Now that PlayStation Network is once again operational, a great many of you are once again enjoying playing games online. Of course, that’s only part of the Network’s offerings – and you’ve got some questions about how the downtime affected planned releases and online events. Here are answers to some of the more pressing queries:
Q: So what exactly is working right now?
A: Sign-in for PlayStation Network and Qriocity (including the resetting of passwords), online gameplay for PS3 and PSP, playback of rental video content on PS3 (if within rental period), Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity on PS3 (for current subscribers), access to services such as Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, and MLB.tv, “Friends” category on PS3 (including Friends List, Chat Functionality, Trophy Comparison, etc), in-game leaderboards, and PlayStation Home.Q: I’m having trouble changing my password/I forgot which email I used on my account/I used a fake email to set up my account.
A: Click here for a set of tips on resetting your password. If you’ve gone through the process and are waiting for an email from us, please note that the very large number of requests has caused certain ISPs to slow the rate at which recipients get emails from us. Please be patient as the systems work through the backlog.Q: The PlayStation Store hasn’t updated since April 19th. When can I download digital games that were planned to be released since then?
A: To date, three Tuesday publishes were missed, which included items like Under Siege and the MotorStorm Apocalypse demo. Rest assured that you won’t miss any of this great content. To catch up on the large amount of material, we’ll be publishing to the PlayStation Store multiple times per week once commerce functionality is restored. We will update the PlayStation.Blog with information on timing of the Store restoration, as well as the full list of new content as each publish occurs.Q: How will PlayStation Plus members be affected by the PSN downtime? A number of games/items were slated to go live or come down on April 26th.
A: We will be picking back up with the PlayStation Plus content calendar where we left off to ensure that you won’t miss out on anything.Q: Sucker Punch has indicated that they will extend the inFAMOUS 2 beta. Any details?

A: We have been in discussions with our friends at Treyarch, and they have ensured that all Call of Duty: Black Ops fans will get an extra Double XP event as soon as PSN comes back online. During the outage I lost my account totally, plus all my games were taken off my PS3 including rosters and other things that were saved on my hard drive? I think my old account was something like with Ps3 and some numbers with it. I also had for NCAA 11 football all the powers up as well that have taken, plus NCAA 10 basketball rosters and NCAA 10 football rosters that were stored on my system at the time of outage, now I can’t find them or games I have saved at all.
Can you help me??

Excellent work on restoring the network, however a question about when will the wallet option be operational. The management wallet option says my wallet is full to the limit which I haven’t added any money since before the network went down.
i need help. i cant get the app for mlb.tv to show up on my ps3, and cant sign into the ps3 store to download the app. any idea when or how to fix this

I was wondering if I would still be getting the free 2 months of PS+ or the free 30 days. I’ve been a PS+ subscriber since day 1, but my subscription lapsed during the PSN outage and I was unable to renew it. Either way I still get free time though. Thanks Sony, and keep up the fantastic work!!
I really like Sony :D I mean even though it took so long they upgraded their security so this might not ever happen again :p (Hopefully). Either way they did a great Job and I’m sticking with Sony forever until xbox comes with something better >:D (Just kidding). Anyway I can’t wait to see what games the “Welcome Back” program will include.
I’m glad it is back i don’t play online to much to begin with, but you guys handled this good not too surprised seeing it’s freeing Sony lol love this company cant wait till the store is up it makes me all excited and stuff everything will be normal soon ;)

So, I have more of a technical question that I can’t seem to find anywhere else. Whenever I try to log into PSN, my PS3 freezes up and I can’t do anything but pull the plug and wait for it to reboot. I have tried to wait for everything on the pages to load, but still have no success. Any thoughts that may help out? I’m definitely excited that things are back up, for the most part, and things are getting back to normal. A huge “thank you” to everyone involved in getting things back up and running, I’m sure it was quite the effort.

For some reason I cannot sign in? When I try to sign into a new account which I created a couple of days ago, it gives me an error saying: “You cannot sign in using another user’s sign-in ID (e-mail address).” ANY HELP?

Why everyone thanking sony for? They still haven’t done anything bout cheaters yet. You go play online and cant even enjoy it. People cheat so bad not funny. So yea. Just like people sold ps3 got xbox 360. Im going be one of them. That way be able play online without so many cheaters. Just so people know. I use to be loyal playstation fan. Have been since ps1. I just want play online. Enjoy it. And be able have fun also.

If you guys made us download a new update, why of Call of Duty 4 Still hacked? You guys should pay more attention to all these games, because im tired of going online and all games are hacked when i want to play the game the right way. . .This is something PSN and Treyarch should discuss, its ridiculous >:/

Thank you Sony, I was really shocked when my bank sent me a new cc because you told them about the accounts that were breached, thats why i stuck through and didnt jump ship to xbox, people can complain all they want about the fear of identity theft but i believe you did your part and that means a lot. keep up the good work and looking forward to the store being back online…

so what if theres still some cheaters? Just leave the lobby that ur in and youll get a cheater free lobby. Thats what i do. And maybe psn actually cant catch these cheaters or hackers watevr bcuz theyre good at covering their tracks. Give it some time and they will be caught and gaming will be fun again. I know that psn is doing their best and thats why im still loyal to psn.

Sony it says that people with existing playstation plus get free downloads for a month. What if your just now getting playstation plus will the same concept apply?? because i just bought a psn card to get the playstation plus, and i dont want to mess myself up??
