Allow us to get your week on track, PlayStation.Blog readers. SOUNDtrack, that is. SIGNED soundtrack, even. That’s right, we’ve got 10 soundtracks graced by the pen/magic marker/writing instrument of one Shoji Meguro, master composer of games like Persona 3 and Persona 4, and we’re giving them away. Here. Just to you folks.
“How do I enter?” you inquire, leaning forward in excitement. Easy! Just tell us what you’re most excited about regarding the upcoming P3P as a comment under this post. Maybe it’s the fact that you can take one of the highest rated RPGs of all time on the road now? Or the cast of memorable characters you just can’t get enough of? Or the dating sim elements? The fantastic music? The great art? The addicting gameplay? The original story?
10 lucky winners will be randomly (or as close to randomly as possible) chosen and sent a SIGNED soundtrack CD. Only North American residents are eligible to win, however. It’s not that we don’t love you rest-of-the-world’ers; we just want to focus this giveaway on the region in which the game is actually releasing.
Why are we doing this? Well, we’d love to use this opportunity to remind you that:
- a) Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable, Atlus’s upcoming handheld RPG epic, is right around the corner, releasing in stores and via PlayStation Network on July 6th.
- b) It features one of the best soundtracks ever, and in order to further emphasize that point, we want to give a few of those soundtracks away. SIGNED.
In case you all are a bit unfamiliar with the P3P soundtrack, perhaps we should share a sample with you:

“The music seems awesome,” you say, pensively prodding your chin with your finger, “but I’m not guaranteed to win it. I just wish there was some cool bonus with Persona 3 Portable that I was guaranteed to receive.”
Funny you’d say that, because there’s still time to pre-order your copy of Persona 3 Portable at a participating retailer (GameStop and Amazon in the United States and Canada) and receive a collectible Junpei Baseball Cap. It’s modeled after the one he wears in the game!
“Wow, they’re sure giving us a lot of physical awesome to celebrate the release of the game, but what about the game itself?” you muse aloud to no one in particular, gently tapping your pointer fingers together in front of your mouth.
We’ve already told you in previous posts about how Persona 3 Portable puts you in the shoes of a team of gifted high schoolers forced to use their developing supernatural abilities to save the world from destruction, and how the game cleverly mixes addicting RPG dungeon crawling with social sim elements. And how the PSP system release introduces a new female protagonist who experiences the events of the game from a new perspective, not to mention the addition of one-button menu shortcuts, a streamlined user interface, and more.
We’d say more about the game, but really, why not let others speak for us? Early reviews are in, Blog readers, and they’re glowing:

I’ve never played P3 and don’t own a PS2. But I have a PSP and P3P sounds awesome. I’m excited to play it for the first time.
Persona 3 was my favorite game on the PS2. I’ve had this pre ordered since April and can’t wait to dive into the new social links. Also you can’t beat RPGs on a handheld.
The way the story advances and how it mixes with the gameplay is what makes it one of the greatest games ever made. The S-Links are an amazing gameplay element that lets you get to know your friends better, and the better you know your friends, the stronger your personas will be. That combined with this amazing music and the beautiful art make this one of the best games around.
Funnily enough, I’m most interested in the game because of the soundtrack, which seems to have a lot of new material in it!
This would be awesome!
Ah to say what is exciting about the new P3P. For one female protagonist = happiness, that plus it’s portable. I’m looking forward to it, this is my first time playing P3 so I have great expectations. ああ、ワクワク、ドキドキ。
The best part about the upcoming persona game is its portable. So I can play it wherever whenever.
Thank you very much for holding this contest! :)
I’m looking forward to about every added aspect of the portable version of Persona 3, but the one that I’m anticipating the most is the female protagonist route, and how much was added and/or different for her route. Makes sense, as I’m a female player.
In close second is controllable party members. I actually got excited and had my heart flutter, reading some descriptions of buffing and debuffing strategies you now could use in battle. If that doesn’t scream NERD! I don’t know what does.
Looking forward to new playable character!
You know, I never even finished Persona 3 on the PS2. But somehow, I always manage to finish long RPGs on handhelds. Can’t say why… It doesn’t make sense to me.
So, what I am looking forward to is actually playing through to the end of P3P this time around. Of course, playing as the female protaganist and all that other new stuff is sure cool too! XD
I have wanted to replay P3 for a while and this is a great opportunity to do so. I’m definitely looking forward to replaying the game through the new (female) perspective. Perhaps best of all will be the new soundtrack to listen to on the way to work.
I’m really excited that its portable. I’ve always wanted to play p3 on the go. It’s like one of my dreams come true.
To be honest, I’m excited about the release of P3P because I’ll finally get around to playing it. The game has been on my to-buy/to-play list but never found the time to do so. Being able to chip away at the game on the go(PSPgo) a few minutes a day is what gets me all rattled up inside around THIS section, right here!
I dig my PSP for that very reason, being able to continue my childhood addiction of RPGs without having to set aside time to entertain it.
I’m most excited about being able to play the game on the Go. Maybe I’ll actually finish the game this time.
I’m looking forward to finally finish this game. This game’s soundtrack reminds me of my life in high school and brings back good memories.
I cant wait to play as the female main character, and mess around with as many guys as possible!
Honestly, this game has had me super excited for quite some time. Both the female protagonist and the portability appeal to me. I’ve played through both P3 and P3FES, and I love them to death. Even 4 was amazing, though 3 will hold a special place in my heart, which is why I am going to pick this up. 3 days before my birthday, it’s gonna be awesome! *goes to camp out and wait.* If only I had P3P so I would have something to camp out with…
Most definitely looking forward to the new and updated events. I cannot wait to meet Yukiko.
I’m excited that I won’t be referred to as a “he” in the game anymore.
I’m so excited to be able to play one of my favorite console games on the go! Now I don’t have to wait for the television to be free in order to play, but I can whenever, and of course there’s the Female Protagonist and her relationships and how she affects the story! Everything about the Persona series is incredible, especially Persona 3, and I haven’t found many other RPGs that I like as much.
I reserved a copy as soon as I found I could months ago, and I’ve been anxiously awaiting this to come to America- so I can’t believe it’s almost here!
I look forward to adding this to my collection of Persona titles. I look forward to both having the title on the go, but I have always enjoyed much of the Persona music as well. The sweet looking official Junpei cap is just the icing on the cake…
Even though I almost beat the game twice, as m PS3 managed to erase my 70ish hour save, I’d still go through it again, especially because of your party social links. It was one of my favorite features about Persona 4 and I thought it developed the characters well, so I’d like to see how it works in P3P.
Also Junpei’s hat is awesome, even though it might not fit my woefully oversized head.
P3P looks great, from what I heard in the sample it sounds like they are sticking to their routes.
I am very excited for the game.
Thanks.
I want this because I’m a Megami Tensei Fan and I must have every game , anddddd of course The ability to Play as a Girl ……….ok enough talk! Give me my Soundtrack !!!!! I love Shoji Meguro Music
Im looking forward to playing as the mecha girl in it, because i wasnt able to get persona 3 FES when it originally came out on PS2
Why am I excited about this game? I’m probably going to be lol’d at when I explain why.
I’m looking forward to this game not only because it enthralled me my entire Senior year of High School, because the storyline is captivating or because I can relate to certain characters..
But for the love of God, I want this game most so that I can try to save Shinjiro.. I’m 20 years old now and replayed through the story of Persona 3 [The Journey], and sobbed when Shinji was shot..
Let me start off with saying that the Persona series has been very interesting to following from its initial launch in the states on PS1.
The interaction models provided in the game along with the music have been my favorite aspects. I am most excited to see the new commentary on the story line for our new herione. It will provide enough of a fresh view for replaying the game on the PSP while exploring the other new features.
As an additional note.. I would still like to see Atlus bring over a repackaged version of persona 2 that includes both Eternal Punishment and Innocent Sin (not released in the US). It should put some good $$ in Atlus’s pocket and will put some good smiles on their customers! :)
Aside from missing The Answer from P3FES (I’m still only partway through The Journey), perhaps the best things are ease of navigation. Having a cursor instead of a movable person may be a slight jip, but you could get things down easier, with that only enhanced by a greater availability of save points, so you can trial-&-error without so much redoing.
Otherwise, seeing a girl character’s social interactions, especially with your teammates, seems neat, and off course being able to control those same teammates in battle.
tl;dr The game will be so much easier to “do” in.
Im most excited for Persona 3 psp for a couple reasons.
1. I love the dating mechanic in the 3rd game and I loved dating Fukka most of all. but deep down I wanted to date Akihiko senpei. and with this game I am pumped to be able to do so.
2. the battle system movie to more like how persona 4 plays has me all kinds of happy.
also I am a huge fan of the series, I have persona 2 for ps1, persona 3 special edition, p3 fes, and persona 4, I am a huge shin fan I also have digital devil saga, nocturn, and devil summoner 1-2. I love the music to these games as well so I am hoping my thoughts get picked, I am pumped to hear the new score for the game by Shōji Meguro. Im not holding my breath for it but i have had this game on pre-order paid off since its announcement. and I would love the soundtrack as well!
I’m totally looking forward to burning my dread on break from class/work, on my way home on the bus, at home and any other waking moment! I must truly thank my girlfriend, she got me into this series hardcore. (And I am now eagerly waiting for my Audio-Technica ATH-EM7 GM headphones >_>;; Because Minato–err, the protagonist’s headphones are way too awesome…)
Playing as the female protagonist of course–dating Shinji (he doesn’t get enough love!)– and finally ending all my musing as to what will be done for her in the case of the Operation Babe Hunt at Yakushima and the hot springs at Kyoto…
I am also extremely pleased at being able to control your party members and befriending them so that they will DIE FOR YOU–take a mortal blow for you. This also probably means that there won’t be any more “Mitsuru! Heal me! I’m dying!” “MARIN KARIN~ 8D” “Death is not a hunter unbeknownst to its prey . . . But alas, my guest’s life has now ended, his tale left unwritten”
JUNPEI HAT! 8D He’s way too awesome…but boy, do I feel sorry for him by the end of the game =/ It must suck to be of the Magician’s Arcana in the SMT series *looks at Yosuke*
Persona 3 was an amazing game. Having it on the go and with additional content can only make it better. I’d have to say that the female perspective should be of most interest to me. I’ve already logged a few hundred hours on the PS2, a few more on the PSP shouldn’t hurt.
I can’t wait to play Persona 3 for the 3rd time again now with P3P. I’ve had my game (and hat) pre-ordered the day it went up on gamestop, and I intend to give both plenty of mileage. Part of why I find the Persona/Shin Megami Tensei series so addicting isn’t just the gameplay; the music engulfs you into the world. Shoji Meguro is one of the greatest (if not greatest) composer to ever hit the gaming industry (sorry Masashi Hamauzu). I own plenty of his OSTs already and they never get old. Soul Phrase and Time are my favourite tracks from the new OST, I must have played Time on repeat at least 300 times by now; it’s the new Living With Determination. Music aside, I can’t wait to play as a girl and date that dreamboat Akihiko.
P3 was and is a truly unique game that ties two very different genres – dating sim RPG and dungeon-crawler RPG – together. Now that it is on PSP with its enhancements, the combination of these genres are even better than before. Along with new female led (and the extra music and story associated with it) I believe that P3P will be able to provide a whole new level of enjoyment.
I’ve been wanting to play this game again for some time. My PS3 lacks Backwards Compatibility and my PS2 is out of commission as I lack a controller.
Also quite interested in trying to play as the female main character.
I never actually finished the game before, so just the game period. Also I’m quite curious to see how the streamlined interface plays.
Besides being able to take persona with me where ever I go, instead of having to abandon it at home every time I would need to venture outside my house, I’m most looking forward to playing a female protagonist, and seeing the changes that makes.
I’m looking forward to getting that spicy looking hat and playing the game once again with a different protagonist. Had the game preordered as soon as I heard about it. Need to get my P3P on!
To be honest what I’m really looking forward too aside from the fact I can play Persona 3 on the go is the female protagonist and all the different store elements they added for her. Another thing I’m really excited about are the connections made to Persona 4, Speaking of Persona 4 the massively improved battle system from it is going to be in P3P that alone will make this game a totally new and more fulfilling experience!
Only a few weeks left!!!
I’m most interested in seeing what the storyline is like with a female main character.
I just started getting into the whole SMT franchise, but I feel that I can truly say that the series has really re-defined my interests in RPGs. All the games provide a unique take on music, action, and interactive [gothic] story, that it seems like reading a book, and in more than a sense I can immerse myself in each universe. Specifically for Persona 3 and 4, I’ve never experienced such a unique take on RPG mechanics and design, and in the previous years that I’ve researched the game (when I didn’t have them), I’ve only wanted them more and more. Right now, I’m playing P4 and am [unsuccessfully] trying to find a P3FES…
For P3P, I’m really looking forward to playing with the new female main character, although I’ll probably start off with the male. I’m also interested on how a portable version of Persona stands against the console version, though, I’m sure that I’ll enjoy them both regardless of pros and cons. Music as always been great; Shoji Meguro has never let me down (Trauma Center love, people!) so I have no problem there.
Thanks for reading/picking!
This is off topic a bit, but shooting myself in the head will be the most innovative thing I have ever seen/done in my life. I expect to do that a lot.
I am most excited about the new female protagonist, as I have played the original Persona 3 game on the PS2 with the male protagonist a few times as a girl and the dating social links were a little awkward for me, but not enough to affect my love for the game =)
Also the little changes to the plot are great, plus the fact that this is a PSP game justifies me getting a PSP finally.
I’m not going to pre-order, because the hat doesn’t really interest me that much, so I will probably wait until the prices drops a little before getting my copy.
I am most excited to be able to play such an awesome game once again, since I so graciously gave the PS2 to my son (Can’t really complain though, I got a PS3 outta the deal…). Being able to take it along with me, while wearing a nifty new hat is an extra added bonus. I have to admit that I’m looking forward to the new battle system and the addition of the female protagonist to change things up also. I foresee my PSP getting more play than it ever has before.
I’m pretty sure I’ll be second waifu to my boyfriend for a month when he plays this game, hahaha. FeMC, I’M WATCHING YOU.
I’m always pleased to get the newest persona games as they came out. not only is the music in the persona games amazing but so very soothing.(persona 3 and 4’s soundtracks are always on my playlist be it winamp or mp3 player.) And I’ve heard that ps3p is going to have even more new music! (thank you Mr Shōji Meguro, you are truely a god among video game composers). I’ve had the good fortune to enjoying the persona series since 3, I love the series so much that I’ve not only enjoyed ps3 fes but was pleased at my chance to go back and try out the orignal persona on the psp with it’s rerelease last year. and the year prior to that I got lucky enough to find an unopened copy of persona 2 to play. that wonderful experience was only dwarfed by the release of persona 4 that same year, Truly you bless us atlus. but I’m really excited to come back to this classic and see what new suprises I will see with our new female hero at the helm. and enjoy yet a new masterpiece of and old treasure. here’s hoping no one misses out on this wonderful game this round. keep up the good work!
Portable Persona 3 only makes the game even more amazing than when it was on PS2. Especially with the new tweaks such as being able to play as a female main character and being able to control your party during battles (makes the game a little easier than having say… Junpei wasting all his HP using special attacks when you don’t want him to)
Because it burns my dread, duuuh!!
Best RPG on the PS2 goes handheld, most excited about playing as the new female character! Pure awesome!
Third time buying persona 3, special editions every time. Bought the original Revelations: Persona the day it came out.
Well, there’s a lot of things I’m looking forward to in this remake of Persona 3, but one thing in particular is the change-up of the style to a Persona/Persona 2 look. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore the style of Persona 3, but it’ll be neat to be playing it in a new light.
I’m also stoked to see some of the improvements from Persona 4 implemented in P3. And like most, it’ll be neat to see the game from a different perspective– that of the female protagonist, but I’m not sure I’m mentally prepared for the shift in social links.
Anyway, I’m super glad this is coming over. I never thought we’d get FES after the initial release of P3, but thankfully I was proven wrong. Great job!
What I look forward to for Persona 3 Portable? The ability to play it anywhere since its on the PSP.
