inFAMOUS 2 Mission Design Contest: Storytellers Wanted

If you’ve played inFAMOUS 2, you’ll know that it comes with a complete set of mission design tools to allow you to construct your very own missions within the game. Not to mention that when you’re in the game world, you can play other’s creations for yourself to keep the inFAMOUS 2 fun going beyond the game. Some of you have shown off some real talent in creating missions, while some of you may not have had the chance to get your hands on it yet.

inFAMOUS 2 for PS3

Now, to get ready for the release of inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood on PlayStation Network, we’re announcing “Cole’s Missing Mission,” our very first mission design contest in the inFAMOUS universe.

Think you’re an expert in creating missions in inFAMOUS 2? Now you’ve got a chance to prove it. Using the UGC tools in inFAMOUS 2, we’re challenging you to come up with a Narrative based mission that tells a unique Cole story; meaning you’ll need to apply the Narrative tag to your mission for it to be considered. The winning mission will have all the right stuff: a great Cole-centric story, all while happening within one mission (so no multiple part missions, i.e. Part 2, Part 3, etc). The level must be created after the announcement date (today), and submitted before October 22nd October 25th.

To make the cut, the level must have a user rating of 4.5 stars and have at least 15 ratings. One grand-prize winner will receive a Good and Evil Cole statue from inFAMOUS 2 , their mission featured in-game as a highlighted mission, $1,000.00 in PlayStation Store credit in the form of a voucher (voucher will be emailed to the winner’s email address that is linked to their PSN ID), a signed copy of inFAMOUS 2 by the Sucker Punch team, and the winning mission will be highlighted on the PlayStation.Blog. Two runner-ups will each have their designed mission featured in-game as a highlighted mission, $100.00 in PlayStation Store credit in the form of a voucher , and the mission highlighted on the PlayStation.Blog.

Once you’ve created and published your mission with the ‘Narrative’ tag applied, you’ll need to do the following to submit it to the contest:

  • Navigate to infamousthegame.com on the internet and sign into the website with your PSN ID.
  • Navigate to Community –> UGC Missions. Scroll to the bottom and select “My Published” and identify the level you want to submit.
  • Select and submit the level (“Entry”) by clicking on “Submit My Mission” button.
  • Submit your entry or get more info by going to the official inFAMOUS website.

Once you’ve submitted, we’ll be reviewing all qualified entries starting October 25th, and announcing the winner on November 11th, 2011. You can read full contest rules here.

So make your “Cole’s Missing Mission”! Although it should have a narrative focus, don’t forget, it should be fun and fair to play as well. After all, inFAMOUS is known for super-hero action, so we can’t forget the fun stuff! You’ll want to have as many people review and play your mission before you submit it as well. If you need help, check out Sucker Punch’s UGC Tutorial Videos to get a grasp on the basics. Get ready for even more inFamous with the standalone PSN title inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood, coming to PSN October 25. Stayed tuned to the PlayStation.Blog for details on all things inFAMOUS!

  • Now can we get some information about Festival of Blood’s plot premise?

  • Oh, and first, of course.

  • This sounds perfect. I’ve been trying to think of a mission to write to get that trophy anyway. Now that I can win some money I’m gonna have to put my everything into this!

  • @BlueBulletBill…Derping about your “first” comment are you?

  • Anymore information about Infamous Festival of Blood? I’m not sure yet if I should pre-order due to the fact that there is limited information about it.

    Thanks

  • Sounds awesome. I’ll have to fire up the UGC and give this a go.

  • Pre-ordered FoB, I’m thirsty, MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, ahem sorry!!! >8( 8P 8)

  • I pre-ordered Festival of Blood the moment I found out I could. :D

The contest sounds pretty cool too, good luck to everyone who enters! I would, but I already have the Cole figures…so someone else should give it a try.

  • Hey Collin. Can you play my first mission misFORTUNE? I think its a 4/5 right now but I only have like 40 plays :(

  • Scout & Collin, this contest sounds great. I look forward to playing the top winning missions, & yes, FOB pre-ordered. Thanks for the spooky dynamic theme.

  • Is the contest open to all? (ie. Not US only)

  • 1.000,00$? @#!* I live in Europe!

  • Wow! Sounds like fun!

  • Damn.

I might just go out and buy inFamous 2 to enter this.

  • Yeah what Kchow said. Are Canadians welcome?

  • Already preordered FoB. Am so excited for Oct. 25. Any info soon?

  • Why can’t I participate for being from Puerto Rico? I’m an InFamous fan, i even bought the Hero edition of InFamous 2 when it came out, for $99.99, and suffered when it began to be sold at $59.99. I should have said something earlier, but I’m not one to make a fuss about everything! I think I should get compensated! :) Nah but good luck to all who can make it!

  • It would take me the rest of my life to spend $1000 on PSN. I wish I hadn’t made so much UGC lately, I’m out of ideas! :P

  • US entry only? That sucks hard guys.

  • Yup US only … again :(

  • I really hope they do a Europe/UK version of this contest…

There are something like 16 different creators who have narrative missions featured and I’m in that group =[

  • I don’t own this game anymore, but man, this will probably be pretty sweet.

  • 4.5 stars to qualify huh? I think people can get that so long as those people who randomly rate 1 star aren’t present.

  • I find it funny that if you win, you win another copy of the game that you used to win and make the level. :P

  • UGHHHHHHHHHHH!!! I wish I had my copy of Infamous 2 that I let my Uncle borrow so I could borrow New Vegas Dangit!.

  • U.S. Territories not included?! Come on Sony and Sucker Punch, you’ve got fans there too ya know!

  • Ah, I’ve been waiting for a mission design contest to get back into the game. Can’t wait to tell this story . . .

  • When I read this on the PS Blog homepage, I was pretty sure I wasn’t going to do it, but I read it anyway because I’m a huge Infamous fan. When I saw $1,000 and $100 PS Store credit for the winner and runner ups, I flipped. I’m not the creative type at all, stink at art, and couldn’t really make anything in LittleBigPlanet or Infamous 2 itself, but I’m going to try my best. I think I can come up with a good story but just to make it long and fun is the harder part.

Good luck to everybody, may the best me win. Thanks Sucker Punch and Sony!

  • @14 You should have the game anyway! It has to be the dark horse for best game of the year (even though no body wil even consider it) =(. But the game is awesome, some of the best singleplayer gameplay you can get on consoles today.

  • Goodness gracious! What a final grand prize!!!! You can buy a lot games from the psn store with that amount. Just looking at the rules…. Shucks. I can’t enter. I live way too north from Montana…..Oh well…good luck to everybody else!

  • What about Latin American players of inFAMOUS? must we be US resident? I hae account onthe US PSn… Can’t participate?

  • @24 It’s a SIGNED (by all the SuckerPunch Team) copy of inFAMOUS 2… that in some years would be very much valuable…;)

  • niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • Sounds awesome

  • @UltraRazpacho – off-topic but hey man how did you get this avatar is totally awesome.
