Identity Theft Protection Offer for PlayStation Network and Qriocity Customers

Starting today, PlayStation Network and Qriocity account holders in the United States can begin the enrollment process for the identity theft protection program by visiting http://us.playstation.com/news/consumeralerts/identity-theft-protection/. We are also notifying customers of the enrollment landing page via email, which you will receive in your inbox this week.

As previously announced, Sony Computer Entertainment and Sony Network Entertainment have made arrangements with Debix to offer the AllClear ID PLUS identity theft protection program to PlayStation Network and Qriocity customers who are concerned about identity theft following the criminal cyber attack on the network. AllClear ID PLUS is a premium identity protection service that uses advanced technology to deliver alerts to help protect you from identity theft. The service also provides identity theft insurance coverage and hands-on help from expert fraud investigators. Sony has arranged, at no charge to eligible PlayStation Network and Qriocity account holders, for twelve months of this service to be provided by Debix to those who choose to enroll.

In order to be eligible, account holders must be residents of the United States with active accounts as of April 20, 2011.

    We’ll know in just a bit if the store and promised items will be on tomorrow’s itinerary. If the Playstation Network is down tonight for maintenance or Home is down for the same reason, expect to see some goodies tomorrow morning!!!

    Sony is the best. I will always stay loyal to my PS3 and stay loyal to Sony. Wish luck to Sony on getting the store and other connections back up at full restoration. PS3 FOREVER! =)

    This is great news. This will probably put a lot of people at ease knowing that their account(s) security and personal information is protected. Of course after the first year it will probably become an extra paid service, but it’s nice to know that Sony is concerned about the safety of their customers.

    Hey, Sony. I’m just curious if we will have to personally contact AllClear at the end of the free 12 months to cancel, or will the subscription automatically end? If nothing happens with any of my information at the end of a year, I think I’ll be good, and don’t want to end up having to pay for additional protection. I’m still angry at the way you guys handled this whole situation (Mostly due to the lack of communication throughout…NOT because I was one of the nerds that became damn-near suicidal without the PSN. LoL.), but I really appreciate how you’re trying to make up for it. Sony is still bad ass. I’d really appreciate a response to this question. Thank you.
