Now that some PlayStation Network and Qriocity services have been restored and you’re once again enjoying online gaming and entertainment, we’re happy to provide details about the “Welcome Back” appreciation program for customers in North America. We developed the program as an expression of our gratitude for your patience, support and continued loyalty during the service outage. From all of us at PlayStation, thank you and welcome back!
This package will be made available to all existing registered PlayStation Network and Qriocity users in North America (US and Canada), and will be made available shortly after we have fully restored the service. More specific details about these offers and eligibility requirements will be posted as the services go live.
All PlayStation Network customers can select two PS3 games from the following list. The games will be available for 30 days shortly after PlayStation Store is restored and can be kept forever.

For PSP owners, you will be eligible to download two PSP games from the following list. The games will be available for 30 days shortly after PlayStation Store is restored and can be kept forever.

- ModNation Racers
- Pursuit Force
- Killzone Liberation
- A selection of “On Us” rental movie titles will be available to PlayStation Network customers over one weekend, where Video Service is available. Those titles will be announced soon.
- 30 days free PlayStation Plus membership for non PlayStation Plus subscribers.
- Existing PlayStation Plus subscribers will receive an additional 60 days of free subscription.
- Existing Music Unlimited Premium Trial subscription members will receive an additional 30 days of free premium subscription.
- Additional 30 days + time lost for existing members of Music Unlimited Premium/Basic subscription free of charge for existing Premium/Basic members.
- To welcome users Home, PlayStation Home will be offering 100 free virtual items. Additional free content will be released soon, including the next addition to the Home Mansion personal space, and Ooblag’s Alien Casino, an exclusive game.

Those of you saying “Sony got hacked and some information got stolen, big deal”: If you get your identities stolen because of the poorly-protected info that got leaked, then you will see that it IS a big deal. Furthermore, yes, it can happen at any company, but most companies wouldn’t take a week to tell you about the intrusion, nor would they wait so long before announcing “Oh, by the way, your personal info is now probably in the wild.” The bottom line is, Sony did a REALLY bad job handling this. Offering up this out-of-date stuff and this “get you hooked on a subscription” deal (look up cognitive dissonance and effort justification) is just adding insult to injury.

Yeah I know…I was referring to the PS+ games. If you’ve never had PS+…they often put games on there for free that you can play as long as you maintain the subscription…well, some people were complaining about that. Though I’m not sure why they would be.
Getting the DLC for Black OPS would be great and I hear the new maps are AWEOME. But Sony would lose money on that deal so that won’t happen.

I’m surprised Sony didn’t offer MAG. It would have had the added benefit for Sony of encouraging people to get back on PSN again since it’s online only.
This is great and all, but can we clarify “existing” users? I’m pretty sure I know who they are talking about, and that’s anyone who subscribed to the service prior to the outage. However, what about those of us that purchased during the outage (I know, dumb move on my part) and managed to stick with the PS3 or PSP despite it being half a brick?
Sony, in my opinion, should cover anyone who had service prior to the outage, and anyone who was unable to subscribe to services during the outage. Ask me us for proof of purchase, that’s fine. But the truth is I went a couple weeks (I know, not as painful as many of you) after purchasing the PS3 not able to do very much with it. I would hope those of us within the service outage period and can prove the purchase time period would be allowed some type of benefit as well. If anything maybe even just a PSN+ subscription for a few months. Something…Honestly you all I feel just as bad as the ones who went without from Day 1.

wow 2 free games..i wonder if that is limited per account or per ps3??? either way WOW I didn’t expect that much for having to wait a month, I personally and i’m sure most gamers were just excited and happy to have it back up and running. The games offered for PS3 all are great, but this offer is BS for a lot of people.
I own all these games. I would have been thrilled with a small amount of credit to be used on any purchase or a serious list of games to chose from (1 in 20 would have been better, than take 2 of 5 that 90 percent of you already own). All these games, with the exception of Dead Nation, are more than 3 years old. Hell, LBP has had a sequel released! Why not put the sequel in the list too?
This offer is very weak. And I am a fan of inFamous and plan to pick up the sequel, but offering that just before a sequel launch is no doubt to boost sales of the sequel.
This is just another SONY FAIL. To go along with the rest of past month.

For some reason i cant play Call of the dead on cod Black ops even though i have the First Strike map pack and i was able to play before the psn went out but after it came back on i cant. Can somebody tell why.

I’m glad that the PSN (PlayStation Network) is back working again. And I’m sure we’ll all be very satisfied with our “Welcome Back” gift, but the question that pop in our mind is: “When exactly will the PlayStation Store be re-open for business?” I’m sure we would all like to hear that answer.

What makes you think anyone here deserves any free games to begin with? ID theft is available in multiple regions for free. (There goes your credit card argument) They are giving 60 days to PS+ members and pay for play members are being compensated. Everyone else is deserving of nothing. You didn’t lose any games, so how are you entitled to any in the first place?
