  • @89

thank you, that really needed to be said lmao people need to get over this “OMG THEY NEVER UPDATE AT EXACTLY 1 TIME EVERY WEEK ON THE MINUTE!!!!” seriously need to calm down people and just check the store at night! lol

  • Why is Piyotama 67% more expensive on the PSP then the PS3? I was being sarcastic all those times I said there must be some rule that requires PSP games to be overprices but I guess there really is one.

Not even one Mini? wow that makes no sense. You could have bumped something up to give it some time all by itself in the sun.

  • Ehh, it’s okay at best.

I think, however, that the PS1 legacy titles you released this week might be a path to getting other licensed PS1 titles up on the store, like Muppet RaceMania, Muppet Monster Adventure, and Looney Tunes: Sheep Raider (known as Sheep, Dog, & Wolf overseas).

    BJ

  • So far the games they put up for free for PS+ subscribers I had not bought. So far its been well worth the $50.

  • Nice update this week, something for PSP owners

Any chance we will get the PSOne classic Vagrant Story?? This game has already been available in Japan and EU Playstation Stores for quite some time now.

  • When are you going to add Pac Man? You have many other classic arcade games but not Pac Man. What a disgrace.

  • Once again another week goes by without Sony getting any of my hard-earned cash. Sony support for PSP is SO dead. You guys are lucky MGS:PW and P3P are out now, ’cause if it weren’t for them, my PSP would be gathering dust while I play DQ9… When will we get PS1 Classics that everyones been crying for?

  • Rakis, you are so quick to be the first to criticize, why don’t you fill out an application and show them how it should be done.

    Seriously.

  • Also curious, I’m guessing the answer is yes, but this qualifies as the second month for PS+, right? I wasn’t expecting it until next week.

  • It seems Sony does stuff just to prove release rumors and game rumors wrong ex: on the gamelift site it says eartworm Jim July 10 next psn update is in august !!! Castle crashers was submitted in June next update is in august WTF Sony I’m beginning to get a little twinkle in my eye for the new 360 with espn Sony better shape up and QUICK !!!!

  • @100
If the wait for Crashers seems bad, just remember the Trine fiasco.

  • I’m glad I’m a PS+ member. Thanks for the content Sony.

  • Question: Is this officially the second month of Playstation Plus, or is this just an end of the month bonus?

  • This better not be the big PS+ update for month two… If so I’ve clearly been ripped off…

  • Amazing update this week! Especially if you’re a PS+ member like myself. :)

But Seriously Grace, I’m actually on my knees as I type this, It’s 8 pm on the east coast when this update goes live, and it usually takes an hour or so to download this stuff before going in for work the next day. I really don’t have the time at nights. So please if you could make it so that it’s around 5pm EST, 3 pm PST I don’t see it being that hard of a problem. If you work on it the night before, on Monday, and have everything ready to go like it’s a Monday update then everything will be good to go on Tuesday with the addition of a few minutes to tweak things. 8 pm is just ridiculous really.

  • I think some of you might have the issue with properly timed updates backwards. The very reason some of us would like a time for the update is because we are busy, and like to see what’s new but don’t have all day to keep checking.

My company has a big release each month, at a certain day and time. We have to have everything ready BEFORE that so we can pull the trigger at the right time.

This is almost more of an oddity than a problem; as I mentioned in a post above, I have come to expect more efficient performance from Sony.

  • Hey Sony, you might want to let someone at EA know they screwed up w/ that Skate 3 add-on. It’s not charging for the content. :)

  • Getting sick of hearing this “people shoud be fired for not releasing at a fix time”.

You don’t like it? Vote with your feet and go to another console – the door is that way.

But you have no idea whether the people posting the update are doing their job or not. And even if they weren’t that is between them and their boss, not some nameless internet poster.

Just because you feel its imperitive that sony release their updates at a fixed time does not mean that sony or a majority of ps3/psp owners agree with you.

Solid update in my opinion – though I’m also curious if this is the start of our august plus update.

  • I think Grace clocks out after posting the blog, my guess is she’s trying to avoid the traffic. Replies? Hello? Anybody? No?

  • already have critter crunch GIVE US A FREAKING CHOICE OF A COUPLE GAMES! I am not going to buy any games now becuase I’m afraid it going to be on ps+

  • Great Update

  • Nice update
thank you very much for this and I am Glad being PS+ subscriber!
    :D starting my downloads now.

  • My psn+ nightmares are coming true… I already own critter crunch and syphon filter (not to mention wipeout hd and some of the other giveaways).

That said, critter crunch is an awesome game and I am diggin the mini’s that I never really paid attention to before.

  • You already gave away Syphon Filter for free with Qore last year. And that one we got to keep forever. Lame.

And dynamic themes are now being pushed to $4? God, I hope no one pays that price. $3 is already $1 too much for a theme.

  • Rakis…they will put things on sale whenever..so the truth is your babbling your mouth at Sony for god sake.

Anyways.. this this is great update! Downloading Madden NFL 2011 right now and also FLOWER

  • It would be nice to get newer games with PS+ or at least discounts on newer games. Games I would have bought in the past, I am no longer buying because I expect eventually they will be free or discounted.

I am still happy with PS+, even if I only get one game a month I like, it will be worth the $3.33/month I am paying.

  • I am a PSN Plus subscriber and I have enjoyed the free themes and I like the idea of the free minis and PS ONE games though I haven’t played anything that I’ve downloaded from those selections. I wondered when I’d be offered a free game that I already purchased and now it has happened with Critter Crunch. I can’t be too upset about it(I didn’t have Wipeout and I’m sure many others did) but maybe you should think of offering a voucher to plus subscribers who have already purchased your free games, something for equal or lesser value. I can’t sell or trade my purchased PSN games so I just lose out a perk for that week.

Is Critter Crunch “THE” free PSN game for August? or just a nice little surprise at the end of the first month.

It does make me skeptical to buy other PSN games on a whim anymore, because they maybe offered for free. Think about the voucher or expect a lot of PSN store shoppers to be in a state of holding, or just forecast a few months in advance what free games we’ll be getting make a schedule of upcoming features.

  • I’m unsure about the Transformers DLC. What if I don’t want the characters and just want the maps? How much do the characters cost and how much for just the maps? I’m just interested in the maps, I don’t want to spend 6 or 7 bucks on multiplayer characters I don’t need or want. I already have Jazz from the card that came with the game. I don’t want to have to pay for him when I already have him.

  • I don’t know what’s up with the SSF4 complete costume pack, but I can’t find it until I run a search for it.The download page is empty.I had the pre-orderd super classic pack for it,but I deleted the game data for this & still nothing.

  • Great update.

I’m much happier under PS+. I was always in the “I want that game but it’s priced just a couple of bucks to high” group.

Now I’m getting plenty of free games that I never bought but wanted too, plus lots of discounts on other games.

Very happy with PS+ so far… do NOT let PS+ support go down hill…

    Thanks!

  • Still hoping for Suikoden II on PSN!

  • Woohoo – a new table for Zen Pinball – the best Pinball game around. Very happy with that. I’m also happy that more PS1 games are being released – although none are what I’m interested in (Intelligence Qube and Chrono Cross are what I want).

But as for the PSP releases. All I’ll say is I am really glad that I never got a GO. The continued lack of support for this device by way of either new games or older games being placed on the PSN speaks volumes.

  • yo sid or jeff

DId thor the mini psp game come out yet? I been looking for it inthe psn store..

On to anothr topic.. I dont care whatt time they update. As long as the do update..ITs not life or death, hell i rather keep money than spend. but thats just me, people..

  • hey Sony thank you for the bunch of psone classic, so any plan to release on the psone classic:
    Tarzan
    Strider 2
    Twisted Metal 1
    Twisted Metal 3
    Twisted Metal 4
    Tomba or Tombi 1
    Tomba or Tombi 2
    Crash Team Racing?

  • I have to agree with #51 – Capcom charging $18.00 for 100 KB worth of data is absolutely ridiculous. Wow…just wow. They must be off their GD rocker.

Granted, they are my favorite game developer, but could they be any more greedy with some of their business practices?!!

On a side note, whomever updates the blog post should probably change the file size of that Section 8 demo…I doubt it’s just under 4 MB in size.

And is it me, or do the PSN+ users seem to think they should get free or near-free content EVERY week?

  • Nice update! I’ve never played Siphon Filter, so it’ll be nice to finally get to go back and see where it all started. ANY crash bandicoot game from the PS1 era is worth $3. That’s an awesome deal.

First I want to say to Grace, PLEASE allow yourself one hour of time after each update to talk to and respond to those of us who patiently await the blog post every week. This would be a great act of customer service and I think a lot of the entitled whininess would go away, and people would act more civil, if you would spend some time interacting with people.

Secondly, to those who want an exactly timed PS Store Update, you just have to move on. This will only lead to one of two things happening. 1 – the store update comes late and you get angry. 2 – the store update sucks because they didn’t meet the deadline and you get angry. Just be happy that it comes at all. If you don’t have all day to check, you probably don’t have all day to download all the cool stuff that just came out, so check back when you have the time to download stuff, and hopefully it will be up by then.

    PT2 coming…

  • PT 2.

Anyone who says that the people who post this content should get fired really need to go get a job similar to this one, so they can experience firsthand how this whole blog and store update goes together. otherwise you don’t know what you’re talking about and you need to stop talking about of your..well..you get the picture. My job requires me to have all of my work completely by the end of business day Friday. Period. Should I be fired because my customers don’t have their shipping documents by 3pm every Friday? Not hardly..and if you think so, you do not belong in the work force because your expectations of people are highly unrealistic.

  • Let’s see here I already own Critter Crunch. Its a great game and a lot easier than it used to be before the patch. Lots of replay value.

I’ve had Syphon Filter for awhile thanks to Qore. I think thats how I got it.

    Free minis are always nice.

Not really sure how I feel about the SSF4 avatar bundle (but its nice to know I can pick it up for $5 as a PS+ subscriber) when I was expecting the Costume bundle. I’ve looked all over the store and its not there.

Kane & Lynch isn’t that great. Don’t care for Madden and never will. Downloading the Section 8 demo now. I already own flower. Great game. People should downloaded the demo and give it a try.

Game videos are nice to watch.

I don’t really see anyone buying Piyotama for PSP. I have it on PSN and I never play it. Maybe if it had trophies I would. There are just so many better puzzle games out right now.

Is there any word on when PixelJunk 2nd Lap is going live?

  • @gnordy

I think of it this way. If I really want something now I just buy it.

I’m not going to hold myself hostage months and years on the off chance that something will hit the discount or free list.

I think the reality is that the people who buy anything that even remotely interests them as soon as it comes out are not really the target market sony is trying to capture with ps+ in the first place.

  • wow huge amount of content for 1 week, good times to be a gamer, a gamer+ that is

  • fuzzyclutter  |  July 27th, 2010 at 5:23 pm people who sit in front of their ps3′s all day waiting for updates typically dont have jobs (nor lives ) let alone have any knowledge of this biz . and the fact that whether games comes out at noon or 4: 00 PM has such a impact on you is a great testament of how shallow and empty you have allowed your life to become … do something with yourselves .

And you don’t see the irony of you posting this on the… wait for it… playstation blog. Congratulations! You don’t have life as well. Welcome to the rest of us. Also, I work from 6am to 3pm, and i’ll check the store when ever I want and complain if I have to, or did you forget that we CAN comment (complain or not).

  • Quit it with the ****ing US Only updates. There is no reason why themes have to be US Only.

Sony, you are really eating it this year with your LOUSY PSN offerings, not to mention these limited PS Plus updated.

Don’t be surprised next year when your subscribership goes down to nothing after you botched your only chance at competing with XBL.

    Pathetic.

  • Ah, yet another fine update, thanks guys. Really looking forward to perhaps trying out Section 8 at last and the Disney PS1 titles should keep the kids happy for a while.

Great updates on a regular basis like this are why my 360 does nothing but gather dust anymore.

  • Very nice update, finally some decent PSOne games. This is what you need to keep up.

  • Just picked up Piyotama for the PSP. Had I known the game played like a refined Battle Balls (aka Mezase! Senkyuuoh) I would have picked up the PS3 version long ago…

  • While I never comment on these things, I just want to let whoever is reading this at Sony, this was a great update. You’re all doing an awesome job, and all of these people complaining must be mentally challenged. Keep it up.

  • This is what I was afraid of when I got ps+. Bought Critter Crunch a while back. Hopefully next month will be something I don’t have already

  • The non-stop complaining is embarrassing guys. Save the energy and start stressing about something more substantive.

  • “Super Street Fighter IV PSN Avatar Bundle ($4.99) (Exclusive to PlayStation Plus Subscribers)”

Who’s bright idea was it to shrink the customer base by removing content from PSN and make it exclusive to Plus subscribers? What do I mean? Well, if I were on XBL, I would be able to purchase anything without having to be a paid subscriber. The benefits of the paid subscription are exclusive features, demos and beta access. Not merchandise. I don’t have to pay money to spend my money.

Any content that has a price should be available to EVERYONE. Plus user or not. If you want to offer DLC in the form of games, demos, beta invites, game add-ons, etc, then you better damn well make sure the content is truly exclusive to Playstation Plus users. I mean it better not be available to everyone on XBL but only Plus users on PSN.

The second I start to see s**t disappearing from PSN or the Store because I’m not a Plus subscriber… all my Sony labeled possessions will be on ebay or in the trash.

You pull some stupid pathetic crap like this avatar bulls**t again, to inflate value in a service hurting for better content, I’m f**king DONE with Sony. Not just PlayStation, SONY.

  • Thank you for this great update, Grace! However, as a Playstation Plus subscriber, I feel that we should have been given a discount off the already reduced price of Section 8 and Blast Factor. You’re not making a very compelling case for being a Playstation Plus subscriber with the poor variety and selection of options for us. Please make sure to do a much better job next week.

Let’s see Zen Pinball and Pain available either free or a very reduced price for Playstation Plus subscribers.
