Interview with composer Christopher Lennertz:
The Sims Pets 3 Original Videogame Soundtrack arrives this week in the Music Unlimited service, along with Horrible Bosses in the Video Unlimited service – two projects scored by composer, Christopher Lennertz. We talked with him about the differences between composing for a video game, and a major film with members of Pearl Jam and the Dave Matthews Band. Check it out!
Featured New Releases on the Music Unlimited Service:
Patrick Stump – Soul Punk
When imagining a solo departure from one of pop punk’s most well-known bands, you may expect Patrick Stump from Fall Out Boy to take a more guitar-driven, even stripped-down approach. Instead, Stump concentrated the energy from being in a rock band to piecing together a highly textured, beat-driven, catchy-as-they-come dance album. Having played all of the instruments and producing the album himself, there is everything, yet nothing, solo about it.

Jane’s Addiction – The Great Escape Artist
Perry Farrell is someone who has dipped his hands in multiple ventures, including several different music projects, as well as founding the 20-year-old Lollapalooza Music Festival. It should come as no surprise that even within his projects, there are many internal and external creative forces, including original band members Dave Navarro and Stephen Perkins, as well as contributions from former Guns’N’Roses member Duff McKagan and TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek. Big personalities like these may not always mesh together, but in this case, the sound is reigned to remain uniquely Jane’s Addiction.

M83 – Hurry Up We’re Dreaming
French maestro, Anthony Gonzalez aka M83, gave us one of the best albums of 2008 with Saturdays = Youth. The album melded his My Bloody Valentine influenced electronic ambience with traditional song structures in tribute to his favorite records of the 1980’s. Hurry Up, I’m Dreaming, casts an even wider net, alternatively lush and enveloping, urgent and dynamic. At 22 tracks and over 70 minutes, Dreaming is an ambitious double-album epic that succeeds at every turn. Expect to see it on many best albums lists of 2011.
