  • Rented and watched Hot Tub Time Machine….

    … FROM CANADA! What uuuuuuup!

  • Im happy that the canadians are getting the video store. They wanted it ever since I can remember. Ro(assuming that you always reply to our posts), can you tell me when we will get the netflix app for the ps3? It was said to be coming in the middle of 2010, but we still don’t have it.

  • Don’t have access to the Video Store, but I felt like gracing Grace’s post with my prescence. :)

  • Some PS+ free movie will be nice ^_^

  • So, no closed-captioning or subtitling options? How come? Don’t tell me you are looking into this matter… But the question is: How long will you continue to look into this matter and ACTUALLY TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN FOR US? That is what I’d like to know… it has been – what?- since 2007 you mentioned you were looking into this matter…

  • Seconds on that emiru69 :)

  • @5 Are subtitles going to be the new “BRING THE VIDEO STORE TO CANADA!!! >:(“

  • Any chance Turner Classic Movies will get a channel on the video store?

  • Mexico?

  • I am not real familiar with the content in the US Video Store. Will Canada’s Video Store updates be the same as the US one? ie: will these weekly posts apply to us Canadians now? Thanks!

  • @10

I believe it will update at the same time considering we currently have all the movies/shows available on the list above.

  • digital copy vouchers still don’t work for me after the video store arrived… :(

  • aw, I can’t find Futurama in the Canadian PS video store.

  • Futurama doesn’t even air on Regular TV in Canada I dont think.

Grace, you need to single handedly get Futurama in Canada for us.

  • bring the video store to canada!

LOL kidding :P thanks again sony for bringing it over here, i love the selection!

  • @11, Well, I didn’t see Book of Eli to rent in the Canadian Video Store when I was looking earlier. I guess it’s purchase-only?

  • I would like to echo the request for subtitles, and also for foreign movies, the original audio to go with it… I’m extremely disappointed that films like Chocolate only came with the English dub

  • The occasional free Sony Pictures movie for PS+ users would be a good idea.

  • Have to agree that a discount or free rental for PS+ would be nice. Also, I don’t think the movies are the same for US and Canada. Went looking for Terminator: Salvation and couldn’t find it in rentals or own although it is listed on the US PS website.

  • 25$ +tax for 1 digital copy…
    No thanks!
    good try…

i’ll continue to buy YOUR SONY movies at Walmart then for the Real Casing and real Blu-Ray contnent + Multi audio and multi subtitles
    for even cheaper…

if at least we could watch it on 5 Playstation 3.
but you retricted us to 1.
    bad “Move”

  • First, has there EVER been a free movie on the Video Store for U.S.?

Second, yeah, I am just not interested in buying video on my PS3. I can only use it on my PS3 or (maybe) PSP. If I buy on iTunes, I can use it on any computer, or iPod/iPhone/iPad. I choose the latter.

  • hot tub time machine was funnier than i originally thought

  • I’m happy that the video store is out now in Canada, but where are the Quebec movies? Just Hollywood movies? :(

  • I was excited till I saw no showtime on the Canadian store :( I want my Dexter and Penn & Teller!

  • @ 14

Futurama airs evey night on Teletoon

  • thanks again from Canada , just wondering though why so many are only available for rent in HD but for purchase it’s sd only . is this to make us buy on blu-ray ? considering buying sd movies on dvd is half the price of a download this might be a bad business plan .

  • In the Canadian video stores, some movie’s image are in french, others are in english. Does this have anything to do with the language of the film or they are all in english?

  • Took long enough and judging from these comments its far from perfect.

  • Does Canada get the same updates as the US? Like content and same day?

  • First… thank you Sony for bringing the video store to Canada!

Second, if the Canada store has the same content as the U.S. one, then I sure hope we get some expansion. I was actually kind of shocked at how little was there.

Third, (and my main point for posting)… Please push the studios on the pricing! (I’m guessing this is more the studio’s fault than Sony’s). The ‘buy a movie’ prices are kind of crazy. Pay MORE for a movie that I have to figure out how to store and backup, at a lower quality, just for the convenience of not having to go to a physical store? Sorry, that just isn’t going to fly.

And, the TV show prices are even more nuts. I was really hoping to subscribe to a few TV shows my wife and I watch, but not at these prices. IMO, $0.99 would be MAXIMUM price anyone would pay for an episode, and hopefully reduced from that (per episode) for a season subscription (couldn’t find that option either).

So, again… thanks for bringing this. I’m sure I’ll be watching movies from it soon. However, please pass on to the studios that if they want to actually get serious about selling movies, or renting TV shows, they need to engage their brains when thinking about pricing.

  • #27, if tiyr ps3 and playstation store is in english, all movies will be in english, and if your console and store are in french, everything will be in french.

Anyway, you can see the audio track of the movie at the buy information page (the page where you can watch the trailers as well)

  • ThreeLeggedFreak

More catalog tv shows and movies
Ability to buy whole tv seasons for a discounted price
    subtitle options

  • Comic store + canada = in 3 yrs time on ps3???

  • @31
There are several older anime available only with original audio and English subtitles on the US PSN, but I haven’t seen any current films (or anime) with multiple audio tracks or subtitles available.

  • first of all . its cool canadians can get videos now . but something EVERYBODY has to understand is that SCEA DOES NOT OWN THESE VIDEOS , they only have rights to distribute , in order to maintain those rights , they can only distribute under the conditions set forth by the video supplier . So it can be expected that some vendors may choose not to have their content distributed outside the united states or only distributed under certain display formats and other conditions . it is not within SCEA’ power to do whatever they want with whatever video they want

  • @31
My PS3 is in english but the PS Store is in french. I hate games and movies in french. I don’t know why my PS Store is in french, but I can read it so I never cared about it.

  • LaunchpadMcQuac9

Ok where to start? 1 yeah cool we finaly got the video store !!!!!!!!always love new content on my ps3. 2 wow the prices are nuts! maybe if im snowed in,no sat signal,i’ll rent from the ps3 video store . 3 you can watch tv shows online for free useing you’re ps3 why pay per episode? 4 OMG bitch bitch bitch comon people just be happy u got something

  • While I like the rental prices since they’re cheaper / competitive with the Video on Demand that my local tv company offers, the own prices are kind of insane. $20 for a movie when I could buy the Blu-ray version for the same price? Yikes.

This is why people feel movie companies are so behind the times and just are out to gouge people. Why is the DIGITAL COPY the same price as a physical copy that also comes with a case and physical disc?

  • Hooray for Canada !

  • There aren’t many tv shows. I wanted Dexter, It’s Effin Science and a couple others. I mean, those two air in Canada, you just have to pay extra for them through cable provider. Hopefully you guys will eventually expand it.
    Also, the prices are kinda….pricey.

  • Superstrokey1123

Bought 2 eps of Alien Astronauts for 1.99 each. Not bad i gotta say. I enjoy that you can play the program as it downloads. So far it seems good to me. I dont care that i can only dl it to one of my ps3s however. I have 2 and wish it could somehow be extended so both could have the media I bought.

  • i love modnation racers

  • Not all the stores get the same content.

  • I rike it. :P

  • The new format for the video update blog is pretty useless.

  • I Know This is a “little” off topic but…
in the psstore there is suduko go(Full) and then 4 others so if you download on of the other 4 you will only get the easy, medium, devious and hard suduko, depending on which one you choose. correct?
I Tried to download suduko go (Easy) and i paid then it downloaded as an add on and now i cant play it.
is this supposed to be an add on or a bit of the game!?
i live in EU, but the EU Blog wont let me comment

  • hot tub time machine, i love their slogan…

  • Sure would be nice to be able to buy entire TV seasons without so many clicks… It’s almost impossible. I guess no one is worried about it because TV episode prices are so high.

Hey, how about a discount price for the whole season of a show?
