Now that PlayStation Network is once again operational, a great many of you are once again enjoying playing games online. Of course, that’s only part of the Network’s offerings – and you’ve got some questions about how the downtime affected planned releases and online events. Here are answers to some of the more pressing queries:
Q: So what exactly is working right now?
A: Sign-in for PlayStation Network and Qriocity (including the resetting of passwords), online gameplay for PS3 and PSP, playback of rental video content on PS3 (if within rental period), Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity on PS3 (for current subscribers), access to services such as Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, and MLB.tv, “Friends” category on PS3 (including Friends List, Chat Functionality, Trophy Comparison, etc), in-game leaderboards, and PlayStation Home.Q: I’m having trouble changing my password/I forgot which email I used on my account/I used a fake email to set up my account.
A: Click here for a set of tips on resetting your password. If you’ve gone through the process and are waiting for an email from us, please note that the very large number of requests has caused certain ISPs to slow the rate at which recipients get emails from us. Please be patient as the systems work through the backlog.Q: The PlayStation Store hasn’t updated since April 19th. When can I download digital games that were planned to be released since then?
A: To date, three Tuesday publishes were missed, which included items like Under Siege and the MotorStorm Apocalypse demo. Rest assured that you won’t miss any of this great content. To catch up on the large amount of material, we’ll be publishing to the PlayStation Store multiple times per week once commerce functionality is restored. We will update the PlayStation.Blog with information on timing of the Store restoration, as well as the full list of new content as each publish occurs.Q: How will PlayStation Plus members be affected by the PSN downtime? A number of games/items were slated to go live or come down on April 26th.
A: We will be picking back up with the PlayStation Plus content calendar where we left off to ensure that you won’t miss out on anything.Q: Sucker Punch has indicated that they will extend the inFAMOUS 2 beta. Any details?

A: We have been in discussions with our friends at Treyarch, and they have ensured that all Call of Duty: Black Ops fans will get an extra Double XP event as soon as PSN comes back online. When everything is fullly 100% restored will there be any extra features on the psn or will it stay the same ? (To me it doesn’t matter because psn is free but im just curious)

Is there a way to download the MLB.tv app on my PS3 right now? It’s supposedly one of the restored services now but if I didn’t already have the app downloaded am I basically out of luck until the store comes back?
So happy to be playing online again! Although that 3 weeks off I did catch up on alot of reading. So how about that quadruple XP weekend!?

@456 Im not an expert but I believe that anything you buy that is discounted or exlusive to PS+ is only available to you to use while your subscription is active.
As for the current PS+ subscribers read the original welcome back FAQ message about compensation. EVERYONE (weather PS+ member or not) gets a month free for PS=. However if you are a current subscriber you will also get a day for day credit for every day the PSN was down. Basically the timer stopped when PSN went down and starts again Im assuming once the store comes back up as PS+ without the store is pretty pointless.
That goes for the music service too I believe.
I just have one question. I bought a PSPgo during the outage so I wasn’t able to get any games or make a PSN account with that being said do I still get the Welcome back package?
I know I speak for all black ops players when I ask when is the escalation map pack coming to ps3 and will we be receiving any sort of discount? Or an early release?
When the store is back up. Will we see new activity up for grabs? Or will we see the same items from April 19th? Cause I have Mortal Kombat, and Dynasty Warriors 7. There was suppose to be Downloadable Content for both games and some others that everyone is waiting for. Will we see some of that when the store is back up?

I got my own PS3 less than a month before the outage, mainly for MW2. As you can imagine, I was quite frustrated, not at Sony, but at the fact that someone(s) had the balls to eff up our beloved network!!
I couldn’t believe some of the stuff people said. Although I wasn’t able to get on the blog, I backed you guys up, Sony! I’ve been a long time fan, from my first Ericsson to my Xperia X10, 3 PS3’s and the Bravia I wish I had!! (stupid broken LG, haha.)
Anywho, I’m glad the network is back up and running. I missed MW2 like crazy!! I miss playing on my own account more!! It’s been over 24 hours and I haven’t received an email yet. (this isn’t my account) I know it says to be patient, and I’m trying.
… I hope to get one soon. :-)

This has been quite helpful and a big round of thanks to all involved. One thing – as a premium subscriber on Qriocity I found that browser-based access is still not functioning properly – I get the 30-second taste for the songs. Is that a to-be-fixed item on the check list?
I hope the PS Store is up soon i want to play Fallout new vegas Add on Honest Hearts.

so far i have been kicked out of game (black ops) 5 times with same error, this account is logging in on another console, never logged into any other console or shared my password, I also seem to have dropped 5 levels in blackops fro prestige 13 to 8, not good boys, i think my system got hacked.
Sony should give us all ponies. Not in-game ponies either – but real, live, live on your patio ponies that kids can ride and neighbors can simply admire, but never own.

I can’t even begin to imagine the cost of restoring psn, since its a free service, only revenue they get is from the store and ps3 sales they probably had to dig deep in their pockets to fix it. But hey they pulled it off:)
IMO, it seems funny when the PSN was down, I seen many comments that dis’d Sony. Now that the PSN is back up and running (at least multiplayer and movie wise) there are many comments on how good a job Sony is doing.

Hi im new to the PlayStation Blog but not to the PSN network i been playing for awhile now, but to get to the point i do got some questions to ask. How do you get the Free PlayStation Plus package? If so do we have to wait till the PlayStation Store is back up and running as well to get it?
Thinking about the Selected List of the Welcome Back package, I would imagine Sony can’t just give away other developers games for free, I’m guessing it’d be a Sony exclusive game, which are usually great, but also it would have to be a DLC game, not many PS3 titles are Downloadable.
I can be wrong of course, I have no idea how business is handled, just my thoughts. However, I am pleased regardless of the Welcome Back details, I don’t need 2 free games to go back to the PS3, there’s plenty other reasons to keep playing, of course I wouldn’t frown upon free content. Also, I’m a PS Plus User and I’m loving it, to hear we get a free month is a Plus for me.

When Is Sony Canada going to make a statement regarding the region specific stuff for Canadians. I’m sure the free PSN content will be the same as the US but I’m talking about the one year of free credit monitoring service.
That’s going to be Canada Specific. SCEC hasn’t even issued one press release since PSN went down.
It seems I’m always complaining about how bad the support Sony provides to Canada is. I’ve got a few responses, a couple of admissions of poor performance and a couple “thank you for your feedback, we are always looking for ways to improve blah blah blah”. Yet NOTHING ever comes of it.
What do Canadian Playstation owners have to do to get you guys to start properly supporting the region?
