  • @RedFawkes215: we weren’t going to receive extra content regardless. The xbox 360 has been hacked since year one and they get ESPN 3…ect. Sony seems to be too lazy in that department. Quit blaming “hackers” for Sony’s short comings. Now with that said “hackers” aren’t the enemy it’s the cheaters who go online and ruin the PSN experience.

  • Honestly, i know they have alot of patches for security, and yes there are harmless hackers, but there are also hackers that ARE using it illegally, and you can expect Sony to atleast ATTEMPT to stop whats going on. If you dont then you must be out of your mind thinking that a multimillion dollar company is just gonna let their security (and money) fly out the window without trying to keep it safe.

  • hey do you think that we will get banned for talking about the hack and putting up the code on this post etc. ?

  • @d3m0n-h4Xr

were did you ever get the idea that minors are not bound to the terms of the EULA ? Also, since when has a parent giving a PS3 to a minor constituted the minor as the legal owner ? If you are a minor and you infringe a copyright with a device a parent bought for you, your parent or legal guardian is liable (if not you, depending on what country you live in).

Also I was implying that you may own the hardware, but you do not technically own the firmware, nor the PSN. do whatever you like, don’t get your panties in a knot, don’t download the new firmware, but good luck trying to access PSN in the future without it. So long as you are member of PSN, you are bound by the EULA you accepted to follow sony’s rules if you want to continue using it to play PSN enabled games.

  • what its not like they ain’t making money from more PS3s that are being sold to the day. They are always gonna make money, like was mentioned before that Xbox 360 has been hacked since day one its still getting bought hell its now considered one of the best communities for online gaming.. PS3 over priced and think they are gods.

  • You all say that your just using it harmlessly but im not going to leave my bank door open so people can harmlessly color on my money. Yeah so it doesnt cause me any harm from the few that just use it for fun but like im really gonna just say here ya go, door is wide open. As much as we would like it to be different, Sony is going to try to protect whats there, even if it means screwing over those that ARE using it harmlessly.

  • @darthredskin, True that it may be their shortcoming but I highly doubt any features are going to be on the list of updates now, and the reason (the other console) gets features like ESPN is because they pay for it and I might add that they got a price increase for those new (semi-useless) features. Cheaters online are no different from hackers, take Modern Warfare 2’s current state, if it wasn’t for the hackers then the online experience wouldn’t be so bad. The hackers are still to blame for releasing such tools for everyone to freely use.

  • Im not against hackers either honestly, im against the guys whining cuz they dont feel like waiting for an update or calling tech, there arent THAT many, seriously guys.

  • wow stop complaining about the 18 percent freeze and ylod you guys obviously have hardware issues on your part im sure sony uses the proper default systems that were intended to be updated. off course it cant update properly if you have modified the software or hardware. dumb@5535. you hackers are truly pathetic asking whats in the updates.

  • Do you guys REALLY think they didnt test it? really? just cuz your having issues it means that Sony didnt test it? Im so freaking tired of people blaming others cuz their bored or lazy.

  • @ClassicSpyroFan

computer security is not that easy since there really is no general unified theory of computer security, so there is no guarantee ahead of time of where exactly to look in your code for security holes and security holes are not always obvious when you see them. The best way (so far) is to just patch holes after they appear when the code is running in the wild.

  • @SUPERGAMER247

probably not for talking about it but maybe for puting up the code.

  • And if they actually took the time to read this then DUH your gonna get kicked for posting it, what are you stupid? why would you even do that on here??? But often their not really read, their just for people to comment on comments.

  • I am all for these security patches, especially with the recent hacking activity. However, I do agree with a lot of other gamers out there when they say “Where’s the cool new features?” I believe that you should incorperate the security patches into the content updates in the future so that the gamers do not dread updating their consoles.

  • @RedFawkes215: I agree to an extent. The other console does get better content because they do pay. Our features are pretty weak as is. And I agree it’s not getting any better anytime soon. Cheaters to me are way different than hackers. A hacker will release code/programs to make the ps3 do things in it’s retail state doesn’t do(Like emulators and media servers). A cheater (pirate..cheater..to me thats the same thing)cheats someone out of money/enjoyment. While games are extremely overpriced, there are options such as the game rental companies..ect.

  • ************
i put up the code and it is still up for moderation man im dumb today hasnt been a very good day luckily ive already disabled my ps3’s internet just in case they attempt to block my ps3 even though it isnt hacked

  • So, M4rin3R101, you are thinking that more then half of everyone on here and probably even more people that posted on here is considered wrong doing because we can’t get the 3.56 System update to work for us, sure thats our fault Because the more than half the gaming community hacks everything they get their hands on, stop blaming people, omg can’t you just maybe think for one second that maybe sony might’ve had a mistake out, because they were in the rush to throw it out.People make mistakes, this entire world is built on it. But its time that we stop complaining and learn from them, thats how we grow in this world.

  • i mean i dont think it matters because most of us are slightly manipulating the eula by talking about hacking the consoles so i dont think its going to matter hopefully

  • @sarcasmagasm

    1. im sure he meant reverse engineering software.(which it hacking in a sense)
    2. hacking is too widely used now. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hack_%28technology%29

look at that im sure sony mentioned something like that in the Eula and not just PSN there are books that come with your purchase.

  • lol well Hey, the PS3’s catch fraze is It can do everything! Right i thought thats what it was i could be wrong though …checks…. yep im right. Sorry not trying to be an ass but hey if it can do Everything why can’t it do our wanting CFW for Homebrew, backup managers, and everything that we come to enjoy, Technology has grown alot over the years and it has been hacked before and it will still then. Just relax and accept it. Like i have and i bet alot of the gaming community. If you don’t like it leave.

  • Wow, Sony’s really going to go Challenge Accepted guy on this?!

Actually I’m glad. I thought when their failure was QED’d by failoverflow, and confirmed by several PS3 dev shops that they’d simply resign. But knowing that they’re actually going to try to push back against this glacier of defeat, this is going to be much more entertaining!

  • No Sony’s catch phrase:
    It does almost everything…
    Games
    Movies
    Surfing the Net
    and our new feature
    We sue everybody

  • @PatienceofKaori

thats hardly a justification. You seem to forget that selling product is about making up for money spent first, and then making profit later. Games will cost $60 in their first year because large portions of that go to make up for the money spent to develop the products. It is perfectly possible that they will stop making money when people stop buying the products. Whether or not pirating games cuts into this is dependent on when its pirated. This is why I don’t really care about people pirating old games that have already broken even and made some profits, keeping the developers employed, but it kind of pisses me off when people pirate new games cause that’s what killed off the dreamcast. In fact, the lesson the video game industry learned about not being able to update security holes when they appear from the death of the dreamcast is the entire reason all new consoles have updatable firmware.

  • For those of you who think these updates are about in-game hacks its not its to keep people from running their own programs on the ps3, home brew and whatnot, not cheating at call of duty

  • Yeeeeah im sorry i dont mean to be an ass but why the freaking hell would you put up a code for hacking Sony’s biggest system ON THE SITE, and not only on their site but on a threat about a SECURITY UPDATE -.-

  • Bring on the secuity patches and stop the HACKERS!!!

  • Took a while to download a “minor update”..

  • Idk, i just love how people complain about a company this large as if they dont have any idea whatsoever what the hell their doing, honestly im sure some of you know alot more about what their doing than those actually doing it within the company. And ofcourse their gonna sue, if someone screws me over when i tell em not too il sue em too, its not like their suing based off bogus charges like spilling coffee in ur freaking lap.

  • @shystie, read the other pages…infact just the last one… the hackers arent gone… just postponed for like…an hour

  • It only fails at security.

    Bring on 3.57 lol

  • *megaman please 2

  • The hackers are complaining that Sony is trying to stop the hackers, and the players are complaining that the hackers are already able to get through the newest version…..-.- anyone seeing some insane stupidity here?

  • @Falken08
I’d sue too if I were them to be perfectly honest. I would’ve fully understood what I was trying to sue for first though. According to those documents they don’t have a clue. The thing I don’t like about these so called patches is that in less than 48 hours it makes almost no difference because it will be hacked again. I’m not a hardware engineer or anything but you figure you should start banning offending consoles with these patches.

  • Come on give us new features like MKV playback, Cross Game Chat and so on … I’m sick of minor updates, we all know this is just an update to kill the hack attempts. I respect that, I really do, but PLEASE … Give us something new.

  • sarcasmagasm, you are absolutely right and i understand that, there is always gonna be copyright problems though its the way of life these days, by people downloading movies off the internet music and everything just to skip paying the extremely rich guy more money. Like with Theater movies, if im somewhat interested watching it i would prolly just download it, and watch it if i like it i will buy it saves me $7.50 for the most terrible movie aka Battlefield earth with John travolta anyways.. its also the way because sometimes you can’t find this crap anymore as well. You have to search alot of places and sometimes even ebay doesn’t have what you are looking for, but the internet and the downloading community have, what if i want to test a game and i like it and i buy it afterwards whats wrong with that, because i don’t wanna pay $65 for a game that’s gonna be [DELETED], like darksiders my brother wanted to play that we payed full price on the first time it came out at vintage stock a major store that has everything anyways.. and we absolutely hated the damn game, this is usually tests out and thats what i do is test. I love gaming thats alot of my life, Just to have fun, and being able to have money for i can continue it.

  • I want a facebook client too, to post on my wall, see my friends updates and so on …

  • I still think… someday I will wake up, come into blog.us.playstation.com and see “PS3 System Software Update (v3.90) Welcome back PS2!” and in details we will read “adds PlayStation 2 backwards compatibility based on the software emulation used in some CECHE models. No full backwards compatibility is supported yet, but we will work in that so we can deliver a little percentage of improvement in every software update release. Enjoy your brand new PS2s, fellows!”

  • @darth
and i completely agree, just start freakin banning em, i mean is it that complicated? If you wana hack something go hack an xbox, The reason i enjoy PS3 is because its free and fair, especially when compared to what…90% of Xbox? And if you must hack a PS3 dont complain when they try to stop you, what do you expect, i mean really. They SHOULD get more features but hey, one thing at a time, im sure their doing quite a bit in researching for the MOVE at the moment. And you may be right about the suing, but those making the accusations and those doing the suing may be completely different people in all seriousness.

  • Right now the only complaint i have is that they had the nerve to call this MINOR, i cant imagine how long the MAJOR one will take. And has anyone considered that if this is only a minor update they may not give a crap if its already hacked? Where theres a failed minor, theres often a major to come in and knock it out of the park.

  • Falken08 i have a feeling that the major would take a day in half to do its official updating :P

  • installing fine so far.. didnt get kicked offline or anything..

hopefully this atleast puts a halt to the cheap consumer’s and lame cfw user’s snooping around in area’s they dont belong..

whats the world coming to these days’s.. we wonder why game’s are $60 bucks and dlc is now averaging $10-15.. its because of the weak consumer that see’s this cfw as a way to get out of paying for what other people pay for..

the guy that invented this crap is probably phobic to door knob’s and lives in his moms attic..

  • XD yeah probly, i wouldnt even be able to get it, this one was around 300 MB i believe, i didnt check once it passed 200 so idk, but either way, thats not what i call minor

  • @osricenpatt….good luck with that, with Sony and other companies releasing those ‘HD collections’ now you’ll likely NEVER see PS2 BC of any kind on a current or future PS3 because those collections are making them too much money.

@Falken08…how is $15 for some downloadable titles you have ZERO resell rights to ‘fair’? Something that I only have a digital copy of should NOT cost as much as a cheaper physical copy game imo.

THAT is a major problem with PSN to me.

  • the next real feature update probably wont be for like 6 more months because of this nonsense.. so i’d stop wasting my breath people..

by the time we get another one uncharted 4 will prob be coming out and the ps3 will be up to version 6.5+ like the psp..

  • No one said you had to go online and buy it from PSN, i meant playing online and i meant the fairness of its players, please keep your smartassery (if its a word) to yourself

  • Especially coming from someone whos name is Playstation3Sux, who is on a blog about a playstation 3 update, on the playstation 3 site.

  • LOL Real feature update? Like what? OMG CROSS GAME CHAT! Bahahahaha. Stupid and worthless crap, just like the sparkly background on the PS3, the Facebook icons and the 4-5 PS Store icons they added so dummies could find their way there to spend more money on overpriced garbage.

  • @Falken08

I own a PS3, believe it or not, but there have been so many FLUFF updates it’s not even funny. See my post above for some of the junk I feel they’ve cluttered up my PS3 I paid them $300 for with that also took up a bit of my GAMING time and added NOTHING that related to gaming that I’d want.

  • Dude if you dont like whats on there then dont buy it, the ones that are 15 are usually full games, and we all agree that the updates arent adding too much usefull stuff lately, now if ur just gonna whine about its features on a blog about a security update please kindly escort yourself down to the Xbox blogs and troll to them, im sure they would enjoy the company.

  • And yeah your right, but personally, a security update would be pretty helpful to those who have their credit card information stored on their account, im pretty sure thats a bit more important than an hour or two of your life which ur pretty much wasting playing games anyway, and that wasnt a jab at you, im wastin my time too, but its still a valid point
