Update on Service Restoration Rollout

We’re currently experiencing an extremely heavy load of password resets, and so we recently had to turn off services for approximately 30 minutes to clear the queue.

As such, a large number of people are attempting to change their passwords at the same time, it’s taking longer than expected for all those emails to clear all of the ISPs.

If you’ve requested your password reset, please give it a bit of time to reach your email. Thanks for your patience as we work to get everyone back online.

  • Thank you for resolving the problem with the network now we can get back to buying and playing games i hope that all of the precautions that have been put in place keep the network safe and running strong. PS. have fun gamers

  • Can we get an update as to when the PSN store will start to open for each region because my Ps3 replacement broke right before the network went down so when I got my 2nd replacement Ps3 back it didn’t have any of my online accesses for my games so I still can’t go online. It’s feels like my girl slapped me in the face on top of my ps3 breaking twice cause everyone else can go online and I still can’t.

    Stop blaming Anonymous for this whole hacker business…they did do a DDoS attack on Sony, but that is ALL! Another party is responsible for stealing credit card info, etc. Come on! Really? Common scam artists? Anonymous? That really isn’t their style and if you knew anything about them…you wouldn’t have posted that accusation…

  • ok everybody needs to stop trashing playstation network were even lucky that they had worked as fast as they can to put psn back online and you need to wait there going state by state so it can not crash the servers and we would have to wait again so just calm down, there trying there best as fast as they can it hasnt even been a full month usually it takes months they have restore it less then a month so be glad and playstation yall need to watch out there gonna hack again to try do it again after they have tryed to hack into xbox live and do the samething ohh and guys we should be thankful that its free non-like xbox user which have to pay

  • they answered it here during the outage. if you logged before the outage, your cookies get you signed in. pretty easy an no magic trick to it.

PSN has been down for 3 weeks, did You think 77 million people would wait 3 more days to log in so as not to overwhelm the servers? comeon…….You should have expected and prepared for such a rush of gamers to log on the moment it went up.

  • IN RESPONSE to sonys network… WE did pay for it….What do you think the 60-70$ games go to besides thier pocket… Still the ultimate thing is we are not a priority, and they (Sony) know it, because all they do is tick their customers off and lie to them… Three weeks of crap and still the network is crap….BLOWS!!!

    You obviously don’t understand networking infrastructure. Most ISP’s set out a limit as to how many emails you can send and receive in an hour. Sony being as big as they are has a much higher threshold for sending out emails than we do as normal consumers.. that said, with how many password change requests that were going out, yes it takes a while. Everyone was trying to login at the same time, any network would take time to respond to that.

    When faced with spam (in the form of multiple emails) typical server behavior is to throttle those messages and send out X number of emails at a time, wait 10-30 seconds and then send out the next batch until all of the emails are sent. THAT is what took so much time for the Password Reset Emails to be sent out.

    Where do all these haters come from? That is what i want to know + Because of all this i will be buying ‘MORE’ PSN games[when the store is back] + buying every PS3 Exclusive going this year and beyond. And that is because SONY have given me 13+ years of amazing gaming. I will NEVER forget that;)
