We’re currently experiencing an extremely heavy load of password resets, and so we recently had to turn off services for approximately 30 minutes to clear the queue.
As such, a large number of people are attempting to change their passwords at the same time, it’s taking longer than expected for all those emails to clear all of the ISPs.
If you’ve requested your password reset, please give it a bit of time to reach your email. Thanks for your patience as we work to get everyone back online.
guys if your old password was the same as your email you used to sign up for psn make sure you change that to just a lil help to keep you protected

Now I can finally comment: I wish to volunteer my services to PSN. If you have any address for any of the morons that caused this mess, and provided you pay for my travel expenses and possible legal fees, I will gladly attend at any of their homes to dish out a can of whoopass on their sorry, pathetic little lives…. unless they’re part of the Russian Mob. Those guys scare me. But anybody else, no problem.

I attempted to Sign on Yesterday morning…about 27hours ago now..it said it would send me an email to change my password…still no email…now when I try to sign on it says I need to change password then a server error…am I to assume because of the back log it will take more then 24 hours?…I was able to create a new account in seconds….waiting nearly a month was fine really the major bummer is knowing others are online playing and I cant even change my password….
i hope play station network will be operational world wide when i try to log on same message “under maintenance” appear in the screen although i manage to updated my ps3 o 3.61 version last may 15th Philippines
Now that I was finally able to create an account, and a day later able to log in, what I want to know is, Will those of us new customers who have been waiting a month to create an account be getting any of the welcome back perks? I know i don’t need the credit monitoring stuff but feel since the service went down the exact day I bought my PS3 I am deserving of something, So far I haven’t been impressed.
I hope being able to redeem coeds comes soon, but ill wait patiently like i have been :)

I was getting the down for maintenance message when I tried to log on from my console as of last night. I thought well maybe I’ll try getting on from the website this morning, and low and behold I was able to, after a required password change via email. I thought that we were going to be required to change the password from the console that the account was created on, which would seem slightly more secure then sending out a email link to password change. I mean, the link in email is sent in clear text, in theory someone could do something like a man in the middle to hijack the change email etc…
But anyway, typically I’m not the paranoid type, particularly since I really only use the account for online gaming .
I’m still curious about the password recovery security questions, and how or if we will be able to update those. I don’t see anyway to do that on the web site.
So, while I’m glad the PSN is coming back up, it seems there is still a bit of confusion on my part and I assume others have confusion about it all as well. Yet, I suspect many are like me, and don’t really consider there PSN account(s) to be critical to their daily lives.
