The PlayStation Recap

29 9

Europe was the epicenter of PlayStation news and announcements this week, and fortunately the EU PlayStation.Blog‘s James Gallagher has been keeping us updated with new interviews for Resistance 3 and Journey. inFAMOUS 2 developer Sucker Punch Productions also revealed two new companion characters that will serve as moral touchstones for Cole’s adventure in New Marais.

As for me, I’m consumed by Dead Space 2. I’m currently creeping my way through the flickering corridors of the Sprawl, carefully counting bullets and stomping Necromorph corpses. Because I’m playing on the Survivalist difficulty, I’ve been struggling to stay one step ahead of certain death — with mixed results. Has anyone been brave enough to take on the Hardcore mode?

    • hey sid from your previous post Q&A of Dark Souls So to come to my understanding there will be 2 player/co-op for the storymode

      • There’s definitely some form of co-op, but based on how the director explained it, it’ll be implemented differently than in most games. Guess we’ll need to wait and see…

    • and yet no word if tales of graces will come to the ps3 or not.funny, since jeff was supposed to have beign at the namco event this past week :0

    • Will we hear and see more developers coming on this Blog to talk about their games?- Valkyria Chronicles 3, Parasite Eve: The 3rd Birthday, and my most anticipated game: Catherine??? Also, any plans to have them in Alternate, Collector’s, Limited or Ultimate Editions for those games I mentioned???

Speaking of “Editions” – I am VERY (if not most utterly) disappointed that SCE of A have not done anything to secure “Editions” for us here in Stateside! Why is that? Japan and Europe are the only two continents that are very well treated with these privileges… But why not for us?

    • The PlayStation Blog rocked it this week!

Also, I just got my 4 day Comic-Con tickets today. Hope to see the what you guys got going on for the PlayStation booth soon.

    • Ok Whats this am hearing about black ops being shut down on ps3 due to the hacking happening….Is this True

    • Oh also I was wondering is killzone 3 co op offline aswell?

    • tales of graces f, thats the game I want. @perrandy yes its coming for ps3. Resistance 3 and dark souls are a must as well.

    • Dark Souls for me. And every other AAA game.

    • Hardcore mode? I’d normally never even consider it if it weren’t for the foam finger gun. YouTube it if you haven’t seen it.

      • Awesome, isn’t it? Survivalist is plenty tough for me, though I do plan to try the New Game + Mode to further upgrade my guns. Great game.

    • When are you guys planning on fixing the forums?

    • black ops is not being shutdown because of hacks , there are several hacked games including teamfortress 2 (the orange box) that have been allowed to run in that state for sometime now , your only REAL recourse is to not play them .

    • It stinks that I’ve never been able to play 1 match in the Killzone 3 beta! I guess it’s because of connection issues, but my connection isn’t that terrible! If the main game is going to be this bad, I don’t think it’s worth it. I might enjoy the single player for a little bit, but then what?

      • The servers have been getting blasted, but keep trying. Remember this is just a beta, so it’s smaller scale than the final game will be.

    • Lately I’ve been playing the 2008 Prince of Persia for my platinum trophy in it. Sigh. I wish a sequel to it was coming. Oh well.
Personally, I’m excited for Marvel vs. Capcom 3. I’ve been watching lots of gameplay and now I’m officially stoked for it.
Anything cool coming this coming week?

      I’m playing: LBP2, Prince of Persia [2008]
I’m watching: The Superbowl (well, tomorrow), MvC3 gameplay
      I’m reading: The Alchemyst

    • PS to Sid: Read the Hunger Games. S’okay. Coulda been better. How you liking it Sid?

    • Sony gotta start making PS3 harddrives usable between different PS3s without having to format it. Make the damn thing usable. Put all user info etc on the HDD and not on the PS3 system itself. One dead PS3 is useless and so is it’s HDD and everything in it. fix it. 5 years now.

    • Any word on playstation brand products?
I don’t remember when exactly but it was a long while a go
I think I read that there were plans to get playstation brand/logo not just in the living room but in everyday life.
Then I think i read about Playstation brand shirts, mugs, keychains etc.
Is this still(was) in the works? or am i Just crazy XD.

on a side note: I’m sure if Sony/MM made a deal Build a Bear company for a limited time use of a Sackboy plush doll, it would generate revenue.
And then later upgrade to its own “build a Sackboy” store.
This upgraded build a sackboy store could then have it so what ever the person makes/decorates their new doll with
can instantly be used in the actual game.
      Via psn code or something

    • I’m playing: Dead Space 2 on Zealot difficulty, also chapter 9 I believe. I will MAYBE try out Hardcore after… but that’s a big maybe. Sounds too hard for me honestly :/ The game is already severely owning me in many areas that I can’t imagine the frustration of beating it with 3 saves.

      I’m watching: Nothing

I’m reading: Nothing… but I should still finish that last chapter of The Walking Dead Compendium.

      Argh, being busy sucks :(

    • I think you should check out and add that to your week’s end list of sites you are reading.

    • Killzone 3 Open Beta won’t let me connect. I’ve even gone through port forwarding hell hoping to fix this. No luck. GG going to update us on what’s going on as it is going to make it really hard for me to participate in the give away.

    • I’m playing: LittleBigPlanet 2 and the Killzone 3 open beta. LBP2 is awesome! I’m working on my LBP Prius level. The Killzone 3 open beta is very cool. The multiplayer is a blast. I like the “jobs” and “leveling up” (my fav “job”: Engineer!). Yes, its all about the rpg-ish features for me. lol. Though, the running and gunning gameplay is cool too. Plus the graphics are amazing. *drools* Fun game.

I’m watching: Dead Like Me, Farscape, and Stargate SG-1 on Netflix streaming! :)

I’m reading: This blog. lol. Just haven’t been able to find the right book to read lately.

Anyway, this was an excellent week for the Playstation 3. LBP2 awesomeness, the cool Killzone 3 open beta, and Netflix!

Next week looks cool too. Hope there’s a Stacking demo because I can’t wait to play that game! Also it looks like there will be some other interesting games out next week too. Can’t wait! :)

    • I started Dead Space 2 on Zealot, than went straight to hard core. I saved at chapter 7, 10 and 13. I beat it under 4 hours.. I found hard core easier than zealot.

    • Actually I forgot to state, I had platinumed the game fairly quickly as well. I prefer Dead Space 1 and Extraction over 2. However 2 is up there in just fun factor but fails in horror aspect as its more action than horror at this point.

    • Awwwwww. No Uncharted 3……this week.

    • I’m playing: Mass Effect 2, DC Universe Online and Costume Quest.

I’m watching: Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs with my nephew

I’m reading: Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins (surprisingly good books, aren’t they, Sid?)

    • Wow! we’re reading the same book! Well actually I’m on the second one now. Hope you’re enjoying it as much as I did!

    • Hey sid does killzone 3 have split-screen online?

    • @15…Like the idea….BaB could issue a QR code that described all the clothes you put on your bear IRL and then you could scan that code into LBP2 with you PSEYE. Seems like an awesome cross promo to me.

    • Will we have to wait much longer to learn inFamous 2’s release date?

    • When is coming out dark soul?

Please enter your date of birth.
