Now that PlayStation Network is once again operational, a great many of you are once again enjoying playing games online. Of course, that’s only part of the Network’s offerings – and you’ve got some questions about how the downtime affected planned releases and online events. Here are answers to some of the more pressing queries:
Q: So what exactly is working right now?
A: Sign-in for PlayStation Network and Qriocity (including the resetting of passwords), online gameplay for PS3 and PSP, playback of rental video content on PS3 (if within rental period), Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity on PS3 (for current subscribers), access to services such as Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, and MLB.tv, “Friends” category on PS3 (including Friends List, Chat Functionality, Trophy Comparison, etc), in-game leaderboards, and PlayStation Home.Q: I’m having trouble changing my password/I forgot which email I used on my account/I used a fake email to set up my account.
A: Click here for a set of tips on resetting your password. If you’ve gone through the process and are waiting for an email from us, please note that the very large number of requests has caused certain ISPs to slow the rate at which recipients get emails from us. Please be patient as the systems work through the backlog.Q: The PlayStation Store hasn’t updated since April 19th. When can I download digital games that were planned to be released since then?
A: To date, three Tuesday publishes were missed, which included items like Under Siege and the MotorStorm Apocalypse demo. Rest assured that you won’t miss any of this great content. To catch up on the large amount of material, we’ll be publishing to the PlayStation Store multiple times per week once commerce functionality is restored. We will update the PlayStation.Blog with information on timing of the Store restoration, as well as the full list of new content as each publish occurs.Q: How will PlayStation Plus members be affected by the PSN downtime? A number of games/items were slated to go live or come down on April 26th.

Only thing I can think is the connection between aol and msn. yahoo has no issues I have seen or heard about.

Ok sony if someone can answer my question……would you be able to get both 2 free psp games and 2 free psp games if you have both systems? And will we also be able to download the psp games from our psp as well?

I copy pasted the link into my internet explorer, no way I was trusting AOL’s horrible browser. I did end up trying AOL’s browser I was that desperate.
I requested another email and token/link but who knows how long that will take because the last one took over 36 hours. Not much I can do about until Sony decides to answer more questions about the problems people are having changing their passwords.

Why in the world are you telling Sony to give 60 dollar games. your lucky they are giving us any good games at all. Or even a welcome back pack. Do you know what would happen to the creators of those 60 dollar games? They would go way down in price and all of the hard work they spent on it would be wasted. They would not approve of it. First of all I would like to give thanks to all Sony personnel for keep us update with all this problem;therefore, I have a question my friend bought a PS3 the same day that this network hack happen..and he open an PSN account the same day that the PSN went back, so i was wonder if he is going to be eligible for the WELCOMEBACK program for all the way he wait to play online.??? please answer this question..!
I am a new PS3 user. I bought it and brought it home and hooked it all up to find out the whole Network had gone down 2 hours earlier. So I have been waiting patiently, playing inFamous and Assassin’s Creed. But all the while, I was waiting to play the game I bought the whole setup for; DC Universe Online. So now that it is up again I got my PSN membership and account stuff all set up and DCUO has updated, but it won’t let me redeem my game voucher as a new player and that service is down for maintenance. Is that still part of the services that haven’t been restored yet?
Hey Jeff! Thanks for hitting so many people back with replies. I’m sure this has been asked a hundred times, but this concerns things like the new concept of “Online Passes” for games; ie. Mortal Kombat, Dead Space 2, etc. I know that you have to redeem those items, so they’re intrinsically linked with the PS Store, but is there any way to circumvent that link and since you’re not actually using the purchasing/e-wallet system, redeem ONLY things that, for instance, aren’t available in the PS Store, like the Ermac Outfit, Scorpion Outfit, Online Passes, etc.?
Just wondering if that was at all possible to do, and if there was any way you could pull it off (I kinda wanna play as Kratos in MK Online ;P). Any response would be awesome.

i just got dcuo on sunday because i heard the network was back up(which it is), but i cant play because every time i try to enter my product code it says “service undergoing maintenance”. Is that part of the playstation store? Is that why i can’t play yet or is something else going on? If that is it then the next question is when will the store be back up? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This is by far the first time I have ever posted a comment on this site, but, I just wanted to say that I’m sorry, but Sony has to do a better job, because if there is a “next time” and you get hacked again, then for sure you’ll loose all of your customers, also, if Mr. Seybold is reading this, I want you to know that in Puerto Rico, where I live, the psn connection has been very unstable, the connection fact, last night (about at 2:00 A.M), the network got the “Under maintenance” error, which I think is BS, also, a frriend of mine who got the ps3 before the psn got hacked, finally singed up for psn, except that when he was completing the process of singing up, there was an error and he could not finish the process. Sony, I’m sorry, but I already switched to Xbox 360, the ps3 is a great machine, but the people who runs the tech team and the PR team, are just not eligible to do such job.
With this I had made my point…..
I’m having trouble connecting to my ps3 via remote play over the internet. Is that service restored as well.Thanx

So that you know, your not the only one that cannot get DCU going do to the store being down. From what I have gathered, there is no other option. We just have to wait until the store comes back to enter in the code. It is the same for the people with MK and other games. They cannot complete everything until the store is up.
@ guitareduard you are a complete idiot. Sony even said on the undergoing maintenance it was due to high traffic which is expected when a company is requiring millions to change their password. The system was overloaded and they have done a great job. Plus read the blog the numbers that got hacked were from 2007 meaning they probably are not valid at all anymore since most debit cards expire within 4 years of aquiring them. Hey it’s 2011

Glad to see things are returning to normal, Sony. I am sure it has been a difficult month. I am just curious why updates aren’t being sent to our e-mail addresses. I was fortunate enough to stumble across the notice that PSN was back up tonight, but it could have been a couple of weeks before I noticed. Not everyone watches the blogs or checks every day.

ok.. heres a question. when the network went down, it fried out my 60gb ps3 fatboy. (it keeps freezing on start up, and even in safe mode) and i went and bought a slim. i could not register my user account because of the outage, yet i continued playing some of my newer games. when psn came back online, i added my account info.. but all of the trophies i earned during the outage don’t show on my total trophies list. not one. is there some way this can be “synced” or something? every time i try to sync, they don’t get added and i would like to have them on there instead of starting these games all over to re-earn them. thanks.
Oh and btw, GREAT JOB SONY! i knew everything would end up ok. (now i just wish you guys would fix my ps3 without charging me for it, seeing as how the outage caused it to mess up beyond use, not anything I myself did to cause it)
