Featured New Releases on Music Unlimited:
Pearl Jam – Pearl Jam Twenty Original Motion Picture Soundtrack: One of Cameron Crowe’s best known movies, Almost Famous, was based on his travels as a teenage music journalist following the likes of Led Zeppelin and other rock giants of the 1970’s. It’s no surprise Crowe was asked to hit the road once again to capture one of the most dynamic rock bands of this generation, Pearl Jam, and record the career-spanning documentary, Pearl Jam Twenty, in celebration of the band’s second decade. The complementary soundtrack is a staggering, near-30 song compilation of live performances that trace all the way back to the band’s early demos and first shows. An absolute must-listen for PJ fans, and a great way to discover what makes a band last for 20 years and beyond.
- If you like: Nirvana, Bush, Soundgarden
Recommended Track: “Alive” (Live at The Moore Theatre, Seattle, WA – their third show ever!)
Tony Bennett – Duets II: In his first Duets: An American Classic album in 2006, Tony Bennett teamed up with some of the biggest stars across a range of genres: Tim McGraw, Bono, John Legend and Paul McCartney (to name a few) to celebrate his 80th birthday. Now, for his 85th, he has released Duets II, another stacked collection of songs with performances alongside Lady Gaga, John Mayer and Carrie Underwood, as well as the much anticipated single with the late Amy Winehouse, “Body and Soul.” The only thing more impressive than the list of guest stars is Bennett’s own effortless and timeless performances that showcase why he is considered by many to be the best singer in the business.
- If you like: Sheryl Crow, Norah Jones, Josh Groban
Recommended Track: “Watch What Happens” (ft. Natalie Cole)
Superheavy – Superheavy: Talk about an appropriate name for a band. Five musicians from different walks of musical life: Mick Jagger, Dave Stewart, Joss Stone, Damien Marley and A.R. Rahman, join together for a rich and soulful set that stretches the boundaries of anything each has attempted previously. We saw the first single, “Miracle Worker,” make it’s way to the top of our Music Unlimited Rock charts over the summer. Be sure to check out the full album for more of this great collaboration.
- If you like: Mick Jagger, Joss Stone, Damien Marley
Recommended Track: “Unbelievable”
