Now that PlayStation Network is once again operational, a great many of you are once again enjoying playing games online. Of course, that’s only part of the Network’s offerings – and you’ve got some questions about how the downtime affected planned releases and online events. Here are answers to some of the more pressing queries:
Q: So what exactly is working right now?
A: Sign-in for PlayStation Network and Qriocity (including the resetting of passwords), online gameplay for PS3 and PSP, playback of rental video content on PS3 (if within rental period), Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity on PS3 (for current subscribers), access to services such as Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, and MLB.tv, “Friends” category on PS3 (including Friends List, Chat Functionality, Trophy Comparison, etc), in-game leaderboards, and PlayStation Home.Q: I’m having trouble changing my password/I forgot which email I used on my account/I used a fake email to set up my account.
A: Click here for a set of tips on resetting your password. If you’ve gone through the process and are waiting for an email from us, please note that the very large number of requests has caused certain ISPs to slow the rate at which recipients get emails from us. Please be patient as the systems work through the backlog.Q: The PlayStation Store hasn’t updated since April 19th. When can I download digital games that were planned to be released since then?
A: To date, three Tuesday publishes were missed, which included items like Under Siege and the MotorStorm Apocalypse demo. Rest assured that you won’t miss any of this great content. To catch up on the large amount of material, we’ll be publishing to the PlayStation Store multiple times per week once commerce functionality is restored. We will update the PlayStation.Blog with information on timing of the Store restoration, as well as the full list of new content as each publish occurs.Q: How will PlayStation Plus members be affected by the PSN downtime? A number of games/items were slated to go live or come down on April 26th.
A: We will be picking back up with the PlayStation Plus content calendar where we left off to ensure that you won’t miss out on anything.Q: Sucker Punch has indicated that they will extend the inFAMOUS 2 beta. Any details?

A: Zipper will announce details on activities to re-engage fans of SOCOM 4 who have patiently waited to play online.Q: What about the Call of Duty: Black Ops Double XP weekend that was missed while PSN was down?
A: We have been in discussions with our friends at Treyarch, and they have ensured that all Call of Duty: Black Ops fans will get an extra Double XP event as soon as PSN comes back online. is anyone else having problems connecting with a server or very slow getting into/out of games… i never had this problem tell psn came back online
I hope the Playstation Store comes back on within a week i still got games i bought that i can’t play or play online until the codes are inputed thru the psn store
Personally, I don’t care what kind of stuff you give us as part of this, provided it doesn’t consist solely or partly of stuff I already have and/or DLC for games I don’t own or no longer own. But of course, after suffering through 3 weeks of madness-inducing server restoration while braving the fires of the less patient Playstation consumers (and believe me, there was a lot of that x_x), it would be wrong of me to be picky. All I’ve gotta say is, congrats on braving the 3 Trials: The Search (where you investigated what was compromised), the Hailstorm of Hacks, and the Flames of the Furious Fanboys to bring a service loved by many back to life.
…Boy, that sounded like a movie or video game plot xD
Is anybody else having problems getting on?? I keep getting dns error 80710102 this is driving me crazy because I dont know if its my router or its on playstations end people keep telling me different things can we get to the bottem of it please.

Thank You Sony for all the work you guys did to bring back PSN, BUT for the people who are expecting free games, remember this guys sony NEVER said they were giving us free games, they said the welcome back is One month free subscription to PS plus and quriocity, ok so what ever you guys see is what you get you greedy people, so for people who are looking to get say Assassin’s Creed 2 free tough luck, go buy it, it wont kill you its like $20 now and $15 on psn store if you have psn plus.

I have not only sold my ps3 but I also sold my TV and I am going to sell all my Sony electronics and will be donating the money to Anonymous. You suck Sony! You’ve lost a customer forever.

Online Save Data- Restored? Cloud Saving is very useful.
And PS3 uses the whole ‘activate console’ feature, for 5 accounts. Is there a way to reset this so no accounts have access to my profile’s content unless I manually input it.

Well obviously i don’t have the numbers but i’m willing to bet that alot of players left playstation. This can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on what type of people left. Let’s hope the good ones stuck it out
Is there any possibility that Sony could create PSN Party Chat? Much like that on the Xbox where you can talk to friends at anytime, no matter what game they are playing. I think that would be really beneficial to many of us, plus, it would give people one less reason to choose an Xbox over a Playstation.

Guess I could always buy another 30 day game pass for $30 from Blockbuster to replace the one I couldnt fully use during the outage. But I really dont want the welcome back package if its gonna contain a bunch of crap I already bought. Qore has always given games i already purchased or have no interest in, same with PS+.
I think Sony should announce to major rental stores and game subscription services about the current situation.
Sony could have these subscriptions and services extended in lue of the outage, in my mind that is fair.
I dont want anything for free, Sony owes me no “Welcome Back” I didnt go anywhere.

Thank you Sony for getting psn back up it was a long a frustrating situation for us all and to danny3755 it’s not so much what ppl can get from sony its the fact that thoe prices are high this merchandise are huge investments to pay for so to pay as much as we do should in title us to suggest compensations in some way
@COD no I still haven’t received another code in email or an answer from Sony. I still can’t access the account to change the password or information.
What will happen with the accounts that you havent send the e-mail to reset the password? Would it be disabled? I already enter my family account but no e-mail send from psn.

Ok so I just read an entire letter that essentially said….online gaming is back and we don’t know about anything else yet. Why was that a page long? Really? I just want approximate dates to start coming out. If you miss that time then warn us ahead of time but the updates during this whole ordeal have been horrible.
