A robust week for PSN news, including an update that allows a free download of the NHL GameCenter application, a list of The Tester: Season 3’s top 20 contenders, a first look at PSN killing machine Shank 2, a new video showing the heroes of Okabu, an October 18th release date for PSN exclusive RocketBirds: Hardboiled Chicken, and a long-awaited PSN release date for co-op tower defense title Dungeon Defenders (October 18th!). That’s in addition to a peek behind Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One’s box art and a confirmed U.S. release for PS3 exclusive Yakuza: Dead Souls. Not bad, eh?

What are you playing this weekend?

  • I’m playing: Rage, Dark Souls

    • any chance of a Modnation Racers: Game of the year edition, I tried making this into an idea in the blog share.

    • So why is the PS2 Classics so downplayed? They are only mentioned in a brief paragraph in one article and have no special page in the Store yet? A lot of friends are really excited by this feature, but it’s almost no existence here.

    • Good week. Also, VERY surprised that the “Michael” ad isn’t the top watched video of the week. It was just simply incredible.

      I’m Playing: Resistance 2, and Resistance 3.

I’m Watching: Nikita season two, and Lion King 3D Blu-Ray, Everwood.

I’m Reading: Engadget and Tech Crunch.

I’m Listening to: Two Steps From Hell – “Dragon Rider.”

      • We count video views that we host internally on Viddler (for now), so the Michael video doesn’t count :-) It had crazy views in just a couple of days, more than 3 million last I saw.

    • I’m playing Uncharted 2 can’t wait for Uncharted 3! What is it now 23 days till release?

    • Really looking forward to more PS2 Classics.

    • Hey sid any new U3 news this coming week? That new desert demo is absolutely gorgeous. I can’t wait to play this game. What level are you in the multiplayer?

      • I am playing multiplayer, in between chores and Rage sessions after being out of town all week. :) I’m sure you’ll continue to see new U3 news leading right up til launch day, so keep your eyes peeled.

    • ico and shadow of the collosus on best buy sale 25 bucks i cant pass that deal also god of war origins 25 bucks but ico and shadow im sold!!

    • taking my time as i replay Ico… its been 10 years! also i m grinding through UC3 subway multiplayer. Tons of fun

    • I’m playing Odin Sphere. Its not a remaster but it plays a lot better then the disc. They really made them to work for the PS3. I haven’t encountered any of the troublesome slowdown and the loading doesn’t feel as painful as it once did in the Sphere.

Keep the “rare” titles coming the ones that aren’t likely to get HD. I’ll slap you if Ratchet and Clank come out before something like Baldur’s Gate DA.

      • Glad to hear that — i haven’t had a chance to snag any PS2 classics yet, but this is very encouraging to hear!

    • Please fix the facebook photo album support in the PS3 photo album. It no longer pulls photos from my facebook photo albums.

    • Dark Cloud please
      Dark Cloud 2 please
      id buy them instantly
some of the most underrated rpgs and they are some of my favs. i put atleast 500 hours into dark cloud 2 b4 on ps2

    • looking forward to finally playing pixeljunk sidescroller in a few weeks , that was the best thing about the only on psn post – that it had the release date for the next pixeljunk game , it looks so awesome

playing modnation racers ( finally got it , really fun , check out my mods and karts everyone including south park mods , a mr. T. mod and A-team kart , red skull from captain america and others )
finished reading a book about navy seals in the early days , it has a chapter on Rudy from surivivor fame who was an original seal and total badass
      watching fringe

    • Eh Teflon02, take a look over on the PS Blog share section. There are a few things you can vote for relating to that.

Good stuff otherwise this week, looking forward to picking up Sideways:NY. Gotta support Canadian games.
Little bit disappointed about the lack of notice on the Toronto Meet up, gotta work in the evening on Wed. Few more days/weeks always helps on these events.

Final push, gotta call for support on the share blog. Everyone loves double sided covers, right?
Help Canadian gamers by supporting the request for getting those covers up here.

    • hi Sid,

any news on sorcery? it has been a long time..

    • Good week, Sid!

Playing: Uncharted 3 Multiplayer experience, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. Cannot wait for the full Uncharted 3 experience.

Watching: Finished every X-Men episode on Netflix via PS3, The Godfather, baseball playoffs, Boardwalk Empire, Atlanta Falcons football, Long Live Play Ad, King of the Hill on Netflix via PS3.

Reading: Harry Potter and the Goblet Fire

Hey Sid, starting to get more ancy about Twisted Metal again. You guys have done a great job getting us more regular info when the delay hit and all of that, and for most of 2011. But me being the die hard Twisted fan I am, I’ve gotta return to my pestering ways because it’s been a couple of months since any news, and I’m starting to get hungry for info again.

I know the release date is Valentine’s Day, and we probably won’t get any press news until December or so, but I was just wondering if that’ll be an accurate time when we’ll get some more news, and if not, when will we get more news? Also wondering about a demo. Hope that hits soon.

Loved that Ad. Sackboy and ST playing chess was a riot. Also the emotional power of the commercial was great! Thank you all for that!

      Long live Playstation!

      • Yep, I think they’re laying a little bit low while they pound on the game — just guessing based on Jaffe’s Tweets. You’ll see plenty more Twisted Metal on the Blog, and soon.

    • *Goblet of fire. Sorry to post again, hate when I make grammatical errors like that.

    • Hi, Sid, great week but my pre-ordered Dark Souls STILL hasn’t arrived. Damm u Amazon!!!

Playing Ico & Death Spank which is mindless fun.

And feeling pretty sad over Steve Job’s death. I’m no longer hopeful about future innovations, & I don’t just mean by Apple.

    • waiting 4 gran turismo 5 dlc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! finally!!!!

    • I’m playing: Rage, Dark Souls, NBA JAM, Crysis

      Watching: Netflix, Fast and Furious

    • Whoa, nice week for Playstation! I can’t get the feeling that the PS2 classics are just cash grabs, though. What, with all the “No HD” and “No trophies” sort of thing. Ah well. Good week overall.

I’m playing: Spider-Man: Edge of Time, Sonic Adventure
I’m reading: The usual. Where’d I put Neverwhere?
I’m watching: Television, thanks for asking!

    • GT5 DLC post incoming in…?????

    • I am playing: Rage and BF3 Beta (not UC3)

I am watching: The Alien movies. Doctor who, sanctuary.

      I am reading: nothing

      I want: RE Zero

I agree PS2 classics is a cash grab. Sony could easily make a USB attachment with some kind of Emotion Chip

      • The Alien movies (the first two) are two personal favorites of mine. Eager to see more on Aliens: Colonial Marines…

    • To allow PS2 support. Even now systems are alot less to make. Why not add it and hope people will buy new ones for the holiday.

    • Please add more ps2 games

    • Been Playing: Rage

Been Watching: Transformers: Dark Of The Moon, Lion King: BD Diamond Edition, currently watching Go Diego with my daughter via Netflix

      Been Reading: The Blogs

I know I would buy another PS3 if would add PS2 support. I miss my Fat PS3! (died)

    • when is GT5 going to be 39.99?

    • Any updates on inFamous 2 Festival of Blood? The anticipation is killing me!

    • I’m Playing:Resistance 3 on ps3 (Rage and Darksouls on 360)

      I’m Watching: monk

I’m Reading: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

I’m Listening to: Opeth – Heritage

    • What, no Corpse Party shout-out? But it will be *sunglasses* Only On PSN.

    • I want Final Fantasy x and FFX-2 under the ps2 classics please

    • Playing: RAGE

    • Hey guys the long live play commercial is the ad on the front page of YouTube!! Over 7 million views Sony!!
You should make more commercial like it.
Here the link guys tell your friends!!!

    • I just hope, since I noticed a few more Dreamcast Titles are out this week, that the wait for Shenmue won’t be too much longer, not to mention Jet Grind Radio and Sonic Adventure 2

As far as PS2 classics are concerned, are they seperate from the HD remakes, like no trophies and what have you? It seems like older and cult classic titles will make their way into there, like Devil May Cry 1 and hopefully Okami, though I’d like to see an HD remake of Okami with choice between standard Duelshock controller and PS Move support.

Also, I’d love to see more of these commercials, Michaels everywhere demand it! Between this and our boy KB, you guys could make commercials actually watchable on TV again, and more importantly sell more PS products to the masses and making a triumphant return to the top!

    • Skyrim interview this week Sid? =)

    • Sweet thanks for the response, Sid!

    • Are any of the Blog guys going to be at the Toronto event this time around?

I got to say hi to Rey last time, and I catch a glimpse of Jeff once or twice.

    • I’d love to see Shin Megami Tensei’s series (like Persona 4) ported to the PS3.

As you can see from the success of Catherine on the PS3, there’s a huge demand for those kinds of unique games that blur the lines between JRPG and Western RPG games.

Having exclusive titles like that on the PS3 will certainly draw a lot of folks to the platform.
