PS Vita will begin making its way into gamers’ hands in just a few short days! Day one Vita owners will have many, many games to choose from, with 25 titles announced for launch on February 22nd. Actually, make that 26 — Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus is now a confirmed launch title as well.
If you’re being thorough, however, that number is off by a bit… like by 90%. Hundreds of classic PSP titles and minis will also be available to play on PS Vita on day one via the PlayStation Store. Even better, if you’ve already downloaded a compatible PSP title, you can download it directly onto your PS Vita at no extra cost (please note that some limitations do apply).
There are a couple of ways to get these PSP games onto your PS Vita:
- Purchase PSP games from PS Vita’s PlayStation Store and download via WiFi directly to your system. If you’ve already purchased a game via PSN from the list below, you can redownload it from the Download List.
- If you’ve already got one of these games sitting on your PS3 XMB (or have purchased from the PS3’s PlayStation Store), you can connect your PS Vita to the PS3 via the included USB cable, and transfer the game via PS Vita’s on-board Content Manager.
Here are the first 275 PSP titles ready to be downloaded onto PS Vita. Don’t worry if you don’t see your favorite title here now; more PSP titles will be made available for PS Vita play in the coming weeks. We’ll keep this list current and let you know when updates are made.

@Megamixer, you’ve got me beat. I’ve got exactly 1 (out of 62) PSP games that’s VITA ready… Eye of Judgment Legends.
It’s almost unforgivable that PixelJunk Monsters and the entire Locoroco series isn’t ready to play on the Vita. Locoroco seems prime for a Vita remake with the touch controls and sixaxis.
I’d really like to see Motorstorm make this list sooner than later too.
I have enough Vita games lined up to keep me busy for awhile, but hopefully the next PSP compatibility update gives me something to play while I wait for the Vita games catalog to fill in.
No WipEout games, Motorstorm, LBP ?!
But the more important thing why the UMD passport is not coming to NA, you already made this mistake on the PSPGo and you saw what happened and now you are doing it again
Like other posters are saying, this is the list available to dl directly to Vita, other games should work if you transfer them from a PS3.
And I’m not complaining, but let my voice be added to the masses that want PSone and 2 games on the Vita, it would be great if all PSN titles would work on it too! :D
@avdavidw
62 PSP games? Naw you’ve got me beat by having far more games you (assumedly) have found to be fun and worth owning on the system. :)
Funny thing is if Sony did do a umd passport program everyone would probably complain because you would still have to pay a small fee for the download.
hmm I tried to transfer some games I already had on my PS3 and my Vita didn’t show them. Do I have to re-download from the store?
CAN’T WAIT FOR THE PS VITA!!! I already had Little Big Planet PSP, Killzone Liberation, both God of Wars, Mega Man Maverick Hunter X, Ridge Racer, Assassins Creed: Bloodlines digitally and I’m looking forward to downloading Daxter! Good thing I already went with the digital route with the PSP Go!
I hope Star Wars Battlefront Renegade Squadron and Elite Squadron get put on that list soon. I’m itching to try those games with the dual sticks.
@gema11981
Seeing as how the Passport was only for UMD games that were already on PSN I would be complaining since it would only cover 9 / 17 UMD games. Having half my UMD collection fade into obscurity wouldn’t be something to be happy about.
Oh thats cool. No naruto, no kingdom hearts? well i guess ill get some of the alternatives like dissidia.
Great… no Birth by Sleep and no Crisis Core. Way to spit in my face Square-Enix
@mega I don’t know then don’t get the vita if you love umds that much stick with your psp ;)
many of the game i have on UMD, are on the list
so i have to REBUY them, just to play them of the vita,
WHY?
that not right,
there need to be something for people that have a good many games on UMD and no digital version of the game
Where’s Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, Secret Agent Clank, and Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier already? I want my action platformers. Daxter is great. But that’s only 1 game.
@Powerhousekrause The PSP games no longer install to the PS3. Once you have downloaded them, just hook up the Vita and using the Vita’s “Content Manager” app you copy them across. It’s very quick, very simple, you really can’t go wrong.
Sony why aren’t you offering the UMD passport program here? you should treat all your consumers the same, at least give us some explanation
This list just doesn’t make sense…
You have Patapon 2 but not 1 or 3?
Where are any of the MGS games?
Or the GTA games?
Why are big SCEA exclusives like Killzone Liberation, LBP, Wiipeout, and GT missing?
What about Jeanna D’arc, Valkyria Chronicles 2, LocoRoco 1-2 and Castlevania DXC?!
These are all games I own digitally that I was planning to play on my Vita on launch. And you’re telling me to wait till they’re added? Is there even any guarantee that they will be added? I doubt it…
Way to drop the ball Sony.
@omegasc You might need to redownload your PSP games. A while back Sony changed their policies. It used to be you could put the games on 5 systems, now you can only use them on 2. Try selecting a PSP game on your PS3. If it needs to be downloaded you’ll get a message saying something like “This content needs to be downloaded again”.
Or, simpler way of putting it, if you see an installed PSP game on your PS3 then you definitely need to download it again as PSP games no longer get installed on the PS3, they remain as the “bubbles” they download in.
In other news, I checked the file and LittleBigPlanet works just fine on the Vita too. It really is just a case of the games needing to be downloaded via a PS3 or PC if they aren’t on that list above.
@Enigma777 Glad to see you are reading the comments. (Not.) I’ve personally confirmed that 6 of the games on your list do work on the Vita. This is just a list of games that can be downloaded directly to the device. The games work man, you’ll be able to play them all (or at the very worst nearly all) at launch. I haven’t found a single game that doesn’t work yet.
Now I fear for Brave Story: New Traveler and SHIFT extended, since they’re not on the Store anymore.
I hope crisis core and Kingdom hearts make it to the list.
Here’s to hoping Birth by sleep gets a re-release :(
Hey Jeff, I think you need to provide an update or clarification as to what this list means. This is a list of games that can be downloaded directly to your Vita but everyone seems to be taking it as a compatibility list. There are already other sites reporting it as such and people reacting quite negatively to it when they clearly don’t need to be. Just sayin…
Whew, crisis averted. I misunderstood. The list is just games you can direct download to the Vita. I already have all my digital PSP games on my PS3 so it should be an easy copy.
I just ran through my list of UMD PSP games to see what would be worth re-buying digitally. It would cost me $185.86 to rebuy my UMD collection that are available as digital downloads.
I’ll probably pickup a select few. However, Pursuit Force has the most WTF digital price at $22.99. It was fun and all, but if I remember correctly I bought it on UMD new a few years ago for around $7.
I hope God of War Origins Collection gets a Vita release later :)
Hey, Jeff
Question, will
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy I
Final Fantasy 2
Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep
Megaman Powered Up
be making it to the PSN any time soon? I really never got to play those because I couldn’t play them on PSP Go.
Also is there a Approx. time on PSOne on PS Vita Release time??
@30: The UMD Drive is a huge damper on a handheld. If they included it for b/c then it would have just been the format for Vita too. Which would have sucked. The Vita is packed full of good decisions, the exclusion of UMD drive is a good one.
You just don’t see it because you’re mad you can’t use a Vita for your UMDs. There are times where you just have to let go of a certain format and go ahead for the better of the new device.
No UMD drive will be better for the PSVita in the long run. You’ll see it eventually. So just buy a PSP again and don’t buy a PSVita. Problem solved.
@ megamixer, you’ve been in the blog for awhile, I’ll state it just in case it wasn’t clear enough; list is not complete. Yes, you said ‘I know… etc’ But your comment of ‘disastrous’ is surprisingly immature. W/ your huge list of Psp games, why not use the PSP as someone here already stated?
There are exciting launch/launch window titles on the horizon & I’m reading some concerns about PSP titles that have not MADE the list yet of compatibility… wow. I suppose we should suggest to Sony to release a 256 GB memory card for all those PSP titles, eh? I love digital apps/games/media as the profits go to the devs; I’ll vote for that.
Does Sony make mistakes, yep. But the Vita is looking like a great piece of tech that’s priced right w/ IMO, fantastic launch games. I wouldn’t bet that any dev will reconfig. PSP titles w/ dual analog in any timely manner (very surprised that someone here purchased a PSP title strictly for the Vita & additionally expects it to offer some magical ‘control key input’ upon release). These input conversions take a long time & possibly may never happen depending on the dev. & their budget.
@118: Any games you bought before the change from 5 to 2 still offer up 5. It’s only purchases made after the change that have 2. They didn’t remove anything from what you already bought.
JEFF!
will we be able to play PSP online games on the PS VITA?
like for example, Resistance: Retribution or, Syphon Filter: Logan’s shodow , I LOVE THE ONLINE for those games, so if we download it on the PS VITA, will we be able to play the online modes?
Yay
And I second (third, fourth…) the desire for the UMD transfer. IIRC, I’ve only bought two UMD games used, and those were in the past couple months. Y U NO INCENTIVIZE?
Actually, since I love lists, let’s count them out! If I’m not forgetting one…
– Adventures To Go!! [New]
– Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles [New]
– CRISIS CORE -FINAL FANTASY VII- [Launch]
– DISSIDIA FINAL FANTASY [Launch]
– DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] FINAL FANTASY [Launch]
– Fate/EXTRA [Launch, Collector’s]
– FINAL FANTASY IV: The Complete Collection [Launch?]
– FINAL FANTASY TACTICS: THE WAR OF THE LIONS [New]
– God of War: Ghost of Sparta [GoW PSP bundle Launch]
– Half-Minute Hero [Used]
– KINGDOM HEARTS Birth by Sleep [Launch]
– The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky [New, Premium]
– Lunar: Silver Star Harmony [Launch?, Premium]
– Shin Megami Tensei: Persona [Launch?]
– Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 2 Innocent Sin [New]
– WipEout Pure [Used]
– Ys I & II Chronicles [New, Premium]
– Ys: The Oath in Felghana [New, Premium]
– Ys SEVEN [New, Premium]
…and I still have all of them.
Is there any reason why we are not getting the umd passport program that japan is currently using? =(
Give me some incentive to buy your expensive tech at launch (if I want all my downloaded games on hand, I’d be sinking a Benjamin on memory alone), because there’s not much out of the gate that I feel I can’t wait on. After all, what I’ve played most on my 3DS has been Elite Beat Agents (SUPERB game, BTW; four bucks used (got mine new in a K-Mart closeout), and all the charm/awesome in the world).
That is well cool:P Now if only you could download & play the PS1 & PS2 PSN games to on the PSVita to? That would be AMAZING! ! !:P
So when do we play PSone Classics? I have a handful of them that are itching to be played by me.
@mega mixer if boughtthe game on psn it shoukld work on ps vita.. they are also trying to figure out a way to allow gamers to get there umd saves to ps vita./ i dont think its possible to play umd games on vita. but think they are trying to allow gamers to use the umd gsame saves via computer or sony cloud save.
All this games you listed that dont work… Do work..becuase they intergrarte in psn so vita is part of intergration ;).. also all movies will work and music downloads. they jus thave to dl to ps3 1st

Damm you Sony I wanted the UMD passaport program to play Crisisi Core on the Vita atleast put it in the Store so that I can re buy it. It’s the best psp game ever.
I’m getting my Vita on the 15th and the 2 games I am most looking forward to playing are Shinobido 2, which comes out on the 22nd and Metal Gear Portable Ops which is not on this list. That sucks. First Edition seems much less appealing now.
I dont if the ps1 classic work on ps vita right now. if they ported/made on both psp and ps3 then it should work.
I know all mini work and few psclassic will work on psp so . if have few ps1 classic that psp compatitabe try to synce them and see what happens..

Awww, no Sonic Rivals or Sonic Rivals 2? I hope they’re added soon, so I can race my PSP friends.
where are Resistance Retribution , Motorstorm Arctic Edge and Little Big Planet ? oh well not a big deal since all of them are getting new vita games lol
Some people need to reed before complaining.
” Here are the first 275 PSP titles ready to be downloaded onto PS Vita.”
^^LOOK^^ the First NOT the ONLY PSP titles give it time.
when the ” Never stop playing ” campaign will start ?
Why isn’t Media Go able to be used with Vita? It’s the way I store my PSP games and saves to transfer to my PSP, so it should work with the Vita at launch.
No Dead Head Fred? *cuts self violently*
nö
Did anyone else notice that MODNATION RACERS wasn’t listed? That makes me wonder about the ModNation game “designed for the PlayStation Vita.” Now I lack faith in the game. At least I’ve got Uncharted: Golden Abyss.
Rubenstein, I’ve gotta say, man. You kind of seem like you’re trying to kiss corporate butt to get to the top. Shoot dude, at least you’ve got a job. It shows clear as day buddy. Might want to tone it down.
Jeff,
Would be good to get confirmation on whether games absent from this list will still work on Vita by transferring from PS3. Like many others, I have a couple of the Welcome Back titles (LBP, Killzone), and would like to be able to finally play them (seeing as I never had a PSP). This was a big selling point for me to pre-order the Vita. If the answer is “no”, then please prioritize adding the Welcome Back titles to the list. I promise to still buy the Vita versions of LBP and Killzone when they come out.
On a related note, I’d love to be able to buy the LocoRoco/Patapon and Motorstorm/Twisted Metal PSP bundles which just went on sale 1/24 to play on Vita.
So seeing that you guys at SCEA have decided to forgo the UMD Passport Program is there a chance that we’ll be seeing a price cut or sale for some of these titles?
I mean many of these titles are still priced in the $30-$40 range when their UMD counterparts are selling for $20 or less. The UMD Passport Program may not have ben perfect, but it at least provided us UMD owners a chance to purchase a digital copy of games we already owned for a small fee without being priced-gouged. BY completely ignoring this issue it’s basically like you are telling those of us who have supported the PSP through the UMDs to either buy our games full-priced through the PSN or suck it up.
