We’re currently experiencing an extremely heavy load of password resets, and so we recently had to turn off services for approximately 30 minutes to clear the queue.
As such, a large number of people are attempting to change their passwords at the same time, it’s taking longer than expected for all those emails to clear all of the ISPs.
If you’ve requested your password reset, please give it a bit of time to reach your email. Thanks for your patience as we work to get everyone back online.

2177…no it just says that you have to change it by them sending an email….because it was a new account anyways and I had not purchased anything from the PS store on that account soo..they have to do the email…and I still after nearly 30 hours have not recived mine
I was able to reset my password yesterday morning after the firmware update (done via USB stick)… But the most recent email I’ve gotten from Playstation was the late March “Terms of Use & Service”.
Never got anything official about the hack or downtime and I should have gotten an email by now confirming my password reset???
everyone asked for cross game chat yet no response was ever given i would too like to see that implemented but one thing I believe the customers of PS3 should have by now is Backwards Compatibility because we know the slim can play the games you just refuse to let us

Id like to say thank you to Sony for getting this all going again and being tough throughout the whole process, the ps3 is an amazing system and i think sony has done a great job with dealing with the whole situation, now for those cutting down Sony , why would you, its not Sony’s fault that a bunch of hackers caused the network to go down.
all of this work they did and still the jailbreakers can still modify games. I think is psn is getting owned.

ive been tryin to sign in everyday and all i got was “…undergoing maintenance” and of course the day i dont try it(yesterday), i end up completing the black ops campain on veteran because i got so bored and didnt even realize that i could sign in until this morning

Great question. The behavior is as follows:
-Password reset emails are good for 24 hours.
-We do not control the length of time the email delivery will take, this is dependent on the ISP. For some it may be instant or take a few hours, for others it could be more than a day. (we see some emails with an age of 20+ hours already).
-If the consumer gets an email from us after 24 hours from the time they did the initial reset, the link will be invalid. They will then need to go through the password reset flow once again to get a new link. Hopefully the issues will be resolved by then.

You know considering that the psn was hacked into the way it was one wonders if something like this will happen in the future. IF any of you psn workers ever glance at my opinion i’d like to know how you guys will be prepared to deal with this situation in the future as i was pretty much bored not being able to play any of the online games?
i could only reset one of the accounts on my ps3 the others had to be emails and i have only gotten 1 email and it was the last one to be sent in for a password change by like 2 hours i dont get this the last account vreated on my PS3 was the only one i could change without the stupid email confrimation anyone else goin through the same?

I wasn’t able to leave a comment when the network was down, but thanks Sony for doing your best through this tough time. I know a lot of people who went out and bought Xbox’s. I grew up with Sony, so I’m not spending another 300 bucks on a system & games. Hey I acutally went outside and saw the sun haha! It was nice, but I’m glad youre back!
