sony slim cant play its own games !!! i got a duffle bag of ps2 games but not one is playable.. ps3 do got browser.. with out flash, laggy and been over due for an update for the past 3 years… bring chrome and skype !!!
sure we have free online gaming, compare to xbox liv.. you pay for what you get.. soo much host migrating and lag..
but overall i still enjoy my ps3 and woulnt trade it..

Dosen’t have full backwards compatiblillity like the Wii.

Riiiight… Because when a consumer is picking their console, being able to use a headset to talk to others while playing something entirely different is a BIG selling point. Nevermind that most people don’t use headsets in the first place. The features above aren’t exhaustive for ANY SYSTEM. Why would the average consumer care about more than half the stuff they could list?

Here is a CRAZY idea! Why not…….Update the Ps3’s WEB BROWSER??? The Ps3 is the most POWERFUL system on the Market yet the browser Runs like its on a ps1!(Freezes way to much)
Come on Guys, If cell phones can Produce High quality YOUTUBE videos so can the Ps3!This is ridiculous. Please Update the Browsers Flash and Java and include DIVX Codecs.
Lets make the PS3 even more attractive to the consumers! Then after updating the browser to high quality firefox status, mention it in a future kevin butler commercial. This browser needs the Improvement Give people another reason to buy a PS3!

PS2 compare to PS3 is empty box man! compare to price and xbox – stick to Sony’s slim which is disrespected by me not even changes form factor to care about tech going super fast forward compare to revision to see quality how many revisions does MS made to catch up to Sony all tho they still fall down because they still produce brick systems – which means Sony has better user Feedback or the know how to manage the right one + engineering from the start (scratch) is very high end

That’s funny. All that is a list of PS3 selling points. Why not list all of the selling points of all systems in that chart and then compare who has MOST of them instead? Where are:
While I do agree that the PS3 has more for your dollar, it most definitely doesn’t do anything close to everything.
However they only pick what they can answer to reply to, and only if it can make them look good..lol
I love my PS3 and I hate Microsoft, but God forbid if a company can say, yes we do suck in that department we should really work on that. Instead they just excluded them or say they aren’t important when everyone knows they are.
If PS3 or 360 had no competition, they both would be terrible systems. Ex. The newer Madden games IMO are not great. Why? Theres no competition. EA got scared when NFL 2K5 came out with a better game, so EA buys the rights to the players names. So now EA does not have to worry about any other dev producing another NFL game; in essence they don’t have to work on the game nearly as much as they did after 2005. Competition is good, it ensures that a great product will be made. Thats why PS3 and 360 are both great systems with their pros and cons.

As much as I love Sony (and I do, best system for it’s price) it does not do everything. Far from it. In fact posting this list with intent to insult other consoles only goes to show how threatened some Sony execs must be feeling after the past few NPD sales results. Look PS3 is the best of the 3 major consoles no doubt about it, and 2011 will be the best year for PS3 gamers in terms of exclusives. But the PS3 does not eclipse the other systems by huge leaps and bounds. Add in Backwards compatiblity for PS2 games, cross game chat, and fix up the internet browser (in addition to the constant freezing, it can’t even go on youtube anymore!) and then you can post this chart up once more and it will be rightfully so.

I really hope, pray and wish that you can post another BLOG entry regarding the PS3 Features that boggle the mind & confuse many. Even up on the Sony web site, the lack of information and details is horrible.
In the System Settings, when you scroll down the list, in this instance for example, the Audio settings can be confusing. When you see PCM, Bitrate, Linear PCM..
Some see those words and know exactly what they mean. Others, I admit, like myself, read the differences, but don’t quite
“get it”.
Hey, I admit, I’m pretty friggan smart, but at times, i feel like a moron when no matter how many times someone explains the difference between Linear and PCM etc, I just don’t get it.
But the PS3, NEEDS to be better understood and more polished.
How can WE, capitalize on the PS3 system, how can we max out the settings, and how can WE get theee most for our money, and that is where you come in.
It would be really beneficial for you to come out with a so-called, “PS3 System & PS3 Settings for Dummies!!”

+ I have in mind idea to buy extended warranty from Sony before middle of January and sleep well for 2 years

this is a playstation blog. Most of us already have a PS3, so there’s no need to convince us to get one! Also, this post comes off as entirely biased and irrelevent to most of us. (a few people have already stated that most of us are extremely educated on ALL systems) I don’t know if this post was supposed to draw in more Playstation Consumers or to further convince current Playstation consumers that they made the right choice, but either way I don’t think this was the right way to do it…

Playon.tv does not even count as an ESPN3 app. I don’t even have a ps3 wow!!! I’m getting one but according to ESPN’s corporate leaders. They have not licensed ESPN 3 to be serviced to PS3. Now unless you are calling them liars; the creators of ESPN, then you do not have an ESPN3 app for your ps3.
The only thing ps3 needs is cross game chat, which is a major thing.

Uhh… why would you do that? Even if it broke 20 times it’s still covered by warranty (slim has not been out for a year), and I know Microsoft’s service would tell you as much. I seriously doubt you even own a 360.
Hey SONY guys, how about adding Cross-Game Chat, Party Mode, custom soundtracks for every game, and backwards compatibility to the list? I guess that’d make your “choice” a little bit harder, wouldn’t it?

wow you think this is a lets tell you what is not on the list comment section. I think with the comparison including the Roku Boxee, and AppleTV they didn’t dig deep on the gaming features. I agree I would love to see XGC, Party system, and a demo for every game. I don’t care about Other OS. I never had. The Browser is fine for me on the PS3. Sure a webkit version would be better. Sony talk to Netflix about that. But seriously I can play farmville on my PS3 so it is not all that bad. Also EPSN3 I like I can watch on the browser.
OK other media features to be the best is MKV support. Add MKV support and become the King of Media servers. Don’t and you can never be the King someone else not on the list will be.
Also reach out more to indie developers. HTML5 is a good idea. Also an App Store. It is good to be prepared
None of the services are available in PR!! I pay the same ammount of money as people in the US for my netflix service and they don’t consider us or even give us a special rate!

Alright, a few comments to this mess…
1) I have had the web browser on my PS3 crash twice in the years I have owned the PS3. It only handles websites like Youtube, facebook, Pandora, etc, etc. Call those “non-typical” sites if you wish, but the browser is good enough and seems faster and better than any other offering I’ve seen in any console. Is it as fast as the one of my laptop? No, but apples and oranges people.
2) Cross-Game Chat. Useless feature in my opinion. Why bother adding the bloat to the system and lag down servers? The bandwidth isn’t necessary and I’d rather have other features first.
3) Other OS Removal. Yes, it was removed. Get over it. I am happy with Linux on my laptop. I don’t need it on my PS3.
4)Cost of PS3 is still cheaper than getting the XBox 360 and then buying a QUALITY Blu-Ray player. All the games I want to play are available on the PS3. New Features are added from time to time. So, to me, it’s the best value for entertainment both games and movies especially since the PS3 is the standard for all blu-ray players.
On my want list:
1) NFL Content
2) Incremental Updates/Better Data Compress
3) More Original Content
4) Multiple Players Logged in earning Trophies
I’ve just bought my PS3 as it was time to move on from my PS2 ( i know i know) however as i also bought a HD Sony Bravia can I say the PS3 blows everything out of the water. The internet browser ok its not perfect but it”l do me. love the online gaming sure i keep getting beat but its stills fun!! Blu-ray outta tghis world also linking it with my server software brings me a full etertainment centre. I am still finding out all it can do but I love it. As for the games FIFA Pro Evo and Need for Speed ( which i played on the PS1) are all mind blowing in quality and game play!! I love the PS3!!

Sorry, I misunderstood what the PS2 System Data download does. (Partly because I never needed it).
In that case, I guess I’m just glad I bought a PS3 while it had backwards compatibility, and have been able to use every firmware upgrade since then. I never would have suspected that $300+ purchase was consumer-savvy.
