Now that PlayStation Network is once again operational, a great many of you are once again enjoying playing games online. Of course, that’s only part of the Network’s offerings – and you’ve got some questions about how the downtime affected planned releases and online events. Here are answers to some of the more pressing queries:
Q: So what exactly is working right now?
A: Sign-in for PlayStation Network and Qriocity (including the resetting of passwords), online gameplay for PS3 and PSP, playback of rental video content on PS3 (if within rental period), Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity on PS3 (for current subscribers), access to services such as Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, and MLB.tv, “Friends” category on PS3 (including Friends List, Chat Functionality, Trophy Comparison, etc), in-game leaderboards, and PlayStation Home.Q: I’m having trouble changing my password/I forgot which email I used on my account/I used a fake email to set up my account.
A: Click here for a set of tips on resetting your password. If you’ve gone through the process and are waiting for an email from us, please note that the very large number of requests has caused certain ISPs to slow the rate at which recipients get emails from us. Please be patient as the systems work through the backlog.Q: The PlayStation Store hasn’t updated since April 19th. When can I download digital games that were planned to be released since then?
A: To date, three Tuesday publishes were missed, which included items like Under Siege and the MotorStorm Apocalypse demo. Rest assured that you won’t miss any of this great content. To catch up on the large amount of material, we’ll be publishing to the PlayStation Store multiple times per week once commerce functionality is restored. We will update the PlayStation.Blog with information on timing of the Store restoration, as well as the full list of new content as each publish occurs.Q: How will PlayStation Plus members be affected by the PSN downtime? A number of games/items were slated to go live or come down on April 26th.

and 2 games for psp if you got both you actually get 4 games and my sister will be downloading 2 on my 2nd ps3 and ill be downloading 2 on my original ps3 we both got psn ids so ya
when can MX vs ATV Alive prom codes be available. i pre-ordered that game to get the JS7 compound and I cant redeem it now. I have had the game for almost a week now and I am kinda pissed I bought it just for that reason. I know its not your fault but CT needs full restoration asap!! thanks for the hard work and let us know what we can do about it. I am sure everyone who went and pre-ordered the game is thinking the same thing.

um, i got a question, ever since the update for ps3 that allowed for online play again, the waw maps for black ops disappeared on my zombies list…… any solutions sony??? btw great job at putting the network back up!!!! Appreciated it!!!!!!

I finally got the email, I enter the code in the code box and it says there is a problem resetting the password. The issue is either with psp accounts or with msn accounts tied to psn, This is my problem with sony since the beginning, not the psn being down, but instead, the total lack of information. Come on Sony, you can do it, say “We don’t know”.

Ok i have all of these games. All of them….soooo….thanks for nothing. What about my Free Realms? I want my 22 days back i only bought a 1 month pass. Hell id take 2-3 month membership for that game over all this crap. What a slap in the face this is.

I don’t believe it’s got anything to do with MSN. I feel it’s got to do with the playstation store. Did you look at the code you copy paste or click on to reset your password? See the connection to the store at the front of the code? And we all know the store is down. That’s my theory and I’ve been waiting since 10:37 am pacific time for an answer from Sony. Code below:

I’ve waited 3 weeks to add a comment, My Computer which had my passwords cookie tanked.. I am furious at how long it took for sony to say the obvious, Get new Credit cards people.. WOW that took 6 days?? I still have a ps3, and I will keep it… As long as I like Blu-ray. But I sold all my disk games, I had no use for them when most were only worth playing online like MAG or Mod nation, or LBP2… I might get LBP2 again, but not any time soon.. I also deleted almost all my friends.. I was planning on doing it before the outage.. If you can’t at least message me or video chat with me once in a while, why bother requesting to be my friend? I want the people I deleted not to take it personally.. I just can’t have the same old dudes on a reboot of a system..
I did keep one friend, but that is because we constantly talk over other services (Facebook,skype,etc,.) If any of the people I deleted wanna be friends again, they are open to send a request. Just remember send me messages, I saw I messaged someone 10 times and they never replied once. Nice friend huh? BTW, I do have the other box, and have Enjoyed playing escalation MP.. My point is, I have better friends on my other box.. They cross game voice chat with me all the time. thats another thing sony needs XGC…

I guess, saying thanks might be repetitive since everyone is already saying thanks. I think we also should be thanking the people who worked around the clock to resolve the issuse and bring back PSN on line, BIG Thanks to all. I just hope sony expands thier list of selection to include killzone, mortal kombat or at least Marvel vs Capcom since every has a diffrent taste of game selection. I would appreciate if the above titles I mentioned to be included in the download list. But honostly, to me I would rather get 1 year of free PSN + subscribtion and the ID and credit, than 30 days of PSN + service and a selections of games that I wouldn’t even bother downloading like Wipe out, inFamous or etc.

Oh and I’m trying to reset a password for a PS3 account and my email is thru aol and it took them over 36 hours to send the first email with a bogus/busted link.
I also hope the “welcome back” bundle isn’t LAME.. I own almost all the Download games Sony makes.. I would like $100 credited to my store wallet, which sony would get most of that money back anyways.. I have had a ps3 (3 of them to be exact) since 2007… Don’t sucker punch me with lame compensation games Sony… I’m a PS+ user until September, so the 1 month free doesn’t mean squat to me.. I totally won’t renew..

It’s my understanding the link is only good for 24 hours, I don’t believe they will lock down the account you’re trying to change the password on. Let’s keep our fingers crossed just in case…..

You guys are doing an outstanding job! I appreciate the updated info & I’m obviously satisfied with the fact that the psn is up and running. Honestly don’t mind much of the store being down, I just wanted to play :] . Keep up the good work sony! If you have an account you haven’t used in a while, done any updates on, you needed to log onto the same PS3 you set up the account on. If you oddn’t have that PS3 (sent in for repairs, have more than 1 PS3 and don’t remember which you used) you try to log on and Sony blocks you from changing the password. In order to protect everyone’s account. Instead they stated they would send an email to your verified email account (within 24 hours) with instructions to reset your password. Only problem the link (which I believe is only good for 24 hours) they included is defective and you can’t change the password.
