Now that PlayStation Network is once again operational, a great many of you are once again enjoying playing games online. Of course, that’s only part of the Network’s offerings – and you’ve got some questions about how the downtime affected planned releases and online events. Here are answers to some of the more pressing queries:
Q: So what exactly is working right now?
A: Sign-in for PlayStation Network and Qriocity (including the resetting of passwords), online gameplay for PS3 and PSP, playback of rental video content on PS3 (if within rental period), Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity on PS3 (for current subscribers), access to services such as Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, and MLB.tv, “Friends” category on PS3 (including Friends List, Chat Functionality, Trophy Comparison, etc), in-game leaderboards, and PlayStation Home.Q: I’m having trouble changing my password/I forgot which email I used on my account/I used a fake email to set up my account.
A: Click here for a set of tips on resetting your password. If you’ve gone through the process and are waiting for an email from us, please note that the very large number of requests has caused certain ISPs to slow the rate at which recipients get emails from us. Please be patient as the systems work through the backlog.Q: The PlayStation Store hasn’t updated since April 19th. When can I download digital games that were planned to be released since then?
A: To date, three Tuesday publishes were missed, which included items like Under Siege and the MotorStorm Apocalypse demo. Rest assured that you won’t miss any of this great content. To catch up on the large amount of material, we’ll be publishing to the PlayStation Store multiple times per week once commerce functionality is restored. We will update the PlayStation.Blog with information on timing of the Store restoration, as well as the full list of new content as each publish occurs.Q: How will PlayStation Plus members be affected by the PSN downtime? A number of games/items were slated to go live or come down on April 26th.

Has anyone been able to earn a trophy with the new update? As soon as I did my whole PS3 crashed and now I get the blinking fatal error lights whenever I turn it on.

i have two questions one i cannot access the playstation store at all and ti seems others can and two i had purchased and activated a psp go and it was a bundle with three free games on the store but bcuz the store was down when i activated it i didnt get the games will i still recieve these games for free?

431 that was happening to me last night you just got to keep trying and it will finally connect to a match. theres prob traffic. if you check on call of duty website and check its server status its not at a great level

Thank You Sony, Welcome Back! What you did boarders on miraculous and deserves a standing “O” You have a lifelong customer in myself. I have to admit that I was Jonesing so bad for COD that I played on the kid’s box. Trying to use that bulky controller is like driving a bus when you are used to a Maserati. The picture sucked on my HD TV and had constant lags and disconnects. I could only stand to play for about 15 min. Yesterday morning I was able to play COD on my PS3 and it was like a lost puppy that came home. Again Thank You and have a drink on me.

good to see your back but got a issue was playing last night after changing my password and everything and i got bumped off because it said another user with my id had logged in…..wtf?!?! here is the rreally messed up thing my 2 ps3 at my house only working ones to have my info. whats the deal??????
The day we got hacked I was at the Aura place and got level 50 as soon as it said ” you recieved an item ” and I froze. I tried getting in to home and could but as soon as I went to an apartment I would freeze again. Sony then went down, was this bug I have part of the hacking. Im still trying to get on and I am Still freezing. Sony someone please help!!! I have posted this on the forum, blog but have not recieved any answer. Thank you.
@426 I have owned both a 360 and PS3 since their respective launch dates. One thing I have always said is that the consoles are pretty close, but I have always said I liked the online on XBL much better.
So I used PS3 for offline stuff since it did 1080P (at the time the xbox only did 720) and the multiplayer stuff was so much simpler on XBL
But its no matter. Certain movies are available on one that the others dont have so the two play off each other well IMO. Only thing the PS3 does that 360 does not atm is 3D.. but since I have not the luxury of a 3dtv, it matters not.

EA has it setup that in order to Use Online play In Mortal Kombat you need you Redeem your Pass. however, when i try i get the “sony is undergoing maintenance” box and cannot do that. Any word on when that feature will be available?

I clicked link, typed all the numbers and letters than it tells me “There is a problem resetting your password. Please click the link again or copy and paste the link into an Internet browser.” WHY???? plz help me….
@447 I hear ya on that man. I was trying to play online with the RROD and for some reason, i could not enjoy it. Like you said, the controller feels like a brick and there was no game that caught my attention. The only thing i enjoyed was the party chat feature cause i was able to talk smack to them while they were playing.
So I tried to play Rockband online and it keeps saying that it is attempting to connect to rock central servers! And I have also noticed that my connection to Uncharted 2 multiplayer is spotty at best. I was able to play a few matches but when I logged out and tried to log back in later, I was not able to log on. Jeff, can you give an update on Rockband servers as well as Uncharted 2 please if possible, thank you :).
Oh and btw, thanks for all of your hard work. I bet this has been a trying time for everyone working to restore the network, and I am one consumer who appreciates all the work that has been put in thus far. Keep up the good work :).
Ok this is getting on my nerver , this is my second account , i can’t log in my first account which by the way is a brazilian account because i get the message that there isn’t a store on my country , and after 2 hours waiting for an e-mail i think this one is not coming , i could reset this account password just because i have downloaded content in here, i wanted to know when the psn is back up for my brazilian account i have all my friends added there and wanted to experience the cross-chat feature , i have a xbox 360 too and i’m not that worried about not being able to play online but i love ps3 and psn and would be very dissapointed if i have to play only on xbox because i can’t chat with my friends on ps3 , thanks for the updates sony i see you guys are very concerned about the clients , but this problem is really pissing me off

i’d like to thank the whole team there at sony, i’m sure this ordeal has affected everyone in the company in some way, but more specifically thanks goes out to the people who worked so diligently to solve the problems at hand as promptly as possible which couldn’t have been an easy task.
also good luck to the people who are working hard to find the persons responsible for attempting to terrorize millions of people, by hacking into the network and compromising everyone’s safety.

So, when will trophies be updated? Beat a few games while the PSN was down. Updated the PS3 with the newest update today and I still have the same amount of trophies as before.
Well i waited patiently, stayed a loyal sony customer and survived through the psn outage and its all paid off. Looking forward to the welcome back program. Thanks, :)

Never though about how big this company and system was untill it wasn’t anymore.
Due to the amount of diruption this has caused everyone, I think we all now have a better idea of just how world wide big Sony and playstation are! wow I’m really impressed.
