Sony! I watch Youtube all the time on my ps3 to the point that it crashes the system! lol Is this available in Canada today? If so, I’m there! Can’t wait to check this out. Sony rules! That’s all I can say! Good job!

  • Its about time

  • Wow. This is.. 100% completely useless, worse than any browser on the most flimsy EeePC, and of course a complete waste of time compared to just updating the browser plugin instead.

You’re really doing this just to annoy me personally, aren’t you? What’s next – make sure Lair doesn’t work on the ps3 anymore, because your focus-groups hate the controls?

Oh, wait – you already did that. How silly of me.

What about removing random functionality, and then refusing to answer to any amount of consumer bureaus, with the local retailers referring to their mailbox in Malaysia? Like – “what, a product? We just sell this thing! We don’t have any idea what’s going on with the software, that’s the main office! We don’t have any responsibility for it, and neither does the British office! It’s the guys in Malaysia!”.

Oh, wait – you already did that too!

But now we have a youtube app. Just like Xbox. And the browser is of course not updated, so now it’s almost as good as nothing! So that’s all right!

Good work, Sony! I’m sure I’ll buy your next console, based on this amazing experience!

  • Wow, I was actually about to whine about not having this on PS3 a few days ago. Great to know you guys were working on this all along. :)

  • @thetrainjob

That’s not completely accurate; does your android phone run youtube like the ps3?

    @fleinn

I know what your saying, I just assumed that there is some undisclosed issue that made them decide to do this “work-around”.

I still see this as a positive, more than I can say about anything released in the last several weeks/months.

  • lol well youtube will no longer be on apples ios so i guess they moving to sony now

  • Fantastic! I hate using the web browser for YouTube. It’s great to finally see a native application for it!

  • I’m again assuming NORTH AMERICA includes us Canadians? Because this is not always the case, in fact, I don’t know why you even call it SCEA anymore. It should be called Sony Computer Entertainment US and Canada If We Feel Like It (SCEUSCIWFLI).

  • bout time Sony starts making good apps now we need a skype app on the PS3 and my video game life will be complete

  • I’d been using PlayOn for YouTube, which is a bit cumbersome (especially searching) and my laptop needs to be on–so I pretty much stopped bothering with it. This app is a great addition! Now I can watch vids anytime with no hassle.

  • @54, Oh, so everything artists make isn’t worth anything and should just be free? Not very ethical, IMO, especially these days where everyone but the top artists(all total garbage) are going broke trying to make a living making music.

  • About frickin’ time!

  • People need to read while rambling abotu psone support for the vita, guess you all missed this.
