We’re currently experiencing an extremely heavy load of password resets, and so we recently had to turn off services for approximately 30 minutes to clear the queue.
As such, a large number of people are attempting to change their passwords at the same time, it’s taking longer than expected for all those emails to clear all of the ISPs.
If you’ve requested your password reset, please give it a bit of time to reach your email. Thanks for your patience as we work to get everyone back online.

See I think it was funny how before people were commenting on these updates on the blog, but NO ONE was able to sign in, so who was commenting on the blog? it was anyone that could sign in, so was sony posting faking comments on its own updates??

When will the playstation store be back up because I can only play mortal combat for 1 day cuz I have to enter my online pass at the playstation store to play unlimited
The company also expedited an already planned move of the system to a new data center in a different location that has been under construction and development for several months. In addition, PS3 will have a forced system software update that will require all registered PlayStation Network users to change their account passwords before being able to sign into the service. As an added layer of security, that password can only be changed on the same PS3 in which that account was activated, or through validated email confirmation, a critical step to help further protect customer data.
How?a lot of people don’t have the same ps3 any more ylod and have changed emails like me and does Sony know most ps3 players have more than one account(to have more than one online name)with emails they made up and didn’t use their real info when they signed up how will they get there accounts back.will Sony just keep the money(most are just kids and didn’t read the rules) in those accounts if you can get an answer from Sony let us know thx. Let us just change are passwords on the ps3 we have now and all will be good.Sony mr seybold help

I have resisted the urge to commement until now. I saw this outage as a chance to take a break from online gaming. Reading the panicked messages written by people who seemed to be in the midst of full fledged spazz attacks made me feel sick myself. I am looking forward to playig online again but honestly don’t care when it happens.
Whew, I thought the system crashed (which it did) for another 25 days, now that would’ve been more crazier.
i got psn points on easter,while psn was down so ive been dieing to use them.thats whay i chek the blog to see if psn store was up.and also if you get to free games in the welcome back pakege.if so i whant to get black ops

For those of you preaching about the “encrypted” or “hashed” files, I suggest you get to googling. There are no encryptions or hashes that can’t be undone. If information was stolen in bulk, chances are the hackers involved are sitting on a healthy wad of data, possibly working in a group to crack into it. You forget, they busted right on into PSN and SOE like someone handed them the keys.
all i know is i couldnt get on ea server to play tiger woods last night.. but we should all understand there will be some quirks or possible legal issues .. with these companies losing so much money they might have to come to a settlement w/ sony.. i need them to bring the store back online so i can redownload some of my games

I´m sorry guys, but Idon´t feel like I have to thank you for doing what you where supposed to do in the first place. Yes, the PSN is a “free” service, but many of us have bought the system for the online play in the first place. Your lack of propper security measures was a hughe s*#ew up, your totally unexistant dissaster recovery plans the big fail.

Sony, start caring about your consumers and start growing some humbleness, because this attack and the later system shut down has shown that you are not the untouchable giant you thought you where…

Also, offering us “identity theft protection” is also extremely insulting. In this day and age, all you need to do is cancel your card and get another. What actually is happening is Sony is buying (In bulk) identity packages from a dealer, for a fraction of what people would pay, then shelling them out to their customers. This hooks them into the I.T. program, where the I.T. company makes money on repeat sales. It’s disgusting and dishonest, and I find it insulting that Sony is offering me a useless coupon for a service I don’t need to make up for the violation of my privacy.
