Not long ago, our friends at O-Games announced here on the blog that Superstars V8 Racing would be launching in North America exclusively on PlayStation Network as a download with all of the trimmings of a retail game for only $19.99. Today we’re here to let you know that the date is officially set for October 26th – and we’d love to tell you more about our studio and the work we put into the project since its inception.

My name is Luca Ferrara, and I’m the Game Director on Superstars V8 Racing. As a developer, Milestone has been working in the racing genre for many, many years. Driving is our passion, and bringing our passion into the world of video games is our specialty. Some of you might know us from other franchises on two wheels like Moto GP 07SBK Superbike World Championship series. Others might recognize us from our days working on games like the Screamer series and Evolution GT. While a large portion of our fans reside in Europe, we rarely get an opportunity to reach out to our fans in the US – so I’m happy to be here to tell you more about Superstars V8 Racing and excited to soon have our fans in the States get behind the wheel.

The game is based on the official license of the Superstars Series, a championship of top-class V8 cars organized by Infront Motor Sports. Up until we began development, no one had ever attempted to recreate this series in a game at this level of detail, so we hit the tarmac and began modeling and building out the ultimate V8 experience. The end result is an action-packed racing game that lets you feel the power of the V8 cars, which are insanely high tuned vehicles derived from production models, such as the BMW 550, the Audi RS4 or the Jaguar S Type R. They have up to 450 HP, so you’ll really have to tame them! You’ll have the chance to race on 10 exciting tracks, such as the Italian circuit of Monza, Portimao in Portugal or Kyalami in South Africa.

There are several game modes that you can play: quick race, time attack, race weekend or the whole championship. Moreover, Superstars V8 Racing features many special challenges that will test your abilities to the limit! When you feel you are good enough and you want to face other real drivers, you can play online: the multiplayer supports up to 12 players. The game also lets you enable a series of driving aids to make the game experience just as you like it. The style of play can be set between Arcade, with all driving aids activated, or Simulation, where everything is determined by the ability of the driver.

Our hope is that players will be able to recognize that we wanted to deliver an immediate recreation of a raw driving experience. What counts here is speed and competition, and you’ll find plenty of both!

All of that said, we’re just a few weeks away from launch, and as we mentioned in the headline – yes – our friends at O-Games are also giving away some FREE DOWNLOAD CODES for the game at launch in the US! How can you win? Simply head to the newly launched official North American ‘Superstars V8 Racing’ Facebook page, “Like” the page, and then post the phrase ‘Superstars V8 Racing on PSN’ onto the wall. You’ll then be automatically entered to randomly win one of 25 download codes that will be given away on October 26th. You have until October 25th at 11:59pm PST to enter! Also, with 12-player multiplayer, be sure to suggest the page to friends so they can get in on the action too!

Thanks again for all of your support, and we can’t wait to get you on the tracks at a low cost without needing to leave the comfort of your own couch when the game hits the PlayStation Store on the 26th. Take care!

P.S. – And yes – to confirm – the game WILL feature FULL Platinum Trophy support that will surely have you speeding around corners to win the full set in no time. Enjoy!

  • will be a demo of this?,at 20.00 seems a deal

  • Even though Gran Turismo 5 is a week away from your release date, i’ll still support your title as well, looks cool!

  • i must post into ‘Superstars V8 Racing’ wall, or into my wall??

  • It kind of sucks that all these things are being done through FaceBook and all these other technological social media mediums these days. I do not have a FB and will not get one. So I guess I’m out of luck when it comes to winning some codes.

At the very least anyway, the game looks pretty good and I loves me a good racing game. So I’ll probably check it out.

  • Gran Turismo ~ move over, you got some major competition on your hands…and you might want to reduce that launch price too.

  • I don’t have FB either, but I’ll use someone’s FB to try and win a code.

  • Can you confirm if this game will fully support 900 degree steering and cluth/manual on the Logitech G25/G27 wheel?

  • Visually the game looks amazing. Looking forward to checking it out.

  • My 4 year old son is gonna love this. Thanx dudes.

  • @5

Don’t get cocky on pricing. These guys are offering us a full on console racing experience for $19.99. That is a really good price considering all of the work that has gone into the texturing and physics of the game. Making games like this is not cheap. Its not like the guy is asking for 50 or 60 bucks.

    • Lord_Rinja has the right idea. We’re thrilled to be able to get this out to you in a digital format. It helps us keep the cost down, and helps you get a LOT more for you dollar! The team at Milestone are experts in this genre, and they’ve cut no corners on quality. Very excited to get everyone behind the wheel!

  • Awesome game. Reply

  • SO STUPID, were is your marketing team on this decision to release 3 week after F1 2010 and 1 week before Gran Turismo 5.
I was ready to buy your game this summer, not just seem the most idiot time to release and you are not giving yourself a fair chance to sell this product. You will not see my money…not because i don’t have some….but because who would want to play this when GT5 and F1 are now out….bad bad bad decision

  • Looks pretty solid, platinum support and everything.

    • The whole nine yards, BigBoss! Everything you’d normally find on a disc – now ready to rock the PlayStation Store for $19.99.

  • If you look at the website, this game’s been out since last year in Europe on the 360, PC, and PS3. That’s why we’re getting it here for so cheap. Kinda like how Wipeout, Burnout, and Warhawk all have platinum and are ~$20

  • If it was released a MONTH before GT5 it may have been something to play in the meantime.

But, seriously, I’m not really going to pick this up ONE WEEK before GT5.

$19.99 is a nice price point and the game looks fairly decent but after Nov. 2 it would never be touched again…sadly no purchase for me…

  • I think this game is toward people who will not buy GT5 like myself. I am planning on picking up GT5, but not during release maybe once it becomes a greatest hit. There is not alot of games that I pick up day one that is at full price. So, PSN is the place that I go to shop for most of my ps3 games. I will be picking up this on day one if I don’t win one of those free codes.

  • Game looks great for $20.00 dollars!

  • 11:59 Pacific?! Awesome…. it’s not like that’s 2:59am here on the east coast. Oh well

  • I’ld like the free download code, but not if I have to go to Facebook for it. Don’t have a Facebook account and don’t want a Facebook account. Should be able to apply through PS since it is a PS game

  • @19 I think they are trying to get free marketing for the game by having people like it on facebook. I see this is becoming common with all different types of things.

  • This has to be the dumbest release of a game to date. GT 5 is King Kong of the virtual racing world. Who in their right mind thought it would be a good idea to release t his game 6 days prior baffles me. Good luck on sales you’ll need it :)

  • @21 I guess that just shows their confidence in the product. It may not be the best decision, and I can’t say that they’ll do spectacularly, but it makes me wonder how good the game is. If they’re confident enough to release it 1 week before GT5, it must be a pretty good alternative…especially at that price point.

  • @Lord_Rinja~ Don’t get it twisted player lol… I know the price is great for this game. I was talking to the Gran Turismo team to lower the launch price for it…if they don’t they may lose sales and you know very well they want money. I know they are reading this and other racing game blogs that go up. Just throwin my 2 cents in here.

  • How are you guys able to make such a high quality title for just $20? Was it more expensive on launch in europe and was it on disc over there? I would get it if it didn’t come out so close to GT5. Risky isn’t even the word. As someone else said, it looks really good, but I wouldn’t touch it after Nov.2.

  • @2 You mean a month away.

  • Lol @ the few people here saying they don’t have nor will EVER get a Facebook account. Just sounds snooty. There’s nothing wrong with joining a popular site. It’s popular for many good reasons.

Anyway, this game does look nice. But I’m afraid I may not check it out until I’m done with GT5…Which could be a while. Hopefully there is a demo to help persuade me to buy it anyway!

  • bad released date i have GT5 Collector’s Edition paid in full already and then after when im done with GT5 comes Motorstorm Apocalypse so i dont think i will be getting it but who knows

  • @23 PhillyTheCat There is no way you can compare this to GT5, no matter how good Superstars V8 Racing might be. Have you seen ANY of the articles outlining the ridiculous number of features that are incorporated into GT5?

To say that people may not buy GT5 because of the low price point of this game is ludicrous. I’m sure Polyphony Digital and SONY are currently scrambling to rethink GT5’s promotion and pricing…LMFAO ROFL…

  • Hey Luca,

I hope you’re reading this, but you’re probably not going to answer me, but is there any chance you are going to bring over here the World Rally Championship game you developed? or do I have to import it?

  • It seems promising since its exclusive, has a platinum and its $20 (which seems fair) so it would be worth looking into, but the timing could not be worse. I don’t really need a racing game to tide me over for one week until the release of Gran Turismo 5.

  • Was Screamer 2 the racing game that had one track set in Colombia? If it was, I bought the game just for that. :-)

  • Well, my copy of F1 2010 arrives in a couple days and I have GT5 on order, but I’ll give this a try too – if it supports the Logitech G25/27 wheel.

No mention of wheel support, so would you please elaborate? Thanks.

  • Are you going to release Superstars V8 Racing on PSN in Europe as well?

  • What’s the space requirement for this game? I don’t have much left and I need 10gigs for Gran Turismo

  • ^ buy a hard drive

  • Odd question, but any chance you’ll have downloadable coverart for the title? I like to have a display of my titles in boxes. Thanks.

  • looks great . i am a big fan of racing games . will there be any unlock-ables for playstaytion Home? HOMELINGS ROCK !!!

  • I don’t truly buy racer but I think i should start with this one.

  • Why didn’t you choose the newer title Superstars V8: Next Challenge?

SSV8NC has a much too big deadzone – it would have been nice to fix this or let the user configure it.
There should have been some post-release support for the V8 games, i.e. title updates.

  • You should have put this game out THIS WEEK! Putting it out a week before GT5 releases is, in my honest opinion, a very big mistake. We GT fans are looking for something to keep us busy during the LOOOONG month of October. Your game could have done that nicely. A week before GT5? Wow.

  • If this is going to be another game full of bugs and bad physics like SBK X, with no patching or support after its release, then please take your passion somewhere else, Milestone.

  • Well that sucks. Don’t use facebook, so I’m SOL. Too lame. Maybe down the road I’ll give the game a try.

  • Are you bringing the new WRC game out in North America too???

  • so awesome.
just wondering does this share any similarities to the old V8 supercars (1) (2) game that came out for the ps2 many years ago. it had the V8 supercars licences and Australian tracks in it. i thinks it may have been renamed toca touring car championships but i only played the V8 supercars tracks. which sucked in the second one because you couldn’t just play through the game however you wanted you had to unlock them in career mode.
and does this support g25 with force feedback?

  • Everyone, go on facebook and like this page, O-Games just said that if they reach 2500 likes by Wednesday, they’ll raise the number of prize codes to 50 so get there and like this page for more chances to win!

  • Okay I liked it and I entered. I’m getting GT5, but still it’s a PSN game, and I could win it free, and it can keep me while I wait for GT5. So why the heck not?

  • Looks so awesome I hope I get a code because I posted on their FaceBook wall. :D

  • Hi, Luca.

I’ve tried to contact Blackstone, but never get any replies. You guys really need to work on fan relations. ;)

Also, this is the first release and I am already playing the second version. I never got the first one, so I will probably get this one, too, just to play with friends here.

For anyone considering getting this, it should be a reasonable play, especially at this price, but don’t forget that you get what you pay for, too.

  • There is a new supporter of this contest. Read the rules, above, and post the right words.

If 1999 “likes” are made before Oct 26th, then will give away 15 addition PSN codes. Please spread the word to racing sim fans!
