Now that PlayStation Network is once again operational, a great many of you are once again enjoying playing games online. Of course, that’s only part of the Network’s offerings – and you’ve got some questions about how the downtime affected planned releases and online events. Here are answers to some of the more pressing queries:
Q: So what exactly is working right now?
A: Sign-in for PlayStation Network and Qriocity (including the resetting of passwords), online gameplay for PS3 and PSP, playback of rental video content on PS3 (if within rental period), Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity on PS3 (for current subscribers), access to services such as Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, and MLB.tv, “Friends” category on PS3 (including Friends List, Chat Functionality, Trophy Comparison, etc), in-game leaderboards, and PlayStation Home.Q: I’m having trouble changing my password/I forgot which email I used on my account/I used a fake email to set up my account.
A: Click here for a set of tips on resetting your password. If you’ve gone through the process and are waiting for an email from us, please note that the very large number of requests has caused certain ISPs to slow the rate at which recipients get emails from us. Please be patient as the systems work through the backlog.Q: The PlayStation Store hasn’t updated since April 19th. When can I download digital games that were planned to be released since then?
A: To date, three Tuesday publishes were missed, which included items like Under Siege and the MotorStorm Apocalypse demo. Rest assured that you won’t miss any of this great content. To catch up on the large amount of material, we’ll be publishing to the PlayStation Store multiple times per week once commerce functionality is restored. We will update the PlayStation.Blog with information on timing of the Store restoration, as well as the full list of new content as each publish occurs.Q: How will PlayStation Plus members be affected by the PSN downtime? A number of games/items were slated to go live or come down on April 26th.
A: We will be picking back up with the PlayStation Plus content calendar where we left off to ensure that you won’t miss out on anything.Q: Sucker Punch has indicated that they will extend the inFAMOUS 2 beta. Any details?

A: We have been in discussions with our friends at Treyarch, and they have ensured that all Call of Duty: Black Ops fans will get an extra Double XP event as soon as PSN comes back online. Great job on the restoration process I know many of my customers are very happy as are we. With that said we will continue to drive sales and service of PS3 games, consoles and down loadable content.
When can retail employees expect the retail loyalty site to be back online and functioning?

I wanted to sync a trophy that I’ve unlocked, but when I did it said that it couldn’t sign in to Facebook because the password was incorrect. Is it because the Facebook application is still down, or I did something wrong while putting my new password?
Why is Red Dead still not letting me play online? It just says “You must be signed in to Playstation Network to access the online features of this game”. The thing is i am signed in to Playstation Network while it says this, what the heck is going on?
Sony give me my movie or give compensation. I refuse to wait any longer for you guys to get it together. I’ve been a loyal sony consumer since 1995 but i don’t see why i should keep supporting a company who doesn’t know how to treat it’s customers.

My concern is once we are able to access the welcome back package with the PS + will the map packs that we download for KZ3 expire once the free 30 days are up? If they do, would it be best to just purchase them in order to be able to play them after the Welcome Back Package has expired? Hopefully someone will be able to give us some info on that :) Lookin forward to the PS Store coming back online to purchase those maps :)

ill start by saying thankyou. i hope that the welcome back package we receive is worth our inconvenience. but its not the inconvenience that i am dissapointed of. i realize sony has done everything in their power, and i respect that very much. i just feel it needs to be recognized that sony has made all ps3 users look bad. everyone that has supported ps3 over xbox360 has looked very bad these past few weeks. yes, i am dissapointed in sony for letting this happen, but i will easily move on. the only thing that could dissapoint me more at this point in time would be if sony were to allow this to happen again. i hope that sony truly has their systems under control in order to prevent this from reoccuring. i feel sony has professionally handled this situation and that they have made all of the right decisions so far. keep up the good work sony
Why cant i get on plastation home? it keeps telling me there was a problem downloading content? there was never a problem before and im able to play my games online but i cant get on home. please let me know something asap

Funny thing is my tv broke a week b4 PSN died, so when getting a tv thats psn died funny the irony, but i never lost faith some sainity though. But all in all thanks to the diligent people of sony. AND whoever did this to the network you reap what you sow.
Its good that playtation back on and about the welcome back content i think we should pick one thing from the playstation store like the new black ops maps escalation lol because i seen it and it was cool and sony should make a chat that you can invite friends to and talk with your headset that would be really cool then i would say xbox isn’t on ps3 level lol because they only on our level because of there party chat my opinion and some games that they say is better halo and gears which i think is lame and not worth buying and infamous 1 and 2 are way better then halo and gears my opinion again lol so i hope you’ll be able to put a party chat on ps3 THATNK YOU SONY!!!!!

Know this was a big hit to you and your partners financially so Im not tripping over a welcome back package that much just as soon see everything be safe and secure. Jeff, As far as the Playstation Store goes….. I think you would find people content with an answer such as hours, days, weeks, or even months. We do appreciate the feed back. It is way better than silence.

Thanks for the FAQ Sony. I was wondering if you guys are working on any extra features that we might be getting (i.e Cross Game Chat). Also, I would really want to see a feature that lets users change their names. First time for free and then we pay if we want to change it again. It doesn’t seem that hard to make and Sony can benefit from all the money so I really don’t see why it could be a bad idea.
When will we be able to change our security question and/or answer? How will you prevent someone from not resetting my password again since they may have the security question and answer as well as my address, birthdate, etc?
