PlayStation Around The Web: What We Read

27 10

OMG you guyz, it’s nearly Vita Time! Honestly, it really is exciting for us to see your reactions over Twitter and the blog comments. Most of you who have picked one up seem really happy with your purchase, and for those on the fence, we’ll still aim to answer as many questions about the device as we can (including in the comments – though please note that I’m out with the family today, I’ll check back tonight).

And for those of you who haven’t picked up a PS Vita yet, we’d be honored to have you join us at one of the Sony Store Midnight Launch Events this coming Tuesday night. Rey and I will be in New York, where the first 200 people who purchase a Vita will walk away with a free copy of ModNation Racers: Road Trip. If you’re in the area, I hope to see you there!

  • Will there be an update for the PS3 to actually be able to see the vita online soon? because going online on the vita dosent show us online to friends on the PS3.
Trophies unlocked on the Vita dont show up on the PS3 either
even pictures taken form the vita and sent out to friends on PS3 they wont be able to see the pictures. seems like PS3 needs an update to start doing all that

  • I don’t know if u are the right person to tell or if u can forward this but in the blog share, when submitting an idea, can u add “PS Vita” to the idea focus or whatever it is called?

  • I so can’t wait for the Vita, I dreamed earlier this morning i was playing it, 3 more days till i get mine. :)

  • Hey Jeff,

Congrats on the Vita launch. It’s a great piece of tech that I’m getting day one.

I unfortunately have noticed from the JP launch that quite a few games have been “disabling the network” while you play them. I understand this is to conserve battery life but the consequence of disabling the network makes the PSVita an unconnected device that does not build the community that you want it to. It also negates the claim that Sony makes of having cross game chat across all games.

Could you please have the devs listen to their PSN community and make “disabling network function to conserve battery life” an option instead of it being forced on us.

Hopefully you don’t take this personally and can take this feedback to the appropriate group.

    Thanks,

  • I’m enjoying reading several of these articles. I agree that FIFA’s use of the rear touch pad is a brilliant design feature and the video above even showed how the game alerts you if you’re prematurely touching that pad.

That said, I’ve had some questions about dlc for games. I get my Vita Tuesday night and wipEout 2048 is one of my planned day-one purchases. You’ve talked about getting the dlc for free when it comes out later this year if you own HD or Fury. Will that install to the physical game cartridge if I decide to go that route vs digital? If that’s the case, is there no chance of dlc getting too large to fit on a physical cartridge?

Wish I could go to one of the launch events Have fun in NY.

    • I’d imagine that if that were the case, the DLC would go on the memory card, as opposed to the game card. I don’t know about this specific example, but I know the team wouldn’t release DLC you couldn’t store.

  • So far, I’m enjoying the Vita, it’s very sleek and stylish, and has a nice solid feel to it. I do have some questions however, when will PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe be made Vita ready, and when will Super Stardust Delta be fixed? I’m still getting a C2-12383-7 error and an E-80103a3f message in the notifications page. Also if I may make a suggestion, perhaps a short video tutorial on how to transfer PSP saves, or using the Content Management System might be helpful to the influx of new users in the next few days. With that said, thanks for any feedback and keep up the good work.

    • thanks, for the comment.

I don’t have a date on PJ Monsters Deluxe, but know that I have flagged this title in particular (along with other requested titles). When there’s an update, you’ll read it here.

Good idea on the video tutorials.

  • Simple Question, when will we hear the 3G plans for canada?

  • I am guessing Rogers only wanted a subscription sales model for their 3g, which wouldn’t sit well with the majority of customers in Canada who already pay far too much for far too little as far as phones and internet go in general.

No doubt in a few months you will see Rogers selling subsidised plans where you get a vita for $99 with a 3year term contract or some non-sense lol

  • Will the augmented reality minigame become available this Wednesday when the system launches? I’m looking forward to playing the table soccer game :-)

  • No Vita time for me. The money I was going to spend on preordering a Vita is now going towards repairing my PS3. :(

  • So many say the Vita line up is really good but i have to disagree, having many game at launch don’t make it good if you don’t have something for everyone.
Out of all the launch games i have a few i’m interested in playing but nothing good enough for me to want to buy a Vita.

If the Vita would have got a good rpg at launch i probably would have jumped on buying a vita.

But it seem you guys like with Nintendo you don’t care about the RPG community in NA i just hope you guys won’t do like Nintendo with the 3DS and wait like 1 years and half before we see the first original rpg on the Vita…

  • I was going to buy a vita but since you’re cpmpany is so wishy washy on answering people’s important questions on the Vita the I have no faith in you’re new product. You guys hype everything and never deliver. My ps3 is proof of that. It took you over 5 years to updgrade the ps3’s web browser I mean COME ON! I took back my ipod touch 4th gen 2 weeks ago for the money for a vita but now as I sit on the blogs and read on about all the issues the vita has and you’re not answering their questions but only saying YOU’LL NOTE IT DOWN or you say no information at this time. I’ll just go back and re buy my ipod 4th gen back. The vita doesn’t shoot 720 HD video like it does. The ipod puts a vita web browser to shame to. Keep you’re vita its not worth my time or money.

CC Sabathia also has a customized PS3 made by Sony.
Wood grain cover, embossed player number and crown, rubies, and a travel case.

  • I’ll also add that a vita doesn’t have built in memory either. They force us to ridiculous memory stick prices and the memory sticks can ONLY be used on a vita. You and Sony rant on hyping the vita is 250 and 300 bucks. Its not the cheapest out there as a hand held. You have to have MEMORY to use it and save crap. So the product is actually 350 or 400 bucks when you buy a 32 gb card. They still are making sure they get the amount they were going to charge for it at 400 bucks or 500. But keeping the memory out of it they make it look like its a cheap high tech product. A ipod touch is 300 bucks but only 274 at bestbuy with 32 gb built in. Plus that ipod 4th gen walks all over a vita in what a vita can’t do that a ipod has done day 1. CATCH UP and I may buy a VITA.

  • Can you guys answer me why Vita games are 50/40/30 buck? why don’t they all have the same price like a console game, I think 40 sounds reasonable. I understand for PSN titles to have a price of their own ranging from 10-15 but physical games range different prices, what gives sony?

    • There are a variety of tiers based on content. Some are as cheap at 8 bucks. Still wanna pay $40 for those? :P

  • Can we send text Messages through Vita to PS3 players on PSN or only on Vita

  • pls its the site where u can deactivate ur consoles ready yet? why its taking so long if not? Thanks!
Im getting my Vita for sure, but i need to deactivate a lot of consoles!

  • @16 – You are able to send text messages to PS3 players from your PSVita.

    @17 – use the following site. http://www.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/main

Sign in with your PSN login credentials and then go to Account -> Media and Devices -> click on Game/activated devices.

From here you will be able to deactivate all your devices for games.

  • Suikoden II

You posted about it last month or so and I’m stilling craving it. Been a few years since we got the first,,,don’t be such a tease I need it!

  • at 16 yes you can text all your psn friends ( vita and ps3 )

  • @18

The site to deactivate consoles is Account Management through sonyentertainmentnetwork dot com
PS3s can be remotely deactivated, but you have to have the PSP with you to deactivate them.

  • Is there a US release date for Gravity Rush? That game looks amazing!

  • Hey Jeff, there was a pretty extensive amount of Quick Looks for PS Vita games over at Giantbomb!

  • im extremely impressed with the ps vita Jeff and really surprised that san diego studios didnt include head to head online multiplayer to modnation , the vita is packed with online functionalities , portable online gaming on the system scream SUCCESS , i dont see otherwise .

i was just playing wipeout online campaign and cross platform play , oh my god this thing is amazing !!!! wipeout even let you see all your friends online and if someone from your friend list is playing the game it gives you the choice to join them and if a friend beat one of you record it let you know so you can challenge them and get back to the top .

Near , oh my how im loving this app , i have received like 5 rare items on Uncharted Golden Abyss ( which btw is like playing uncharted drakes fortune on the ps3 ) same experience , i have received challenges on little deviants , i have contest friends with better scores than me , i have received like 10 modnation racers gifts , i have met 4 friends through Near already and this is only the beginning .

this is what i was expecting my psp to be : A true playstation portable experience , very , very impressed , thanks for such amazing device .

  • one more thing with the vita you have PSN in the palm of your hands ( trophies , messages , cross game chat , friend list )

oh my i almost forgot : MULTITASKING , man this is something else , you can pause a game and use up to 5 apps then get back to the game in no time , no loading icons like the ps3 , this thing is fast , very fast . loving this !!!

web browser could use some work though , its not that impressive

game updates are easy , fast to do , wipeout , little deviants had updates already

hopefully you guys realize the position you are in , you can make the vita the connected online portable device to own , no doubt about it

  • There are a couple more questions about the PSVita that are of interest.
Does the browser use flash and do the pages get redirected to the mobile versions of the sites?
Not something really big, but a question nevertheless.

As for those whining about the cost of a memory card being two expensive.
A)The cards are rated at the fastest possible speed, 10 I believe.
This is to keep the games running off of it to move fast enough for the systems needs.

B)No one should honestly go for the largest size, its bound to be cheaper within the next two years.
The best card to buy with it is the 8GB due to the jumps in memory size to dollar value. Would have gotten myself one of the earlier versions of the system if they had the bundle with eight rather then 4.
