Now that PlayStation Network is once again operational, a great many of you are once again enjoying playing games online. Of course, that’s only part of the Network’s offerings – and you’ve got some questions about how the downtime affected planned releases and online events. Here are answers to some of the more pressing queries:
Q: So what exactly is working right now?
A: Sign-in for PlayStation Network and Qriocity (including the resetting of passwords), online gameplay for PS3 and PSP, playback of rental video content on PS3 (if within rental period), Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity on PS3 (for current subscribers), access to services such as Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, and MLB.tv, “Friends” category on PS3 (including Friends List, Chat Functionality, Trophy Comparison, etc), in-game leaderboards, and PlayStation Home.Q: I’m having trouble changing my password/I forgot which email I used on my account/I used a fake email to set up my account.
A: Click here for a set of tips on resetting your password. If you’ve gone through the process and are waiting for an email from us, please note that the very large number of requests has caused certain ISPs to slow the rate at which recipients get emails from us. Please be patient as the systems work through the backlog.Q: The PlayStation Store hasn’t updated since April 19th. When can I download digital games that were planned to be released since then?
A: To date, three Tuesday publishes were missed, which included items like Under Siege and the MotorStorm Apocalypse demo. Rest assured that you won’t miss any of this great content. To catch up on the large amount of material, we’ll be publishing to the PlayStation Store multiple times per week once commerce functionality is restored. We will update the PlayStation.Blog with information on timing of the Store restoration, as well as the full list of new content as each publish occurs.Q: How will PlayStation Plus members be affected by the PSN downtime? A number of games/items were slated to go live or come down on April 26th.

Everyone keeps mentioning that Netflix has been down since the attack, but three families I know and myself have all been able to stream Netflix on our PS3s without interruption. Were some consoles taken totally offline that netflix wasn’t viewable?
Here is my work around for Netflix when PSN goes down
Start Netflix
Tell it to sign in to PSN, wait for error message
Hit to cancel after message
Netflix still loads
(sometimes you have to try to log in to the PSN multiples times but it will still work)
The trophies I earned while the network was down didn’t show up when I synced with the server last night, I thought they were supposed to sync?
P.S. Thanks for getting the server back up and running, my background themes were corrupt the entire time the PSN was down, they work now though. :D
When will I be able to redeem some promotional codes? Like the Pro for Socom 4, and the beta for Resistance that came with it as well.

@628 me too, I tried logging in then it said an email was sent, yada yada. So being impatient, I tried logging in again and it then prompted me to change password on the PS3 system. Glad it worked that way I never got the email until the next day.

A window for the return of the Store would be good. Of course, I know you want to return to making money as well, Sony. Everyone wants it soon, and the old content is in place, as I was able to continue and finish downloads already started from the XMB.
I’m assuming the welcome back package will be released once the entirety of the PSN is operational, am i correct?
Thanks for all the information and the hard work! Sony is the only company I’ve ever seen step up to the plate like this and flat out tell the truth! Microsoft and WoW hide behind loads of lies and deceit, along with most other corporations when something like this happens. Sony actually stepped forward, admitted to it, AND kept us all apprised of the situation. Honestly, playing online is completely unimportant to me. I’ve just been waiting for the store, so I can get the Disgaea 3 add-on pack. I hope that you guys find the jerk wads who did this.

For everyone who says, “Great job sony” or anything of the sort regarding psn services coming back online.
This is not a ‘great job’ moment or a situation worthy of praise despite any fanboy status.
Our identity and credit information was compromised, services rendered unusable for possibly over a month, and people had to jump through hoops to ensure their financial security. I’m sure sony was hard at work, but this problem is partially their fault due to lack of security and upkeep. At this point they are finally doing their jobs, nothing extraordinary to warrant loyal support.
Glad to see things starting to get near normal. Like a lot of folks I can’t wait for the PSN store to be back up and running, not just for the updates that have been missed but 3 weeks is a paycheck or three for people ;)
Good job with the FAQ and thank you for starting the restoration. Can you tell me if the InFamous 2 Beta will be available on the playstation store once it’s up and running? And if it is will it only be for PS Plus subscribers?
At this moment I’m content that things are finally being resolved and I might actually get to use some services I’ve paid for. Past that I will wait to see how sony makes it up to it’s customers. If all we get is psn+, a sub-par music service, and a game of Sudoku… then I’ll be a bit irked. If they throw in a good game or two, maybe something on par with the future release of ICO/Shadow of the Colossus, then I’ll likely continue my patronage with Sony.
I paid for a product with services that were rendered unavailable for an extended period of time based on some negligence by Sony. As a consumer I believe it’s only natural to weigh that with future purchasing decisions. Don’t let concepts like ‘loyalty’ influence you, because business is business at the end of the day.

attn jeff rubenstein the server for the excellent game Demons’s Souls is offline for some reason. can you see if you can find out what happened? thats one of the ps3’s best games in the rpg line!
I didn’t download Hulu BEFORE the outage.. but now have Hulu (courtesy of my 360, ahem). Do I need to wait for PS Store to be restored before I can use Hulu on my PS3?

This is nice and all, but to be completely honest you named the post Questions Answered and you just answered most of them with “We will update you as soon as possible”. That is hardly an answer. Oh BY THE WAY. I can’t activate my online Kombat Pass for Mortal Kombat so I have like 6 hours left to play online for the free trial then another one of my games is completely useless to me.

Guys you cant expect PS to give you a free copy of a full $60 game! Sure that would be a total loss to PlayStation because I’m sure the game’s owners will be pissed if their game was given out free and they just lost out on loads of sales. If I was the games developer, I would be looking reimbursment!
Yes alot of the $10 games are disappointing but hopefully PS have somthing nice in my stocking soon. Plus, they dont have to give out anything at all so you should be greatful!
