Featured New Releases on Music Unlimited

Drake“Take Care”
Drake is not your average rap star on paper. Affluent, Canadian, Jewish and a child actor. Perhaps it is that atypical perspective that allows Drake to take an overused rap topic of “more money, more problems” – a major theme of Take Care, and well, make us care. Drake’s lyrical voice is also sharper, his emotional palette more revealing. The production is leaps and bounds above his predecessor with Waka Flocka Flame, Lex Luger and even the Mercury Prize winner London Alt rockers, The XX, offering contributions.

If you like: Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Chris Brown
Recommended Track: “Take Care” featuring former girlfriend, Rihanna

Childish Gambino“Camp”
In the ever-changing entertainment landscape, the idea of the “triple-threat” can take on a few different meanings. For Community star Donald Glover, this means writer (he previously wrote for 30 Rock)/actor/musician, a combination that has managed to come to a head within his rap project, Childish Gambino. A natural story teller, his writing chops are showcased in some seriously lyric-focused tracks and his acting chops in the creepy ghost-tale-with-a-twist video for the single, “Bonfire.” After self-releasing previous albums and mixtapes, his official signing to Glassnote Records and this latest album has him poised concentrate the energy of his many talents into an inferno.

If you like: Kanye West, Mos Def, Talib Kweli
    Recommended Track: “Fire Fly”

Glee Cast“Glee Christmas Vol. 2”
‘Tis the season! The students of McKinley High (or, rather, the hyper-talented actors who play them) have compiled their renditions of holiday favorites, as well as two original seasonal tunes, “Extraordinary Merry Christmas” and “Christmas Eve With You.” In addition, several of the tracks feature performances from contestants on Bravo’s The Glee Project, alongside the Fox show’s cast. The Glee holiday episode will air December 13th, so you have plenty of time to get in the spirit with this soundtrack.

    If you like: Glee
    Recommended Track: “Blue Christmas”
