Digital Comics Store Update

18 0

As you heard earlier this week we have a new publisher, plus a new version of the Reader and 102 new comics including 5 free comics.

If you didn’t get a chance to read about our new publisher, the mighty DC Comics, check out the announcement post, watch the video and then come back. I’m sure everyone is thrilled and happy as we are to have them join the Digital Comics team.

The other news this week was the release of version 2 of the Digital Comics reader. This version offers a whole host of tweaks requested by you guys, including the ability to delete comics directly through the application. This post details all the new features and how to upgrade.

So let’s take a look at some of the highlights now on the store:

From DC Comics we have over 80 comics featuring well-known characters. Catch up with Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Fables and more.

Also DC released a 10 page free preview of Superman #700 and Justice League Generation Lost #4 the same day they are hitting the shops. Let’s hope this trend continues.

  • Cool, I’m first. I’m never first.
Anyway looks like a nice little addition. Time to scoop up some comics.

  • ive actually never really seen them, Since there are free ones i think ima check them out

  • Thanks for DC comics and videogame IPs, for that I’ll rank this a 5. I would like more motion comics like Uncharted Eye of Indra though please.

  • Will anyone ever update where things are for getting the comics store in different regions in the world that don’t have access yet?

  • COOL!!! free stuff ;D

  • Yesssss! Dc comics is in the house.Keep new comics hitting the same day as the store.

  • Too early to ask for another publisher/artist? How about getting some Jeff Smith/Cartoon Books in here. Class the place up with Bone and RASL.

  • Solid-Snake-Eyes

    Canada Canada Canada

  • Can not find this anywere in the playstation store….. Why is that????

  • Yes! Thank you for the God of War update still waiting on some Silver Surfer.

  • AWESOME!!!!

I’m loving the free comics! If I like the Mirror’s Edge free comic sample, I’ll purchase the rest of them! Same with the Resistance comics! =)

And the update to the reader is GREAT! You guys really do listen! That’s awesome! Now the only thing people will complain about with the comic reader is that there’s no Manga on the store! But, once you guys get Manga available on the Playstation Store, all the complaining will DRASTICALLY lower! ^_^

I’m really excited now! haha Thank you for the GREAT update!

  • dc joint the party a little l8 =1

  • Thanks for all the great FEE comics.

The only thing still missing from the COMICS store is a library of comics collected from the Free Comic Book Days of years past including this 2010’s. If you could add such a section to have even more free comics(with ads if necessary, like DC’s Wildstorm had for its free comics at the end or throughout the book if needed to cover costs). This would help increase the variety of sample comics. I have already bought at least one comic, and I am looking to buy more soon.

Also, if you can add a section for comic books with audio that would be great, unless your Staff Pick collection from Templeton is the one ones?

    – Hmmm, nmaybe I should post these wants to the Blog share?

  • whooooa when did i miss that they started putting sweet ass comics up like Fables and GL?

    too bad i don’t have psp…

  • When is the rest of Cancertown coming out? And Vol. 5 is listed, but not available.

  • Is the PSP Digital Comic format portable to any other device (iPad, PS3, PC)? I assume the format is proprietary. My only real concern with the PSP digital comic format is one of forward thinking and larger displays.

First, how long will the PSP be around? If the format was portable/convertible to the PC, it will guarantee my purchases for years to come.

Second, the PSP is nice, but for comics it would really be nice to see them on a larger display (iPad or PC). Any such options now or in the near future?

  • I’m really loving the Snakewoman series. How come the God of War issue #1 isn’t free? It looks like its going to be cool but I’d love to have a little taste before I buy. Hopefully PS Plus will have more free comics. I’d just like to see all the issue #1’s as free demo comics is all.

  • Pretty please bring Digital Comics to Canada!
