Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES — Lead a group of high school students with a dangerous extracurricular activity: exploring the mysterious tower Tartarus and fighting the sinister Shadows during the Dark Hour, a frozen span of time imperceptible to all but a select few. However, the end of their quest is no longer the end of the story–witness for the first time the aftermath of the final battle and the students’ struggle to find meaning in their new lives.

A spin-off of the RPG Persona, Fes (or “Festival of Persona 3”) consists of Persona 3’s content along with 30 hours of additional gameplay. The new gameplay comes primarily in the form of the “Gojitsudan,” a story sequence that comes after the original’s ending, with new cinematic sequences in addition to the added gameplay. While the main storyline is the same, it’s been tuned up with new events. Gameplay has been updated as well, with a new “hard” setting (the original had just easy and normal), 23 new Personas, a weapon synthesis system and a system for changing your characters’ clothes.

  • @luvtoseek Actually it is “ABSURD” that features that were promised either for launch or launch window not only are not present as advertised, but also not even commented on by Sony. There hasn’t even been any word on any of the features aside from Skype. Sorry, but the people have the right to complain. This isn’t “as we see fit”. Don’t show off features and advertise them in you ads/commercials if you clearly have no intention of getting them out the door at release or close to it (if at all). They clearly and obviously misguided many people into buying a portable they otherwise may not have due to the lack of features, and for the price of admission it better damn well do more than just play Vita games.

  • YES. FREE BEJEWELED FOR MY VITA.

And to everyone who’s saying “Gimme Skype. Gimme HTML5. Gimme ‘good games’. Gimme, gimme, gimme.”: maybe all of you should’ve waited to pick up a Vita, gone with a low-end tablet instead, or just learn to be patient. They’re working on it. There are lots of administrative and programming hoops to jump through.

  • Nice thanks for the 2 new games for PS VITA. I appreciate that there is a free game coming out for it!

  • @ 98, Sevyne- Sevyne, if you bought the Vita for Skype, I don’t know what to tell you. I don’t know what other app people here want/expect besides Skype. I know its uses are popular but again, you’re not being realistic. The Vita has ALWAYS been a gaming portable- it was advertised as such from the beginning. Hence why games have launch dates & apps do NOT. See the logic in that & how Sony deals w/ game devs vs. app devs. It’s a diff. relationship… can you guess which party is more important to Sony or to us gamers? No games means a dead system. The apps are well, an awesome bonus. I imagine that it will be a long time before a dev. utilizes an app into their game (besides Near).

Nobody is misguided except the consumer who didn’t do their research before a purchase. There was a solid launch window for games, as traditionally for any major console release. The apps listed @ E3 are a work in progress. If you expected the Vita to be like a iOS/Android phone release which would have the entire backlog of working apps then you, NOT Sony, imagined the Vita to be something else.

The apps are coming; it’s just that there are many factors that set them apart from the a Vita game release.

  • Guess I’ll be playing Treasures of Montezuma Blitz this week. Can’t knock the price even though I’m not normally a big puzzle game player.

  • Yes!!!! Persona all all i need from that looking froward to Wild Arms 3 now

  • skullgirl is looking pretty good, but when are we getting metal gear solid HD collection on psn EU and US.

  • Vita needs monster Hunter and Lord of apocalypse and ragnarock odyssey state side. Theres nothing to play on my new shiny console.
Skype for Vita? Where is it?

  • I agree with DL_DARK……..Rayman Origins on PSN please!

  • @ 102 (Angry-Puppy) Could you please share your source where you were confirmed that “They’re working on it. There are lots of administrative and programming hoops to jump through”

    Thanks!

  • There’s also free dlc for Escape Plan out tomorrow!

  • For those asking about Skype. The deal to bring Skype to Vita was done before Microsoft bought the Skype parent company. Maybe it’s still coming, but also perhaps Microsoft aren’t overly keen on supporting hardware from their biggest rival in the games industry. I’m sure it’ll come, but I’m also pretty certain it’ll be the same broken, poorly designed Skype app that currently blights smartphones. Still, it would be nice if Sony would actually let us know what’s happening, other than the ‘It’s still coming’ comment we got here on the blog last week.
An update on what’s going on with that infuriating PS+-minis-don’t-work-on-Vita issue, and the long promised weekly updates to supported PSP legacy titles would be nice too.
Sony, I know we all sound like entitled brats, and to some extent it’s probably true, but if you promise stuff and don’t deliver – and then remain silent about the fact – then these comment areas are going to remain a haven for disgruntled geeks to air their grievances. I’m pretty sure you’d rather Vita early adopters were raving about how amazing their new hardware is (and it IS amazing), but you have to complete your part of the deal too!

  • wow no trophies for Treasures of Montezuma Blitz :( oh well its cool though thanks for the free game keep’em coming :) …. i need a 32GB card lol and please fix the PS Plus Minis problem on the Vita :) i know the programmers are hard at work on it :) lets hope they make it work soon

  • does anyone know if skullgirls can b play with a normal control

  • I have yet to see any real references to sugar skulls in skullgirls (other than the title). I’m not sold on it yet.

  • I’ve been really quiet about the vita and it’s very weak support. But now, I feel compelled to complain. Seriously, I thought Sony was going to throw us some quality games from week to week, at least for the first month. I know there are psp games but they have no trophy support, and they are psp games, which means I could play them on my psp! There is also a lack of online multiplayer games. No point to get 3g if all you want to use it for is the slow internet browser and facebook app. RPG’s would have been nice, with a good multiplayer FPS, ask EA to release something! Please, my ps vita is hungry for games.

  • How about a discount for Plus Subscribers on Skullgirls?

    Just a thought.

  • Hey look! Another week goes by with Rey not responding to the community.

Ignoring the fan base is not exactly what a “Senior Social Media Specialist” is supposed to do, right?

Way to phone it in (again) pal…let’s get someone new please.

  • @luvtoseek Did you just randomly glance at a few words of my post and respond blindly? I could care less about Skype. My point was all of the other features that were advertised (which are gaming related) that ARE NOT SKYPE are suddenly completely ignored which is why I said “aside from skype”, but actually reading before you comment I guess is just too hard. If you can’t comprehend that then I’m completely wasting my time trying to explain it since you aren’t bothering to read it anyway.

  • To add. I’m not talking about “apps”. I’m talking about features such as psone classic support, proper ps3/vita remote play, updated psp game support all of which does make Sony money, are games, and are not simply an “awesome bonus”. These features granted were not expected right at launch, but were expected to be shortly after launch. However these are also things they have left us completely in the dark about.

  • @ 119 & 120, Sevyne- Yes, I *randomly* glanced… as you did NOT list what you wanted. “Aside from Skype” is quite vague as you didn’t list a SINGLE item. So it’s my lack of intelligence that you’re upset but didn’t phrase what you’re mad about?

REREAD your post, before you claim that I don’t know how to read/reply like an adult. Hence why you posted some examples in post #120… probably realizing how vague you were to begin with. I did not insult you; but it’s clear how immature you are in post #119.

  • @luvtoseek Are you really that clueless? “Aside from Skype” is vague how? I made it pretty clear that I wasn’t talking about skype to anyone with a brain since it was the only feature they’ve even bothered to mention in the last few weeks. Then you tell me I fail to mention the features when I absolutely didn’t need to, as your first response to me was in response to my response to gdogg666 (#60) about the psp games which I’m guessing you didn’t bother to read either.

How about you “REREAD” or better yet just read for your first time apparently through the posts before commenting, or continue to be what your avatar implies you are. It’s quite fitting for you.

  • when is the wailking dead and Rock band blitz coming out i didnt see any eta on either of them also when is the batman ac harleyquin dlc dropping all i saw was the trophy lineup for it ???

  • @ 118 xD do you think rey is going to respond to your rude comment i mean really and btw that chicken bone has been dryed out since turkey day so dont you think it is time to throw it away in get new one

  • @ Sevyne, okay, I understand. You mentioned you wanted other “features.” Then it took until post #120 to do so. That’s it, & I call that “vague” because there was no mention of it till then. I’m not a mind reader & I was just reading your post as they were addressed to me.

The difference between us is, misunderstanding or not, I’ve kept things civil while you still continue with the insults & ahem, making fun of my avatar. [Is it cool to do that now?]

Sevyne, the PSP/Mini/PS1/Remote Play, are all being worked on. There’s no reason why Sony would release a partial listing of working PSP titles/Remote Play support & stop there.

  • Wishing thinking…..Why can’t we get an update at a reasonable time

  • Gah, come on, update the store already.. I want to play Skullgirls already…

  • @luvtoseek AGAIN you don’t read properly and skip just what you feel relevant. Hell I even put in parenthesis the post # of what I was originally responding to which was clearly what I was obviously speaking about and you still completely ignore it. Do I really have to draw a picture or make a step by step video for you to understand? Ya know what? I give up. Believe whatever you want. I don’t even care anymore.

  • SKULL GIRLS WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @128, initially, you didn’t address your comment to him so I did not reference who you were replying to. I don’t read every comment here but occassionaly will respond to silly statements like comparing Sony’s method of releasing a timeline/fix to a nation’s economy & how “it could be worse?” Everything has a finite of resorces & yes, w/ Sony’s financial issues, it will be worse & things will move even slower. Realistic people choose to believe this while others find it, erm, unbelievable.

Talking about avatars, drawing a picture, making a video? We’re having a discussion here & you take it personally. I never insulted you; why is it that more than 1/2 of the lines in your posts are that of petty insults?

  • I was just about to buy the original GTA4 last night but im glad liberty city stories is only 12 bucks with ps+. It was fun on my xbox360

  • OMG the vita is supposed to have all the apps my phone has WTF! QQ! Its not fair that i paid 300 dolla for a dedicated gaming handheld and not a phone but it doesnt work just like a phone anyway. wow sony your so stupid. you shoulda knowed that if your gaming handheld has the the same hardware as an Ipad we would all associate it with that sort of tech and demand that our device have assloads of useless “apps” too. wtf.

  • wish i knew Persona 3 FES would be dubbed before i bought it, what a waste because there isnt a language option and the characters sound horrible in english
