Update on Service Restoration Rollout

We’re currently experiencing an extremely heavy load of password resets, and so we recently had to turn off services for approximately 30 minutes to clear the queue.

As such, a large number of people are attempting to change their passwords at the same time, it’s taking longer than expected for all those emails to clear all of the ISPs.

If you’ve requested your password reset, please give it a bit of time to reach your email. Thanks for your patience as we work to get everyone back online.

  • @1978 I don’t recalled Sony saying anything about the 31st, that was some other websites. They only said by the end of the month. (expect it to be longer or sooner cause they didn’t give an excat date)

  • SONY! YOU ARE LOSING MY PATIENCE AND TRUST!! IF YOU CAN’T GET THE ASIAN PSN ONLINE SOON, YOUR SORRY BUTT GOES SAYONARA!!!!!

  • @GadgetLover

It’s hard for them because of the earthquake and stuff. They’re still trying to rebuild in Japan.

  • Ok soo I updated my PS3 then when trying to sign in it says I need to change my password, since that account was new I had not bought anything on the account yet and so I needed a confirmation email to be sent to me to change my password….so clicked OK to recieve that email…THAT WAS 26 HOURS AGO NOW…do I keep waiting? is it that backed up? I was able to make this new account in 20 seconds…but that does not help me as I am a long time PS3 user and wanna enjoy things like PS+ and would rather not lose my COD ranking…..anyone else still waiting? advice?

  • finally, good job sony,

  • When Is That Playstation store comeback

  • @fmsfiend

As they said, you have to wait for email, there’s 77 million people

  • LOL.

  • So new servers + new data center * 4 week downtime = worse service than before that can’t handle password resets. Bravo Sony you’ve done it again.

  • the psn store is supposed to come back on the 31st

  • it’s okay take your time

  • everyone needs to stop downing the network they brought it online for us and now u have a problem because they are having extreme traffic? give them a break wow.

See I think it was funny how before people were
commenting on these updates on the blog, but
NO ONE was able to sign in, so who was
commenting on the blog? it was anyone that
could sign in, so was sony posting faking
    comments on its own updates
    ________
Jesus, conspiracy nut! After a while on some computers a user’s cookie would expire. Some users’ cookies hadn’t expired. Notice that there were 200+ comments on the blog before the May 10th blog where Patrick Seybold said “the next few days.” That May 10th blog had all of FIVE comments. Clearly fake comments that Sony could post, right? God-dang. I get that Sony has areas they need to correct but who the heck doesn’t? Some of you are just…

  • it keeps saying error now i sent my email about 12 hours ago still nothing pless hurry up my k/d ratio is 2.01 on black ops and i have not got time to waste on this account its my snipering account

  • What about our PS+ Codes?

  • to those that are just happy to be back. welcome back. to those that are still complaining. welcome back i know that through your whole life everything has always gone so smooth you have never had any problems. glad to have you back psn.

  • Justwanted to say that regaurdless on how long PSN took to come back online, It will be ell worth the wait. I was sure suprised to see the sign on screen show when I turned on my PS3. Now bring n the goodies…great job Sony

  • I agree with tamsamlbm. We should be happy with what we have. Its better than nothing right?

  • Was able to log in this morning comrades, but not this evening. Help me out, my socialist brothers

  • its back up in my area

    north Florida

  • I’m surprised that New York isn’t up lol. Thats like a major state. (Happily playing PSN in PA.)

  • @2017
last night, they deactivated PSN for less than an hour to cancel the que line in the system because about 7 million attempted to sign in almost at the same time. This overwhelmed the system’s processors.

  • How were people posting when the network was down? Even in EU blog people were posting. Thought they were twitter posts. Cookies only last 21-30 days unless you delete them. Cookies or not there is no way when the door to the network is not open. That would be like unplugging your PC and still going on the Internet.

  • Whatever, just glad your back PSN. I have had a few disconnects but over all it been working good.

  • @juice26us

if you were signed in when it went down you stayed signed in

  • So if you changed your password already, it works fine for you rite?

  • thx guys. you were the best i never gave up on u guys and i like to thank you guys allot you guys deserve much more the ppl bashing you they are just Hippocrates so don’t worry about those ppl thx allot.

  • ItCantBeTooEpic

    We’re back. yay!

  • Dang yall im glad PSN is back up PAssive menis i feel ur pain bro and keep it up sony but dang….PS store PLEASE!!!

  • [DELETED] sony, i’m getting an XBOX so i don’t have to worry about all my personal information being compromised.

  • waiting is such a freekin pain get the store up i need online gaming

  • why cant i get into a game? you guys fixed the servers why didnt you guys fix that!!

  • @2001…your kidding right…..how many servers have you rebuilt in your life? dont try and tell us your an expert and have done it many times because clearly you know jacques schidt …show me a server and complete network system that can handle 70+ million ppl logging into it , at or around the same time? some of you ppl got nothing better to do with your lives but complain….you get one thing and complain and expect something else….congrats sony on the psychological addiction victory….you’ve someone managed to make 1 percent of the planet completely addicted to just one of your products….go 1 hr without it and people turn into complete idiots,,,go a few wks without it and its as if the whole planet suddenly stopped spinning,,,its not that it couldnt handle resetting passwords, its the fact that so many ppl accessing it right away caused a crash likely…get a life folks its a game ……im sure the difference between psn being on line and off line is not going to impact your grocery bill…..if anything, this should have a spin off effect on doctors offices and pharmacies…by the sounds of some of you, ya need to see a dr and get a prescription for anti psychotic pills lol

  • hell yeah bout time you let me get back to gamin and stop giving us bs updates

  • Blanc_WhiteHeart

I see I’m not the only person who wants the PlayStation Store up & running, but is suspect my reason is slightly different, this is why I want the PlayStation Store up again (I hope nobody else is having my problem…), I paid for stuff on the 1st day of the outage but it went down before I could download everything I paid for, considering the facts that I spent about AU$40 & one of the things I paid for was a game, I should really wait & see when the store is up again to see if I have to spend more money just to get all of this stuff I paid for nearly a month ago.

On a lighter note, Thank you, Sony & all who worked around the clock (I hope you got paid some serious overtime pay for this) to rectify this problem that was the result of some group of imbeciles (I would’ve used far more colourful language if this site permitted it)

  • are we still getting the free ps plus for 30 days?
