Starting soon, the PlayStation Network will be inaccessible for several hours for maintenance. The server maintenance performed at this time represents a crucial step in the full restoration for PSN, including the PlayStation Store.
During this maintenance period, users will be unable to sign in to PSN, though those that are already logged in should be able to remain online.
Resumption of full PlayStation Network service is still on track for this week in most regions.

Bad idea getting garage sale PS3’s warranty is out, who knows what its been through, simply put don’t do it…. at least buy from gamestop or play n trade or best buy or something they have to meet a minimum standard of operability in order to sell it, also no Black ops for free as several people pointed out Sony does not own the COD franchise (Curse you Activision and especially you Bobby Kotick). Also for NUMBER 811 Sony DOES owe us, its customers something because without us…. the customers who give them money….. Sony does not make money…. online free yes but they pay for online from other money. If they had no free online and people use Ps3 to buy games to play online for free… they lose money because no one buys their console or games or anything so whether you think so or not they owe us.

This comment goes mostly for the first page’s responses, since that is all I have glanced through. Anyway, Sony did NOT say the Playstation Store would be back up by May 31. They said that PSN will be back up by May 31. The Playstation Store is a part of PSN, but not the whole. Also, they did already give a timeframe for when they EXPECT the Playstation Store to be back up, but NOT when it will actually be up. No one can predict the future, just so you all know. That is completely 100% IMPOSSIBLE. The EXPECTED timeframe is by the end of this week, which will be Saturday June 4. There will be plenty of time for PSN to be back up by E3, but there are no guarantees, at all, for the Playstation Store. You need to learn patience.

the store wont be back.duh.if they say a week,they mean a week.cause you know when its back up they are gonna make a big deal out of it and you know for sure.they want your money more then you wanna give it.remeber that.
@SkitzStatus Not exactly true. I know PSN cares about us more than money , and even if they want our money , I could understand. They lost MILLIONS of dollars with they’re cyber attack. Plus one more thing , it could be up tonight or another month, PSN is like life , no one knows what is going to happen next =)

I would doubt it would be another firmware update , but it wouldn’t be a simple “Put in backround” download.
I cannot wait for the PSN Store to be up with the rest of you , and I am happy to be recognized to many here.

I was trying to enter to the store a minute ago, and it like started to load and everything, but after a while the maintainance sign appeared again. I think they’re almost finished :)
Last comment and I’m done for tonight….. Where is the update on the hackers…. I mean are they getting closer are there leads whats the deal…. Sony was quick to point out the random file left on their servers that basically said ANONYMOUS DID IT but since then squat zip zilch nothing. I wanna know if Sony is making progress are they getting closer are there leads is some FBI agent weighing three hundred plus gonna squash some crappy little hacker because I wanna see that on youtube ASAP and I also wanna see them securing my information. @819 frankensteining it will not work at all. Parts from different model PS3’s do not work with each other. I found that out when i tried it!..Swapped blue ray drives from a 60gig to a 20gig ps3 and it would not read even though the drive was in perfect shape.
The old fat PS3’S over heat it is a given to happen over time. I kept mine in a well ventilated area and took a lite vacuum to it twice a month to keep it from building any dust inside, it lasted a year and a half but got a YLOD 3 weeks ago. I have been through this 5 times since PS3 first launched. The old models over heat cause of the crappy thermal paste that was used. FAT PS3’s run hotter then the slims. the heat eats away at that paste once enough is gone the PS3 overheats which = YLOD.
I loved having a fat ps3 but gave in to son’ys offer when i called. I could get it fixed again for the $150+tax or give it to sony as trade for a PS3 slim 120gig for $99. Went with the Slim offer! Love it runs a lot cooler and is amazingly silent compared to the old fat PS3 i had. only thing i had to buy was a adapter for the extra usb slots and memory slot.

I do not mean to crush any hopes but they just began the real constructions of the PSN Store , i believe your PS3 may just have had trouble reading it. Sorry , I too would like to see the store up but I doubt they could get it done in under an hour.
