This press release just hit the wire – PlayStation Store and related services (like voucher redemption) back this week:
SONY AND SONY COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCE FULL RESTORATION OF PLAYSTATION®NETWORK SERVICES
Tokyo, May 31, 2011 – Sony Corporation and Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) announced today that Sony Network Entertainment International (SNEI, the company) will fully restore all PlayStation®Network services in the Americas, Europe/PAL territories and Asia, excluding Japan, Hong Kong, and South Korea by the end of this week. The company will also resume Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity™ for PlayStation®3 (PS3®), PSP® (PlayStation®Portable), VAIO and other PCs. Details for Japan, Hong Kong, and South Korea as well as the remaining services on Qriocity will be announced as they become available.
The company implemented considerable security enhancements to the network infrastructure, as well as conducted testing of the payment process and commerce functions. The first phase of PlayStation Network and Qriocity restoration began on May 15 in the Americas and Europe/PAL territories, followed by Japan and Asian countries and regions on May 28, when the company brought partial services back online. With this partial restoration users were able to access to some of the services such as online game play, account management, friend lists and chat functionality were restored. The full restoration of PlayStation Network as well as part of services to become available on Qriocity will include:
• Full functionality on PlayStation®Store
• In-game commerce
• Ability to redeem vouchers and codes
• Full functionality on Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity for PS3, PSP, VAIO and
other PCs
• Full functionality on Media GoCustomers will be able to purchase and download games and video content from the PlayStation®Store on PS3 or PSP. In addition, consumers will have full access to Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity through PS3, PSP, VAIO and other PC’s. Service restoration of Video on Demand powered by Qriocity™ and Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity for a variety of network-enabled Sony devices will be announced later.
“We have been conducting additional testing and further security verification of our commerce functions in order to bring the PlayStation Network completely back online so that our fans can again enjoy the first class entertainment experience they have come to love,” said Kazuo Hirai, Executive Deputy President, Sony Corporation. “We appreciate the patience and support shown during this time.”
The company will be offering customers a “Welcome Back” package of services and premium content to all registered PlayStation Network* and Qriocity account services. The details of this program will continue to be detailed regionally.
* Only available for those countries with access to PlayStation®Store.
We will update the PlayStation Blog when the PlayStation Store is once again open for business.

FINALLY i acutually began to shop for a 360 but i can scrap that ps3 way better
Will we ever get cross-game chat? I hope one day we can get that on PSN then all will be complete. I kinda feel like a mental patient sitting in a white room with nothing to stare at when I chat (even with video lol).

By the end of the week is not the end of May as they promised.
I have also alerted SONY several times about phishing attempts using my account email which was hacked and they have refused to post any information about these phishing attempts to the general public. Beware of any information which seems to come from SONY corporation since it is probably suspect. One of these attempts was using the new email address that I assigned my account to after the “fix” so they have been hacked since the PSN came up and requested password changes and have failed to notify users of this event. There are still major security issues related to SONY which have not been taken care of.
Screw it this is what im going to do…..
Go on PSP, check if the stor is up 3 times each day, Morning/Noon?Night.
I mean after all what good would come out of listening to reading yet another blog post that had more “We’ll inform you when we got it up.”. Like Cortana said to Master Chief……..

NOTE: im not a micosoft fanboy i am a fan of both Sony and Microsoft and own both consoles, and to those who are gonna say “They didnt promise anything!”, giving us a certain date that the store is gonna open is a promise, at least now they didnt screw themselves over, they said by this week, which could mean anything….
they did say it was a target not a that it was going to be up now they said it will beup by the end of the week which i would imagine it will be one country at a time a day to releive some strain on the servers that is my best guess

Even though there used to be a tues update sometimes it was more like midnight wed but with this huge backlog who knows what this week means and if they don’t hurry up e3 will be upon them-if i were sony i’d want the store up a week before my press conference on june 6th which is also when ms will have theirs and i’m sure ms will roast sony’s troubles touting xbl over psn but that’s to be expected.
Sony’s in the tough spot of coming after ms next week and will have to drastically alter their e3 briefing to reflect current circumstances-something like acknowledge,apologize and reassure the press,fans and world that playstation and psn have learned from these unfortunate events and are even better for having gone through such unfortunate events then some shout out to all the fans who stuck with playstation even when they couldn’t play online multiplayer.
However sony planned e3 it’s over now and must go something like the above to please everyone.

Crazy thing just happened!! I went to buy the Move/Socom bundle, I reached for my wallet and there was no money in it. Just a slip of paper that said ” This service is currently undergoing maintenance.”
