Now that PlayStation Network is once again operational, a great many of you are once again enjoying playing games online. Of course, that’s only part of the Network’s offerings – and you’ve got some questions about how the downtime affected planned releases and online events. Here are answers to some of the more pressing queries:
Q: So what exactly is working right now?
A: Sign-in for PlayStation Network and Qriocity (including the resetting of passwords), online gameplay for PS3 and PSP, playback of rental video content on PS3 (if within rental period), Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity on PS3 (for current subscribers), access to services such as Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, and MLB.tv, “Friends” category on PS3 (including Friends List, Chat Functionality, Trophy Comparison, etc), in-game leaderboards, and PlayStation Home.Q: I’m having trouble changing my password/I forgot which email I used on my account/I used a fake email to set up my account.
A: Click here for a set of tips on resetting your password. If you’ve gone through the process and are waiting for an email from us, please note that the very large number of requests has caused certain ISPs to slow the rate at which recipients get emails from us. Please be patient as the systems work through the backlog.Q: The PlayStation Store hasn’t updated since April 19th. When can I download digital games that were planned to be released since then?
A: To date, three Tuesday publishes were missed, which included items like Under Siege and the MotorStorm Apocalypse demo. Rest assured that you won’t miss any of this great content. To catch up on the large amount of material, we’ll be publishing to the PlayStation Store multiple times per week once commerce functionality is restored. We will update the PlayStation.Blog with information on timing of the Store restoration, as well as the full list of new content as each publish occurs.Q: How will PlayStation Plus members be affected by the PSN downtime? A number of games/items were slated to go live or come down on April 26th.
A: We will be picking back up with the PlayStation Plus content calendar where we left off to ensure that you won’t miss out on anything.Q: Sucker Punch has indicated that they will extend the inFAMOUS 2 beta. Any details?

A: We have been in discussions with our friends at Treyarch, and they have ensured that all Call of Duty: Black Ops fans will get an extra Double XP event as soon as PSN comes back online. Many people say that the hackers will reattack the psn again on may 20th.
1.If they do attack the psn again, will the psn resist or will there be an outage again?

3.Why don’t we get escalation for black ops at the same time as xbox 360?
4.Can you add a cross game chat or whatever people call it into our welcome back package?
By the way,sony and your crew are doing a very nice job for the restoration of psn and playstation store and no matter what happens, I will stay and support Playstation 3 and Sony.I really hope you guys catch the hackers who did this and couldnt let me play online on the best console ever.

Okay, I have a very annoying problem that Sony created for me. I changed the email address password after their network got hacked, but now i cant remember the gmail password. Google has been a pain, 3x ive given them info to get the account password back and they keep saying im not providing enough. then of course, Sony sends the new log in info for their new netwrok to the email addy I cant access.
Anyone know ho wi can change the email address that is assigned to my Sony account?

@Spazinator: Thank you for saying so. I always wondered about this, why do people keep asking for Cross Game chat? Oh how wonderful it must be to have people chatting in your ear while you’re trying to immerse yourself in single player, or to distract you when you’re trying to hear teammates actually work together with you online! These are good experiences? I think it would make me play on mute more often, LOL. What I’ve found many times already is it would be ALOT more helpful if the text chat could be integrated into the bottom of the game screen. For convenient cross game chat, and for when both or one of you can’t use mics for whatever reason, you don’t want to be pressing PS button constantly and not see the game screen…..
That honestly I could see being WAY more useful than mic cross game chat…Don’t get on the bandwagon people until you think for yourself: would this really be useful?

1st off-AWESOME job to everyone that worked so very hard and long to bring this awesome network back online-I will admit that I was starting to get frustrated because of the lack of info that we were not getting from PSN, although I was not able to post comments (because of the lacking cookie on my computer-no fault to anyone)
To continue I have been refueling my cup of online play with playing Resistance 2 co-op and I am treating the Chimera with the anger that I had towards the cowards and juvenile behavior of those irresponsible people that brought this FREE network down, to continue on that thought, once your company has identified and brought these imbeciles where they belong(at the very least-jailed) will Sony and or Playstation Network release the identities of these idiots? If that is not possible, then can you tell us once they are apprehended.
I believe that to the millions that were affected by this external attack, should be given this info, so that way we can if it is our choosing to pursue our government leaders to enact harder and tougher punishments for people such as these.

@1031 if you’re trying to change the email address for a SUB account log onto your main account and you can change it that way. If it’s your MAIN account you’re trying to change I think you might be out of luck changing it since you can’t log in on that name.

Hey, I can finally comment. I got my PS3 replaced just in time for the hacking, and I followed this closely. Sony, given the circumstances, you did admirably. Granted you should’ve updated your security a long time ago, but you picked up the pieces very well. Now we wait for the store.

well once i turned my ps3 back on it says that my map for call of duty is missing when i say map i mean the jungle map and the summit map it wont let me play either of those on private or online

Thank you everyone at sony.I couldnt post during the downtime but I would like to say that I hope everyone that was whining and threatening to go to xbox did we don’t want people like you on here anyways :).I personally was miserable without psn however 3 weeks is extremely fast to rebuild a system so all of you grown children should get some knowledge and respect and say thank you and quit acting like someone owes you something all the time granted sony is going to give you stuff for the down time but they didnt hack their stuff they didnt cause this hackers did so if you feel someone owes you something how about finding them and shutting up thanks.

Because MS has an exclusitivity agreement with EA and the COD series. Every DLC from now till 2013 comes first for 360.

So the EU post you 1984d included that you had to have had an account on 4-20 to take advantage of the “Welcome Back” program.
Given that I bought my PS3 on April 22 and as such have literally never been able to use the PSN until yesterday, I expect the same compensation as everyone else is getting – when you announce the American program, you should probably include those of us who have been unable to use the PSN (which we paid for as part of the system purchase) for a month.
Make it so we have to fax in receipts, whatever, but it’s a pretty huge smack in the face to buy a new console and have nothing work online and also get no compensation for it.
I find it pathetic that they tell us to leave question that may not have been answer, yet they only do a handful and most of them have already been answer. Seriously how hard is it to just skim through the post to answer simple question? Its like why even bother asking a question when they never reply to it?

So, I had to make this account to ask this question because I am not able to log onto my main account and change my password. This reason is because I have not received my e-mail to change my password. I have already updated my system as soon as I heard PSN was back online. I tried it on my PlayStation that I originally set it up on and the computer, and no such luck has appeared. I tried it yesterday around 11 a.m., which is past 24 hours, what the blog claimed it would be the maximum of. Of course I realize the overdose of requests for it, by my real question is this:
Why have some users received the e-mail before others after they had sent the e-mail before them?

What about codes that expire(d) before the PS store comes back up? For example – ModNation Racers has a code for Sackboy that expires on 5/25. If it’s not able to be redeemed by then, will a replacement/extension be available?
