This press release just hit the wire – PlayStation Store and related services (like voucher redemption) back this week:
SONY AND SONY COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCE FULL RESTORATION OF PLAYSTATION®NETWORK SERVICES
Tokyo, May 31, 2011 – Sony Corporation and Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) announced today that Sony Network Entertainment International (SNEI, the company) will fully restore all PlayStation®Network services in the Americas, Europe/PAL territories and Asia, excluding Japan, Hong Kong, and South Korea by the end of this week. The company will also resume Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity™ for PlayStation®3 (PS3®), PSP® (PlayStation®Portable), VAIO and other PCs. Details for Japan, Hong Kong, and South Korea as well as the remaining services on Qriocity will be announced as they become available.
The company implemented considerable security enhancements to the network infrastructure, as well as conducted testing of the payment process and commerce functions. The first phase of PlayStation Network and Qriocity restoration began on May 15 in the Americas and Europe/PAL territories, followed by Japan and Asian countries and regions on May 28, when the company brought partial services back online. With this partial restoration users were able to access to some of the services such as online game play, account management, friend lists and chat functionality were restored. The full restoration of PlayStation Network as well as part of services to become available on Qriocity will include:
• Full functionality on PlayStation®Store
• In-game commerce
• Ability to redeem vouchers and codes
• Full functionality on Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity for PS3, PSP, VAIO and
other PCs
• Full functionality on Media GoCustomers will be able to purchase and download games and video content from the PlayStation®Store on PS3 or PSP. In addition, consumers will have full access to Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity through PS3, PSP, VAIO and other PC’s. Service restoration of Video on Demand powered by Qriocity™ and Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity for a variety of network-enabled Sony devices will be announced later.
“We have been conducting additional testing and further security verification of our commerce functions in order to bring the PlayStation Network completely back online so that our fans can again enjoy the first class entertainment experience they have come to love,” said Kazuo Hirai, Executive Deputy President, Sony Corporation. “We appreciate the patience and support shown during this time.”
The company will be offering customers a “Welcome Back” package of services and premium content to all registered PlayStation Network* and Qriocity account services. The details of this program will continue to be detailed regionally.
* Only available for those countries with access to PlayStation®Store.

there so worried about “infamous” to make any good games like primal, drakan, extermination or war of the monsters. Infamous is like an HD PS2 game. Not a good game and its so predictible and unrealistic. Its not a good game and its so cheesy of a story. Like when the dude gets shocked: ” whats happening to me” WOW very cheesy scripts. I played the game and got bored and started playing fallout 3. Add me on PSN and look at my trophies for it. I got 2 trophies and thats all i will get from that game.
so when is it gonna be up today or by the end of the week?
Let us keep complaining about not being able to spend our money… Perhaps if we cry and stamp our feet they will suddenly turn the store on and let the cash flow resume!!!

oh and there is a user on the PSN that keeps sending people messages asking for there PSN ID and PASSWORD and its a scam. It says: ” i am a sony moderator! To claim your welcome back pack, give me your PSN User and Password to verify! Thanks” Thats just what i got. I reported him too, my friends got the message as well.

im a loyal customer, i got a PS1 and a PS1 slim. I gotta PS2 slim and a PS3 slim, i got over 86 PS2 games, 23 PS3 games and 245 PS1 games. and 1 PSP game.
So everyone who says Sony is doing a crappy job, blah, blah,blah. Grow up. The get hacked, they have to deal with a crap load of problems, get hacked again, make sure Japan is happy with their services. At least they have given an update. Yes it’s been a long time coming and may not be today but there is hope. Instead of gripeing about when the store will be up why don’t you think about the people in Joplin, MO who don’t have homes or lost family members. Do you think they are even thinking “Boy I can’t wait for the PSN Store to be open.” And what about the people in Japan who have to work on this who may have lost someone in the disasters over there. Yeah I’m frustrated as well but I don’t need the store that badly. I really do hope Sony gets the store up this week though.

@1311 There is a differnce in how people do things. For one Sony had to prove to the Japanese goverment as well as credit card companies that their security was up to standards. I don’t blame them, if anything from the Japanese side got compromised and the cc info was used then Sony has to pay that back. Plus they have to work on the store in order to get people free month of service, make changes so plus content is taken care of ,and who knows what else. My comment was not to bash people by the way. It was to try to get people to think.

I wonder if Treyarch gave an official release date for their map pack yet since I can’t say I 100% trust Sony with dates but I hope we receive it right when the Store comes back up, I’m ready to buy.

@1323 be happy we got an update. Besides a target date does NOT mean it’s comeing up on that date.
The closer it gets the more antsy I get. It’s like Christmas, only I’m getting back what I had previously lost (I got my new PS3 while the store has been down, so I have 30+ games to download just to get back to even).

@acdcfan623 yes but if your a PC expert and server expert like me, you would know it dont take this long for a store to come up after an attack. What are they doing? Waiting for an alien ship to land and sony jacks there equipment for the server!

Its not postponed! Im in the US, in michigan and i cant sign into the PSN on my PS3. Its says the PSN is down for maintnaince. BLABLABLA. Sony you fail! HAHA my cookies on my PC let me stay signed in! HAHA . The psn is like this, its says 24/7 entertainment on the box. Someone buys it and hopes to get on PSN… there like WTF? Its down!!!????!!! 24/7?
