  • I believe the reason to pick these up would be that they are awesome games and remastered in hd.

  • AWESOME NEWS once again :) first 50 percent off re4 HD for ps+ folks and NOW THIS TOO :D awesome

btw one thing i noticed is that even in the ps store it says re4 hd as 9.99 but when u actually go to purcahse it, the price comes to 10 dollars… sure its 1 cent but a slight error or something.. might wanna check into :)

  • @yazter

I’ve been reading a lot of your comments, and I tend to agree with most of them.

I don’t understand the hate for trophies/achievements. They really add a lot more replay value to games. Plus I like the idea of my overall gaming progress being recorded and kept. It also gets me to do things I wouldn’t normally care about doing, like 100%ing certain games, which ends up giving me more value for my money.

It is really lame that these don’t have platinums, especially at the $20 USD price tag, but they are still great games. i personally never got to play 4 or code veronica, so I’m very excited. Also, buying them just increase my net gain as a Day 1 PS+ adopter ;).

  • @yazter

    Also, sweet avatar ;)

  • I agree with all of you! The trophy junkies(I belong in this group), and the non-trophy junkies, the only person I don’t agree with is the person that thinks that the trophy system should be removed entirely…

  • If you can’t beat em join em, Trophies are here to stay, some of us embraced the idea as soon as it hit, some did so later on after seeing the value it involved/incorporated, some of us don’t care about gaining trophy levels. You admitted that you hate the trophy system, that you would love to see it ‘removed’ this puts you into a category all your own, not only do you not care about trophies, you want them removed from exsistance to everyone in the world, you have a deep hatred of them? Maybe you hate the color of trophies being offered? maybe the sound of the ding gives you a headache? Maybe trophies bring back horrible scar-filled childhood memories? Please elaborate to why these trophies are so awful that they need to be removed?

  • Or Maybe now that they’ve added a competitive edge to gaming as a whole you are afraid that you won’t stack up, or be much competition? Your quickest response along with many others I’ve seen before is “I hate trophies Who needs em They’re not important” Really? Come on maybe you’re not a competitive person, but your comment suggests that part of you is, and is afraid that you won’t stack up in terms of trophy collecting, I have confidence in you, don’t just be a gamer, be a winner come stand with us you will see the point.

  • only thing that should be removed is the use of ” real gamer, hard core gamer”
its incredible to read how ignorant one can be toward another gamer over a matter of choice/opinion..
passion defines a “true/real/hardcore” gamer. if one thinks trophies or kill/death ratio defines “greatness and realness” well im sorry but i disagree.. trophies are a part of gaming, its a take it or leave it. i chose to go w/ the flow of the next gen gaming scheme of things, instead of going against the grain, but i do believe that trophies / points did add a spin to ones who have been gaming for many years, and i also think that it had an effect on the overall pleasure but one could argue that it adds a different element to enhance gaming exp and this is also a valid point. so i have learned to accept trophies and dont mind obtaining them, i dont hunt them but could see why someone would. there is no wrong or right in regards to trophies. fact is that they are a part of this gaming generation and one doesnt have to like it, but to “hate” on someone who does isnt a good way to act in my opinion. removing trophies would be a disaster to the platform who would do it. will never happen. not in this gen

  • and i must add that trophies add more of a creative edge/feel.. well thats what i think anyways..
but like kedaro said, trophies did in fact grow on me. and when i was first introduced to them i was more concerned w/ change and comfort zone, didnt know anything about it and took a level of “mystery” out because of the fact that one can use a p.c. etc to find hints/cheats to conquer certain challenges. but its irrelevant now , ony because they are part of the gaming exp. but opinions and dislikes are never irrelevant and respected by myself, but one must ask, if a person cant overcome the addition of trophies then how can one continue to play? like me saying i hate dual shock 3 controllers but use them every day. having cake / eating too.. so obviously it isnt that big of a deal if one still games. i am willing to adapt or be open minded regardless of the turn gaming takes or throws my way, times change but my love of gaming will always stay the same the same..

  • After playing this game several times on release originally, I just don’t see it being worth $20 for nostalgia. I mean, PayDay: The Heist is the same price and that’s a pre-purchase new release.

  • I used to hate trophies too, but then I realized things change, I’m getting older, so is gaming, and then got over it.

I still dont collect them activly but have been able to let go of the hate I have for people who do…because things change. It’s as simple as that.

I suggest that some of you out there need to make this realization before you start sounding even more like your grandparents complaining about e-mail And cell phones…

Just to put it out there, I’m 26 if this makes you wonder.

  • RE4 is awesome and has great atmosphere!

  • A buy for meh!

  • it’s ironic that Resident Evil started on Playstation back in the day
fast foward to present day, we get the short end of the stick when it comes to Trophies
    360 gets 1000gs
    no platnium on PS3?

  • Why do most of the people on here whining about the lack of platinum barely have any platinums? I’ll be buying this one like I bought the other one, and I probably have more platinums than you.

  • What a sweet addition to the Classic HD remakes, and for 10 buck no complaints here…

  • silly people thinking these are remakes

  • RE4 gives me that anxious feeling that RE5 never gave me. I enjoy it. =]

Might pick this up considering I have never played it.

  • As simple as it is I bought this game despite the lack of a platinum, and almost instantly regretted it. While a great game (I’ve beaten it three times on three different platforms) additional trophies for things like collection and kill stats would have given me new and interesting things to play around with in a game I love. Also the lack of move support feels like a huge miss, however I get the feeling we can blame Nintendo for that and not Capcom .

  • Well I’m a huge Resident Evil fan and have purchased all of them in the past, even on the PC, so I will be getting this game as well to go along with 1-4 that’s sitting on my PS3 HDD right now! 50% off is a great deal, and I hope you give the HD treatment to Resident Evil Survivor as well sometime in the near future! I also would love to see an HD remake of Outbreak and Outbreak File 2! Make it happen Capcom, make it happen! :D

  • It is NOT TRUE HD!! So Sony i would appreciate it if you would only call these “HD Up-scaled”…

  • Just to clarify, the only way a PSN game will have a platinum trophy is if it has a retail release as well.

  • are those screen shots from the hd version? it looks ugly, capcom is really dropping the ball with these remakes

  • @167

thats not true there are psn only games with platinums, its just that the company making the games need to care about their product

  • I love trophies, got 22 plats. Am I bummed this didn’t get a plat. Yes..

    But..

This was the best RE in my book, with or without trophies… a day 1 buy for me!

    Good old Dreamcast memories!!!

  • Really enjoying RE4 HD, although I’m still really bummed about no move support. My move has literally gathered dust, which really pisses me off. I don’t care about trophies, the move isn’t getting nearly enough support as it deserves. And since there’s already an RE4 on Wii, theres no excuse to exclude motion control for this latest version. What’s the deal? I don’t mind code Veronica on a dual shock, though.

  • @73 I just told you only 90% of allpsn games dont have a platnuim it was nver a issue. Psn games only go as high as gold. How do i know kaz haiari siad so himself. If you been here long enough on the forums/blog you have seen when they explain’d trophies back in 2007. ANd yes they dictate what games has trophies, all games will have trophies but not all of them will have platnuim. They only use platnuims for retail games or games made by sony out of respect for the sony brand. If it get a platnuim they have ask sony persmission.

Hd remakes dont get a platnuim unless they made by sony. or the devs of them get permission to do so from sony. But its on the dev to put it there to start and it has never been problem allwing games to have plats to my knowledges. Agn this fall on capcom and fans wanting them.

  • @73 . I would also like to say that most devs were not giving us trophies or patching trophies in their game for us when ps3 1st came out. We cried and begged and fought for them.. SOny made it manditiory for every game that comes to the brand to have trophies in them. A platnuim throphy is optional for the dev to make.. that is not sony call ,. but sony will make every sony made game have a platnuim or if dev want a platnuim sony will allow it. It has nvr been a problem . How do i know ./ Becuase i was here in onthe blog in 2007 when they explain these things and changes for the brand.

Do sony dictate what what games has trophies… Yes. all of them will have them if they want to work onthe ps brand. but they dont not dictate the devs making a plat trophy that is on the dev of it .,And when they do its not problem. Unless it a psp title/mini title. Other than that psn games only go as high as gold trophy..platnuim is optional by the devs of it. If its not sony. All retail games will have platnuim .Psn games are not required to have platnuim..its a option

  • ha! trophy hate. I don’t care about trophies but I think it just looks lazy on capcom’s part when it can’t take more than 5 minutes to make that trophy.

But I won’t be buying this. Why? Well because it’s EXACTLY the same and I’m holding the PS2 disc in my hand right now. And even if I didn’t have the disc it’s selling for 3 dollars on Ebay right now.

There we go with Capcom re-releasing games again, but this time they didn’t add or update anything. It’s pretty bad when they make an image sharper and call it HD but we are stuck looking at the same graphics it had before.

  • Oh my another bunch of wining about trophies, what about the game experience people? This is a sure buy for me.

  • *Cries at the thought of trying to A-rank this game due to not being allowed to save at all*

  • … I am and always will be a “Biohazard” fan, but seriously? I’m not dishing out twenty (or even ten if I was a plus member) just to play a game I have several variations of as it is. Though I will always admit that the “story” to Biohazard: Code VeronicaX was and always be one of the “strangest” of them all. Not to mention one of my favorite games to the series (though it could have always been “more”.)

  • i am so torn on getting this game. I love RE, i have an umbrella tattoo on my back…..i bought 1-4 on PSN and i have RE5 gold. but i only re-beat RE 1 out of 1-3….i played 2-3 for like an hr but didnt save or play seriously. I bought 4 because i never played it before. The trophies are not enough to make me buy it, and the graphics look like crap. But it would complete my collection.????????

  • @175 comicfan007

If I want to experience the game, I can just play this on one of the other consoles I own it on. I have RE4 on GC, PS2, and Wii. I have RE: CV on DC and PS2. My PS2 is connected to my TV permanently as it is the best console ever made. Even if it wasn’t, it would only take a couple minutes to hook up.

This argument people say about PSN platinums being optional. Capcom could have easily added a platinum, Sony would have never said no because these were once retail titles and two very popular titles too.

Even though most of the blame lies on Capcom, Sony also shares blame because they could have forced them to include a platinum when they learned that Xbox is getting the 1000 GS. They could have refused to publish the game until a platinum was added so that their loyal Sony fans aren’t getting the short end of the stick. They don’t seem to care either.

Oh well, that is just less sales for them. If you screw your fans, you lose a customer. If you want to make money, you have to invest money. While some people here are idiots and allow themselves to get ripped off, others are smart and won’t stand for this crap.

  • I fail to see how 1000 GS = Platinum Trophy. This game has the same trophies as 360 has achievements. Do they get extra points for getting all the achievements? No. And if you don’t own a 360, why do you care? Even if you own a 360, why would you care? That’s just sad.

If you already own 1 or more copies of this game, why in the world would you buy it again? If you own it on PS2, there is basically no difference. If you own a Gamecube, hardly any difference. The only difference is the motion controls on the Wii. If they added Move support, sure it would be better. But they didn’t so no reason for anyone that has several copies already to buy this unless they never played it, want a digital copy, or wants a slightly “HD” version. I got Re4 because I never finished my original copy.

    @Digital-Big-Boss
How did they screw fans? Don’t say it’s because it has no platinum.

  • cool im getting this game i did not like resident evil 4 and the game looked the same as the ps2 version but i can see a huge difference in this game hopefully its better

  • You guys act as if the game has NO trophies. One platinum trophy isn’t going to kill you.

  • How are trophies competitive? most of them are awarded for just playing through the game, thus buy a lot of games, you’d have a lot of trophies. Personally, I hate them and would delete everyone from my list if it were possible. The only people who care about them are basement dwelling nerds.

  • im on this tuesday, i got all the resident evils but gotta get resident evil 5 gold on wensday i never played 4 cuz i never had a gamecube but i just played 4 now n the beginning is kinda creepy really lol.

  • @32 you are not a true gamer my friend, play the game because of the GAME. Not so you can show off you “cool” little points. Sony, don’t listen to him!

  • Hello everyone! I would really love to play Resident Evil 4 and Code Veronica as I have not played them, I’m happy I may be able to play it on my Playstation 3, hopefully when I am able to purchase my first PSN card :) well ciao!

  • I never really got to play this game except for a couple hours. I can’t wait to be able to actually play through this game ~

@anyone who talks about ‘move support’, the game isn’t fit for it. This is not like RE4, it would be horribly awkward to use the move controller on.

It’s no big loss to not have a platinum. To those who love trophies it is though. And people should be mindful of that. Like it or not, trophies have done a great deal in getting people to get Playstation 3’s. So, when they slack on the trophies end, it’s not that unusual to see people complain.

That’s what they’re here for. Don’t be so harsh on them. Just be happy you get to play an awesome game, and leave those alone who are legitimately complaining.

I will be one of those who will be happy to play an awesome game =^-^=

  • i am sick and tired of the conversation about trophies, look these games are excellent, i bought re4 and i am getting this one these days dev only care about making money and rarelly worry about quality we get ripped off alot by so so games at $60.00. these are amazing games for $20.00 for psn+ come on people these games might not be true hd but they look alot better than before and again there amazing, so stop platinum no platinum, hd not hd just enjoy these games the two of these plus resident evil 1,2,and 3 will give you many hours of enjoyment dev should take lessons from the hated capcom and try to release quality games like the resident evil series.

  • I love trophies, I really do. However, just because a game doesn’t have a plat trophy doesn’t make it less of a game. RE4 and Code Veronica X were both good games and I will get them based on that, not based on what trophies they have or don’t have.

  • @Digital-Big-Boss

If you dont like it dont buy it, simple as that.
Code Veronica its an excellent game option and a sure buy for me day one.

  • i didn’t know trophies are a make or break when it comes to buying a game haha.

i’am more concerned about online multiplayer

  • Ah gotta love this age of video gaming. Gamers nowadays need virtual trophies to tell them they are doing a good job. Do you have any idea how many PSX and PS2 games I accomplished everything in just for the hell of it? Did I get a trophy telling me “Hey good job, you accomplished everything…you rock bro!”. No. I didn’t.

Yeah yeah I get it, trophies add replay value and extend the life of a game. That was a nice theory at first, but now people are playing lousy games from beginning to end just to get a platinum trophy. I like how these “gamers” will play movie license games or Hannah Montana to get an easy platinum but will skip out on GEMS like Resident Evil CVX and 4. lol virtual achievements, what a concept.

  • So is there any possibility we’ll see the remake of RE1 and RE0 hit the PSN someday?

  • @CynicalNerd

    Exactly

  • I won’t but RE:Code Veronica because I still have the disc. I bought RE 4 & wish it was a remastered HD. Great games even with fake HD & skimped out trohy system!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
