Now that PlayStation Network is once again operational, a great many of you are once again enjoying playing games online. Of course, that’s only part of the Network’s offerings – and you’ve got some questions about how the downtime affected planned releases and online events. Here are answers to some of the more pressing queries:
Q: So what exactly is working right now?
A: Sign-in for PlayStation Network and Qriocity (including the resetting of passwords), online gameplay for PS3 and PSP, playback of rental video content on PS3 (if within rental period), Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity on PS3 (for current subscribers), access to services such as Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, and MLB.tv, “Friends” category on PS3 (including Friends List, Chat Functionality, Trophy Comparison, etc), in-game leaderboards, and PlayStation Home.Q: I’m having trouble changing my password/I forgot which email I used on my account/I used a fake email to set up my account.
A: Click here for a set of tips on resetting your password. If you’ve gone through the process and are waiting for an email from us, please note that the very large number of requests has caused certain ISPs to slow the rate at which recipients get emails from us. Please be patient as the systems work through the backlog.Q: The PlayStation Store hasn’t updated since April 19th. When can I download digital games that were planned to be released since then?
A: To date, three Tuesday publishes were missed, which included items like Under Siege and the MotorStorm Apocalypse demo. Rest assured that you won’t miss any of this great content. To catch up on the large amount of material, we’ll be publishing to the PlayStation Store multiple times per week once commerce functionality is restored. We will update the PlayStation.Blog with information on timing of the Store restoration, as well as the full list of new content as each publish occurs.Q: How will PlayStation Plus members be affected by the PSN downtime? A number of games/items were slated to go live or come down on April 26th.
A: We will be picking back up with the PlayStation Plus content calendar where we left off to ensure that you won’t miss out on anything.Q: Sucker Punch has indicated that they will extend the inFAMOUS 2 beta. Any details?

The blog post created by Senior Director of Communications and Media, Patrick Seybold, on 05/05/2011 stated that “we will be sending out activation emails for this program over the next few days.” What is Mr. Seybold’s definition for a “few days?” Eleven days have now passed since the blog was posted and I have yet to receive my activation email.
I have received my credit reports from the three credit reporting agencies. I have initiated a fraud alert on my credit reports through these credit reporting agencies. I have disputed the fraudulent charge made to my compromised credit card and cancelled my compromised credit card. So, I have done everything SCEA has advised all psn users to do. Now it is time for SCEA to do what it said it was going to do in order to protect it’s customers.
I could care less about the “Welcome Back offer,” all I want is some peace of mind.
LOL!! dig deep into their pockets to fix the PSN? Sure it cost a little im sure.. but you have any idea how much money Sony has just sitting around?
Sony has more money than half the PSN subscribers could make in a dozen lifetimes.

I, like many others, have waited patiently for PSN to come online again. I just wanted to say how proud I am to be a customer. These hard times really seperate the loyal customers from the fence sitters. Im glad that I’ll once again be gaming with my loyal bretheren. Let the games begin! :)
The way I look at PSN right now, its gunna have a few bug in it, till they get it “fully” running, they did have to rebuild it from the ground up so they is gunna be problems
Please, please at least enable the redeem code for Mortal Kombat so we can play it online!!
I am not to pleased at the PSN. this Debix AllClear ID Plus protection should be made available for Canadians plus we weren’t made aware of who to call about credit info. I am glad we are thought of by the US. Playstation please think of Canada if this happens again. PS Thank you for getting the server back up cheers

Good job Sony. Great to have you back. I feel pretty secure with the new precautions. From the moment of an illegal intrusion, how long does it take you to react, like in this scenario, and shut down the network or take a different precaution to immediately eradicate the threat?
@gene2004, it’s a no brainer. Call your credit card company. they stated that once they know who other countries are going to be dealing with for identity theft, they would let us all know…

I got Socom 4 when the psn was down and I wanted to know when I’ll be able to use my code for the abandoned map? Right now when I try to access the code section it’s said “down for maintenance” I guess it will be back once the store will be up and running ?!! Any time frame ?!

@538 in terms as of PSN is enterprise network of services trust me it cost more then you think it could cost in hundreds of millions if not around a billion to fix and secure it all+ consider range of a network and how wide it is as CCIE Specialist in Network Security and intrusion prevention I can assure you it was done as fast as they can even if it’s 3 weeks it’s still fast my friend
thanks for the update and i think i can wait till its normal. you guys being shut down help me beat alot of games. you guys are doing great work and cant wait till i can redeem my code for mortal kombat and take as long as you want but i do want to see the store so i can get the new zombie maps and i want to say something about zombies, i think we should levels in zombies but not to a high level just to unlock like new perks and i think we should get a lot of zombies maps by at least when COD modern warfare 3 comes out. and thanks again for all of the work you guys did

i am not at all very happy i still cannot gain access to my psn account wich mean the 80 dollors that i have spent on DCUOL was a waste of money and every time i try to call for asstance i am put on hold and when i finally get through all i get on the phone is a busy signal my main account is Beau49442 would apperiate a resopnce ,and i do not want to see the words soon paitance because my paitance is about at an end

Glad that I that PSN is finally back up…well most of it anyways. Really need the store to come back up so I can redeem my Kombat Pass for Mortal Kombat.
It is good to be able to play online again though. Hope this never happens again and I really hope the hackers just go away.

Glad to be back on the blog, but I have some questions.
What about my Blockbuster game pass bought the tuesday right before the PSN shut down???
I could still play SP during the outage, but bought the pass to try out diff games online modes.
Such as SOCOM 4 COOP mode, got a few rounds in and bamm PSN went down.
Now my pass ends in like 2 days, it cost me $30 and all I got was some campaign play on SOCOM and MSA.
I’m gonna go and get SOCOM 4 again, but two days online play when I bought a 30 day pass is really unfair.
Can Sony announce to rental stores the current scenerio and get some extension to these types of services in lue of the down time??????
Oh yeah, and it may be coincidence but I’m getting hit really hard with trojans and malware like crazy at home now, cant even get online anymore from my home computer, anyone else getting rammed hard?
