PS Vita will begin making its way into gamers’ hands in just a few short days! Day one Vita owners will have many, many games to choose from, with 25 titles announced for launch on February 22nd. Actually, make that 26 — Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus is now a confirmed launch title as well.
If you’re being thorough, however, that number is off by a bit… like by 90%. Hundreds of classic PSP titles and minis will also be available to play on PS Vita on day one via the PlayStation Store. Even better, if you’ve already downloaded a compatible PSP title, you can download it directly onto your PS Vita at no extra cost (please note that some limitations do apply).
There are a couple of ways to get these PSP games onto your PS Vita:
- Purchase PSP games from PS Vita’s PlayStation Store and download via WiFi directly to your system. If you’ve already purchased a game via PSN from the list below, you can redownload it from the Download List.
- If you’ve already got one of these games sitting on your PS3 XMB (or have purchased from the PS3’s PlayStation Store), you can connect your PS Vita to the PS3 via the included USB cable, and transfer the game via PS Vita’s on-board Content Manager.
Here are the first 275 PSP titles ready to be downloaded onto PS Vita. Don’t worry if you don’t see your favorite title here now; more PSP titles will be made available for PS Vita play in the coming weeks. We’ll keep this list current and let you know when updates are made.

Where is Resistance: Retribution?? It better be compatible!
Same limitaions apply for Vita????? I mean 2 Vitas per perchase right?
This list definitely needs more Jeanne D’arc. Happy to see Trails in the Sky here though.
With that list I’ll be sticking to my PSP until the rest of my games are made available…. Speaking of which is Sony talking to developers/publishers about getting the UMD only titles onto PSN? I’d like to get games like Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII which I own for PSP UMD on the PS Vita. When can we expect to hear news about PSOne titles on PS Vita? Game save transfers?
So summation:
Can we expect sony to help bring Crisis Core: FF7 and other UMD Only titles to PSN for Vita?
How do we transfer game saves between Vita and PSP?
When can we expect PSOne titles?
MLB 10 and MLB 11 aren’t listed.
“Hexyz Force” is another I bought for that wretched Go before I sold it that I never got around to playing. Any info on that title’s current compatability would be appreciated as well.
@Reluctant-Hero. Thanks. Is it the Japanese version or is the UI in English? If it’s English then why wasn’t there a blog post about that or added in this post as one of the options for downloading stuff….
@ 48
So what are you saying??? It makes no sense at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That PS3 Transfer screen looks different. Did 4.10 change things?
Does this mean I don’t have to put up with all those nasty install files sitting on my XMB unable to be put into folders?
Recap for people who aren’t actually reading the article and are just looking at the list:
That is the first 275 games of many more to be supported and that list will keep growing, so don’t be worried that your favorite game isn’t there because it will be eventually.

Ok, obviously no ones reading the whole article, if there still saying “what?! no -insert game title here- WTF SONY!”
CLEARLY it says, “don’t worry if you don’t see your favorite game, there are many more titles to come with the next few weeks. “
Also where’s Jeanne Darc? Did that get removed off PSN?
@Megamixer: Hot Shots Shorties are supported, by they’re listed in the “Minis” section.
And before I get slammed by “bu-bu-bu this is just the first wave!” people need I remind you of a certain console that had only limited BC at launch? How many original XBOX titles can be played on the 360? Not even close to all of them. Also, they gave up on BC. As did Sony earlier this generation. I wait with bated breath to see if even a “second wave” of BC support hits Vita.
my sony rep at work said that ps1 support SHOULD be in a day one patch along with netflix and other apps. Guess we will see when the system fully launches on the 22nd
@Reluctant-Hero
Ah, that is really strange. They aren’t listed as Minis on the PS Store (at least, not when I purchased them). Well, that’s 8 / 30…. *slow clap*
@megamixer Lunar Silver Star Harmony is on the list
I love drilling the Pitcher in the Baseball game in Hot Shots Shorties.
I nail him in the head then knock his pissed off reaction pitch out of the park:lol
@fifthcore
Must be a copy/paste failure there. 9 / 30! Almost a third of the way (not counting the 17 titles I own on UMD, naturally)…
@NIGHTRAVEN You’re not helping the situation. Sony launched this freaking thing in Japan two months ago, almost three, and had plenty of time to iron out the kinks. What the Hell were they doing with that time? Certainly not advertising their product efficiently. Promising backwards compatibility with PSP/ PSN titles then saying: “Here’s less than 1/2 of what we have on the store that we know works! Hang tight!” A week before release I might add. How disorganized and incompetent can a company be? And this is the profitable division. No wonder Sony got downgraded to below junk bonds. Only reason I’m getting a Vita is to support the JRPG developers.
When will we see the PS Vita commercials?
I’m surprised that most people on here can’t read the part that said: “more PSP titles will be made available for PS Vita play in the coming weeks.” The Vita isn’t out yet in the US so you should chill first. Just wait, yo.
I just want to repeat, this is list is NOT COMPLETE. I can personally confirm the following games DO WORK on Vita:
Jeanne d’Arc
GUN: Showdown
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories
Valkyria Chronicles II.
These games DO work, and I would bet that many others missing from the list do as well. It is likely that this is just a list of the ones that have been tested, a work experience lad is probably sitting there with a Vita right now loading up the rest to see if they also work.
And for crying out loud people, the console isn’t officially out yet. See how the list looks in a few days and THEN start your complaining.
Btw, PSone games can be played through Remote Play. I’ve tested it on 11 PSone games and they all work just fine when streamed from the PS3. Hopefully native support will be ready soon. Chill out guys, it’s all good and the Vita is damn sexy, you are going to love it.
CAN’T WAIT TO PLAY THE 3RD BIRTHDAY ON VITA, WON’T GET MY HANDS CRAMPED ON THE PLAYING IT ON THE PSP GO ANY MORE.
I like how people are forgiving $ony for this egregious mistake. The PSP was a single generation ago. The last Nintendo handheld to support GBA games was the DS Lite. By that time, GBA games weren’t being made, so it didn’t make sense for the 3DS to have a GBA slot. The PSP and PSPGo are the same generation. ONE GENERATION ago. This does not make it ‘OK’. And no I am not looking to ‘just complain’ – I want to ‘just play’ my games. We’re all GAMERS here. Don’t forget that.
There are a few that NEED to be included, but personally im glad that Legend of Heroes: TiTS and DJ Max Fever are on that list
What about PSN+?? there´s any chance to have some rewards?
So let’s see, not only can’t I do anything with the over sixty UMD games I have because you won’t do the Passport program over here for God knows what reason, but I also can’t do anything with my digital copies of Patchwork Heroes, Practical Quotient, The Warriors, or all that Rock Band Unplugged DLC I have. Thanks guys, you’re really convincing me that upgrading to a Vita is a good idea!
So none of the Welcome Back games (Killzone: Liberation, LBP, ModNation, or Pursuit Force) are backwards compatible? What a joke…
PS1 games too please.
lol i bet that list is just tested games wile people are bellyaching. it would make sense for Sony to not assure all games are backwards compatible. Yeah MS made a few hundred games compatible with 360… but Sony is not MS. Lets not forget that the earlier PS3’s were compatible with just about every PS1 & 2 game.
Why aren’t Mod Nation and LittleBigPlanet PSP suppored? Oh, yeah, that’s right $ony crippled those titles with restrictive DRM so as gamers are forced to buy the vita versions…..LAME. One more reason not to buy the Vita…
No Peace Walker… I have strange feeling they will try to resell us those games instead of letting us copy them.
No Patapon 3???
I hope you are planning to have sales on PSP games…some of these games are too expensive currently.
By the way:
No Little Big Planet, Modnation, or Wipeout PSP support at launch?
Gee… Why ever could that be, I wonder… *tinfoil hat*
Sigh… i lol at the amount of people who cannot carefully read this article and start bellyaching over there supposedly non-supported game.
Any chance that The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky will get added to this list? I’ve been holding out on getting it in hopes that it would be playable on my (pre-ordered) Vita.
I went and checked, and you can add another two games to this list of games that work:
Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords
Killzone Liberation.
I’ve seen a lot of comments moaning about Killzone not being on there, but guys it does work, looking at it right now. The only game I can’t check right now is LittleBigPlanet as I didn’t have room on my memory card to copy it over. I’ll go and put that on now and see if it works. So far though, not a single one of my digital PSP collection hasn’t worked. They’ve all been playing flawlessly, I see no reason for any of the games not to.
We need filters for the Download List, please… scrolling to my big list of “Cannot download using a PS Vita System” is a pain.
Hey y’all, listen this post is a little misleading. I have an imported vita and have been downloading games all day. The 275 list only includes Vita titles that can be downloaded directly from the Vita. But I have many titles that are not in that 275 (Peace Walker, Jeanne d’arc, Gran Turismo, etc.). All of them can be downloaded on the Ps3 and then transferred to the Vita. The entire digital library will work! So no worries. But so far Media Go does not transfer any titles. This is awesome! And they look great. Again no worries!
Wow.
No Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core?
Are you kidding me?
This game is such a legend…
PLEASE consider taking this one and making it compatible…
Angry Birds???
Tetris mini???
All minis and all psp digital titles work on the Vita! BUT you have to use the Ps3 to download them. They are not on the VITA psn store. Trust me.
I don’t see MY PSP titles listed – I’m hoping this is just a partial list available on the Vita’s PS Store.
@ParkingtigersX & coramdeo7
That’s somewhat reassuring. Thanks for the info and hard work you guys.
@Mayhem_child
Crisis Core isn’t on PSN in any region. Its UMD only, so of course it won’t work!
You all think in such a negitive light
What if games like Crisis Core and Peacewalker are being perhaps remade or upscaled PS2 classics style?
Or we could use the UMD Passport program!
Oh, wait…
@coramdeo7 Good catch man, that would go with my experiences too. I downloaded all my PSP games onto my PS3 and transferred them from there. They all work on the Vita, and I just checked Killzone and Chinatown Wars and they work too. It would make sense that the list is only of games that can be downloaded directly to the Vita itself.
Okay everyone, panic over. All the games work, the list is just wrongly labelled. It should state that these are the games that you can buy and/or download on the Vita only. The rest you need to get via a PC or PS3.
@ParkingtigersX I have a bunch already downloaded to my PS3. Do I need to do anything to install them on my PS3 first, or once they are dl’ed they are good to go?
