Now that PlayStation Network is once again operational, a great many of you are once again enjoying playing games online. Of course, that’s only part of the Network’s offerings – and you’ve got some questions about how the downtime affected planned releases and online events. Here are answers to some of the more pressing queries:
Q: So what exactly is working right now?
A: Sign-in for PlayStation Network and Qriocity (including the resetting of passwords), online gameplay for PS3 and PSP, playback of rental video content on PS3 (if within rental period), Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity on PS3 (for current subscribers), access to services such as Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, and MLB.tv, “Friends” category on PS3 (including Friends List, Chat Functionality, Trophy Comparison, etc), in-game leaderboards, and PlayStation Home.Q: I’m having trouble changing my password/I forgot which email I used on my account/I used a fake email to set up my account.
A: Click here for a set of tips on resetting your password. If you’ve gone through the process and are waiting for an email from us, please note that the very large number of requests has caused certain ISPs to slow the rate at which recipients get emails from us. Please be patient as the systems work through the backlog.Q: The PlayStation Store hasn’t updated since April 19th. When can I download digital games that were planned to be released since then?
A: To date, three Tuesday publishes were missed, which included items like Under Siege and the MotorStorm Apocalypse demo. Rest assured that you won’t miss any of this great content. To catch up on the large amount of material, we’ll be publishing to the PlayStation Store multiple times per week once commerce functionality is restored. We will update the PlayStation.Blog with information on timing of the Store restoration, as well as the full list of new content as each publish occurs.Q: How will PlayStation Plus members be affected by the PSN downtime? A number of games/items were slated to go live or come down on April 26th.
A: We will be picking back up with the PlayStation Plus content calendar where we left off to ensure that you won’t miss out on anything.Q: Sucker Punch has indicated that they will extend the inFAMOUS 2 beta. Any details?

A: We have been in discussions with our friends at Treyarch, and they have ensured that all Call of Duty: Black Ops fans will get an extra Double XP event as soon as PSN comes back online. Oh it is an amazing feeling to be back online as we all can agree. Long over due, but no point in crying over spilled milk. Now spoiled milk is another story. Sony I am really disappointed in the games you listed for PS3 that we can choose from, you might as well have gave us titles like pit fighter, or killer instinct, oh those are throw backs right? Get real Japan. You guy are living it up playing playstation 9 and we get welcome back games from like 4 years ago? I mean with all due respect, I do appreciate the gesture, I am not one to bite the hand that feeds me, I agree with many users when I say screw those corny games you listed, it’s not about that. After so many days without Sony responding to our questions, no updates, nothing! Out of the blue they come here with a cheesy smile and offer us a welcome package like this? most of you are happy with those titles, because you guys are still playing demos!! this welcome back package must me like a steak dinner to you guys. is anyone having trouble with black ops..i could play earlier now i cant and keep getting different error codes..and when i can actually sign in when i go to find match it doesnt search for potential matches or if i get lucky and get into a lobby right before the match starts i get signed out of psn..its not my internet connection i have an excellent signal on my laptop..i just want to know if other people are having the same or similar problems

If I may make a suggestion, although many people say they would like to be given a $60 downloadable game or whatever other outrageous demands that have been made would it instead be possible for PSN to give a “universal credit” so we PSN users have the option of using said credit on something of our choice for example a free “add-on” credit for the new escalation map pack for Black Ops or similar DLC’s OR trying out Plus for a month OR Oriocity for a month etc. ? Anyway, just my own humble suggestion. Again I appreciate all you have done for us die hard PS and PSN users and I could not have asked for a better response and recovery on a FREE service!! Keep it up guys, stay classy Sony.

Although it was very frustrating to have to sit back and hear xcrap owners blab about playing online I must say that I am extremely grateful for all of Sony’s hard work, dedication, attention to detail, willingness to divulge (what I am sure was) uncomfortable and revealing details of the networks exploitation and (unfortunate) weaknesses. I commend everyone involved with the restoration and hope their hard work was compensated fairly just as us users are being compensated with ‘Welcome Back’ packages etc. I am honestly very impressed with the way Sony has responded to this ridiculous (and pointless) intrusion as well as the constant updates even when there wasn’t anything new to be said…..
I don’t care about the giveaways , and looking forward the PS Store opening .
I wanna play some Mortal Kombat , I am Happy that you guys are on the job getting things fixed.

Texss I agree with what you have to say, I also commend Sony for their hard work, I mean they really got shut down buy these hackers, and it was a tough recovery for Sony. I appreciate the gesture that Sony is offering back within the Welcome back package, I don’t want to complain about what they are offering. I am merely also making suggestions, and If they are willing to offer us 2 games of what they listed, at least Sony offer us the same thing you would want if we were welcoming you back.. Would you guys want little big planet, or SOCOM 4? give us a little better of a choice, seriously Sony, we love you guys. Show us that you love us back by giving us a game that came out recent, something worth downloading. I really would never play any of those games you have listed.

i registered my old account and it said a email will be sent to the email provided within 24 HOURS

This question is regarding the Free 30 days of PS+ membership. Will everyones the free membership be active as soon as PS Store is up and running? Or will there each account be able to activate the membership the next time they sign on? Because I’m currently attending summer classes (long distances from home) with out my PS3 so more than likely I will miss this opportunity.
First of all i’m truely appreciate all of the work the sony guys did to restore the psn, so thanks to all of you.

I can’t use MK Online until you the Playstation Store is up and running again. No code input will come up because every time I try and enter it in, I’m always getting the message, “This function is undergoing maintenance.” I’ll be anxiously waiting for the PS Store to return to full functionality.

@1502 No you will not lose your Map-packs/Add-ons. PSN automatically has everything you purchase backed up for Download at a later date. All you need to do is sign in with your current online ID on the new PS3. However, as per the outage, I do not know how using your Online ID on a new PS3 would work, seeing as how the update 3.61 forces an update and Password Reset. Minus that probability, Yes you should very well be able to keep all of your Downloaded Content.
When is there going to be another double XP weekend for black ops.

Please, solve the problem with Hotmail. Nobody is able to receive the email to reset your password. I think Microsoft has blocked these emails. A lot people are unable to access the PSN for this reason.
