The PlayStation Network continues its summer dominance this week on The Drop. Take out The Jackal when the PS3 first-person shooter FarCry 2 joins PSN’s digital library of full-length PS3 games. Demos are also strong this week: You can try out Madden NFL 12 and Driver: San Francisco this week on PSN.

It’s WAY over due for something to be released. There has got to be an emulator to play PS2 on the PS3.

My poor PSP is having withdrawals from the lack of good PSOne or PSN games!
At least this is a good month at retail, with Catherine on the way in the mail, and Deus Ex and No More Heroes coming up. September-October are both chock full of big retail games, too, so if anything we should appreciate this wallet recharge time.

You know its bad when a demo of Madden is showcased
Why are so many people complaining about “The Drop”? Not every week is going to be filled with content, and not all the content is meant to appeal to everyone. They are going to over saturate the store with content; it needs to be spaced out properly.
1. This doesn’t list any downloadable add-ons for your games.
2. This week they’re also gearing up to start their Playstation Play program too.
Usually when the network has some kind of special going on, like this new Play Program, the initial week it begins is a lighter week of content, so they can showcase and put focus on that program. If I remember correctly, when they launched Playstation Plus a year ago, the week of its release, content was minimal to shift focus to it.
I agree with Sevyne and jvasq. Heck, would there be any problems just buying Parasite Eve 2 off the EU PSN?
Did want to check out both those demos but a bit shocked that there was nothing else. i wont get into psn plus debate just going to say that you take the good with the bad and a let down is only when you hope for something and i was hoping for something, anything,lol.. but hey theres always next week…… right?

I played and returned farcry2 the game is garbage and offers no real descion making whatsoever if its over 10 bucks dont buy….I read game infomer and part3 is more of the same please guys save ur duckkets for better titles like the new Driver

Far Cry 2 is $12.99 used at Gamestop….so about $10 for those of us with the card. I see PSN having yet another multiple year old game @ $19.99. (Gotta love how they include the prices….isn’t the “DROP” supposed to INFORM us……wouldn’t that be relevant information for the customers?)

too bad we will never see good ps2 and ps1 titles on the psn……this is purely speculation but my belief is that playstation dont own the rights to these great titles and they are having legal issues obtaining them if Im wrong then wheres the games at?????????????

Yes! Because i paid several hundred dollars on a game system that plays bluray based games so i can play outdated games. Omg, Sony and companies keep re-releasing stuff that we’ve already played instead of working and focusing on the current gen. Because legend of dragoon is well worth your time than anything else (beat the game, not as good as everyone thinks). You guys need help.

If anything we should be hoping for updated versions of the old games. With updated graphics. They are doing a Zone of the Enders collection. Hopefully they will update it a lot and not just port it. I’m excited for Ico, and Shadow because of the upgrade and 3d. Alrwady own both but will buy collection too.

@119 PS2 is the best selling system of all time, no other even comes close. The PS2 sold 1.6 Billion as of 2010, the PS3, 360 and Wii combined don’t even break 1 Billion. Sure porting PS2 games is great, but it would be even better if the PSVita could play them ;p
@deathspear666 i am leaning toward having that same feeling , other than a few good bundles i.e borderlands and burnout for like 8 bucks w/ dlc’s its basically getting access to certain games that have been in the psn store for which are not new by any means and then giving us them for “free” which really means you can borrow until subscription is up and then its gone. only when you actually pay is when you get to keep a psn plus deal which is great but where are the games? minis to me is not why i signed up for psn plus, i did to get deals/bonus content dlc’s like sect. 8 predj but other than that just because some recycle bin game is discounted, isnt in my opinion, a fair way to treat psn subscribers.. but they have a few good drops but far and few between, hopefully this will increase in the future which i honestly think and hope it will. i just bought a ps1 and 2 , 30 bucks for both and some games. but i need ps3 gaming but bought them just to have as a set. some of the older games are fun though. but if i get something for being a psn member i want ps3, thats just me

No doubt ps2 was awesome but if all we do is port over ps2 games to the ps3, is that really helping making the ps3 awesome. Also when ps2 came out, the economy was better. I think we should see more “sequels” based off ps2 gen. Beyond good and evil, ZoE3, BoF6 that doesnt suck like 5 did. I know B:G&E and i think ZoE3 are in development. This is what we should be pushing for. Thisis how they’ll make the $$$. Those are just some examples.

Since they brought the drop back, every drop for like the last 8 weeks as been bad. Some have had a few things here and there, but nothing great. Anything meaningful they have put up is overpriced. Mostly just decent sales from time to time, which the drop doesn’t cover anyways.
@Deathspear666 It’s called a PSP, they look pretty good on it actually. For the single purchase you get a copy on both your consoles to play. Not a bad thing for those with that ability. Much better than the drivel we’ve been receiving, especially in terms of PSP games. A lot of these “old” games make you laugh when you compare it to the crap we get these days for the most part.

@Deathspear666 Why? Because those are better in your opinion? Or this there a specific reason you don’t like psx games? Not everyone bothers modding their psp to play atari/nes/snes games. These classics play well on the PSP, don’t really have another option like it, and like I said before, actually seem to have a high quality game than most new psp games. With the digital option you also get to try games you might have missed, most people don’t have every psx disc ever made in their closet, or played even a decent percentage of the psx library.
The people that are posting / whining on this blog are the same people who I whoop in any online game and then they start crying “cheater, glitcher!!!” Just keep it shut if you are a little child. Yeah, I dropped something alright. I just took my Playstation 3 and emptied my ass all over this coming week’s releases.
