We recently announced our partnership with DIRECTV to bring their most popular sports subscription service, NFL SUNDAY TICKET, directly to you via your PlayStation 3. Starting later today, you can access the direct link in the My Channels category under the TV/Video Services icon on the XMB (XrossMediaBar) or head over to the media category of the PlayStation Store to download the app in anticipation of the new 2011 NFL season.
This Sunday, PS3 owners without access to DIRECTV will be able to live stream every out-of-market Sunday NFL game on their PS3 with a subscription to NFL SUNDAY TICKET. You’ll be able to enhance your NFL experience with live multi-game scoreboards and field position trackers, which also allow you to access highlights, stats, standings and schedules, as well as the Red Zone Channel, which gives you live coverage of Sunday’s most exciting moments. The subscription for the 2011 season can be purchased directly through the app for $339.95. Existing subscribers can use the PS3 as an additional receiver in their home, as part of their NFL SUNDAY TICKET To-Go package, which is purchased through DIRECTV.

Get NFL rewind only $40
@50 it’s all about popularity. Plus who the heck wants to watch that much baseball…..
Baseball is a terrible sport to watch on TV, ergo they have to entice viewership through a cheaper price.
Ugh, I want this so bad… Go Giants! See you in week 3 Jeff!
@53 Amen to that….
Man, I’m really tempted to swoop this up with the $85 payment a month plan but still a high price to pay for a seaon. Hmm…
The main hang up with these sports apps is Black Outs.
Kills the deal in every way. Hopefully everyone can get beyond this someday.
This is easily one of the awesomest things I’ve ever seen any company do in the history of ever.
So, so thankful to Sony and DirecTV for making this happen. Thank you a million times over.
$85/mo is above my interest level for NFL, BUT I hope this – getting cable TV services/alternatives – is a trend for the PS3.
I would be thrilled if, in the future, I could order ESPN, Fox Sports, the PAC-12 channel, a news channel and say, HBO a la carte through my PS3. I could drop my cable service and roll with just broadband. (Maybe throw in History, NatGeo, G4, etc as other options…)
The PS3 is getting close to becoming a legit HTPC, but doesn’t play nice with a cable box, and falls short of offering enough services to eliminate need for a cable box.
I see this NFL (and MLB) offering as another step in the right direction, though.
Go Cowboys!!!
Looks awesome but a bit to pricey for me. Way to many games I want to buy to pay for this lol =)
a 9 billion a year entertainment entourage. i think they could do better than expecting all of us who have to work very hard for what little money we get by making it say 200-250 per year, if it was about 30% cheaper i might even be able to convince my wife in buying it, but only if a bit cheaper. you would think with all the money they make, they might go easy on the fans.
I’m not sure why everyone is upset with the price. It comes out to $19.99 / per week over the 17 week season to watch you favorite team(s). Not a bad deal at all.
I’m not all all upset about the price, $85 a month is doable for me. The only thing I’m worried about is my internet is 3.0 Mbps, and I hope that is fast enough. I already checked, and it is the fastest available in my area. I’ve never had any problems streaming from Netflix. Also, I understand that it is ‘Sunday’ Ticket, but are Thursday night games, and Sunday night games for that matter watchable?
The NFL Sunday Ticket app is for Sunday games only, with up to 14 games each week.
