Now that PlayStation Network is once again operational, a great many of you are once again enjoying playing games online. Of course, that’s only part of the Network’s offerings – and you’ve got some questions about how the downtime affected planned releases and online events. Here are answers to some of the more pressing queries:
Q: So what exactly is working right now?
A: Sign-in for PlayStation Network and Qriocity (including the resetting of passwords), online gameplay for PS3 and PSP, playback of rental video content on PS3 (if within rental period), Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity on PS3 (for current subscribers), access to services such as Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, and MLB.tv, “Friends” category on PS3 (including Friends List, Chat Functionality, Trophy Comparison, etc), in-game leaderboards, and PlayStation Home.Q: I’m having trouble changing my password/I forgot which email I used on my account/I used a fake email to set up my account.
A: Click here for a set of tips on resetting your password. If you’ve gone through the process and are waiting for an email from us, please note that the very large number of requests has caused certain ISPs to slow the rate at which recipients get emails from us. Please be patient as the systems work through the backlog.Q: The PlayStation Store hasn’t updated since April 19th. When can I download digital games that were planned to be released since then?
A: To date, three Tuesday publishes were missed, which included items like Under Siege and the MotorStorm Apocalypse demo. Rest assured that you won’t miss any of this great content. To catch up on the large amount of material, we’ll be publishing to the PlayStation Store multiple times per week once commerce functionality is restored. We will update the PlayStation.Blog with information on timing of the Store restoration, as well as the full list of new content as each publish occurs.Q: How will PlayStation Plus members be affected by the PSN downtime? A number of games/items were slated to go live or come down on April 26th.
A: We will be picking back up with the PlayStation Plus content calendar where we left off to ensure that you won’t miss out on anything.Q: Sucker Punch has indicated that they will extend the inFAMOUS 2 beta. Any details?

A: We have been in discussions with our friends at Treyarch, and they have ensured that all Call of Duty: Black Ops fans will get an extra Double XP event as soon as PSN comes back online. I was able to update my password no problem when the network was restored, but my username contains part of my personal information and I would really like to change it to something less personal. I have been informed that usernames are impossible to change. I view this as a major oversight when my security is supposed to be a top priority for Sony. I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way.
If I delete this username then I apparently lose all of the work I have put into my account, and lose the content that I have previously purchased. There must be a solution to this problem. If that *Other* game company can manage to change usernames for a fee then I really feel that Sony should have no excuse. I understand you don’t want everyone changing their info all the time, but I feel that this is an extraordinary circumstance considering the events of the last month.

I was`nt able to access my netflix just about ALL of last month. And as i am dirt poor, was gonna be my last month i was able to keep the account. Can we expect to see any sort of compensation for that?? And i know, you can access your account on the pc. But i got mine to watch on tv, not to sit uncomfortably in front of a computer

For PlayStation Plus members what do you plan on doing about time lost basically 2-3 weeks I paid for are gone will they be redeemed or will we get some really cool exclusive content or do we also get 30 free days such as the normal users will it be redeemed in any way?
I wonder will this at all affect the black ops escalation pack release slated for June 3?
I was looking forward to playing the Honest Hearts DLC for Fallout New Vegas tomorrow but it looks like I won’t be doing that for quite awhile. This combined with the lost trust I have in your ability to maintain a functioning online network makes really makes the 360 sound good about now.
To all the Sony staff I want to say ‘thank you’ for being honest with this situation. I am a die-hard Sony fan, and absolutely refuse to speak ill of the company which has brought me so many wonderful things to enhance my life with. Although they’ve had a recent set-back with the hacking situation, they have always handled these moments well with grace and honor in the media. I will continue to faithfully support their company by choosing their products first over the competition every time. Once again, Sony Rocks!

@1089 Did u even read the whole thing? They said that PSN+ members calendar stop when they shut down PSN. So that mean if you have 5 day left before the outage, then you’ll have five days after the outage.
