Gran Turismo 5, Now With More Nürburgring

123 0

Hey, everyone. Taku Imasaki here with a bit of Gran Turismo 5 news. If you saw our website this morning, then you already know about the news.

If you’re a true racing fan, you know that Nürburgring is a world-renowned racing complex in Nürburg, Germany.

It’s known for being extremely challenging, a grueling testing ground for even the most seasoned race drivers and the most highly tuned performance cars. It’s home of various world-famous races including the Nürburgring 24 Hours race, and used as a testing ground for bleeding-edge performance cars by companies like GM, Dodge, Nissan, Lexus, and Ferrari.

Gran Turismo 5: Nurburgring

In the words of Mr. GT, Kazunori Yamauchi himself, “For a car enthusiast, the Nürburgring is the equivalent to what places like the “Eiger Nordwand” or “Mount Everest” means to a mountaineer. There is that special allure about it that you just can’t explain in words.”

Nürburgring is definitely a favorite among GT fans, and I’m excited to share with you that Gran Turismo 5 will feature its three courses: the Grand Prix course, the Nordschleife, and the Nürburgring 24 Hours course. As you can see from these screenshots, these courses have been beautifully recreated. Check out the other five brand new screenshots here.

And if you happen to be in Germany this weekend for the Nürburgring 24 Hours endurance race, you’ll be able to check them out on a brand new GT5 demo we have on display there to commemorate this world-famous race event.

We’re getting close to E3, so be sure to watch the official GT website and the PlayStation.Blog here for the latest news on Gran Turismo 5.

  • Have a hard time getting excited for this game anymore. Been too long since announcement! Looks beautiful though.

  • Can’t view photos… listed as private

  • Not that much new info, but I want to see this “new” demo they’re talking about. Hopefully there will be a release date at E3.

  • Please have a release date a E3. The game looks amazing.

  • Hard to believe Prologue is already over 2 years old. GT5 is looking great as usual though! It would be nice if we could get weekly GT5 blog posts…

  • Seriously though, we need a steady stream of new information. The development team hasn’t been clear about any of the information released so far. Some of us would really like some clarity. Just pretend you haven’t discussed the game yet and start from scratch.

  • I believe i’ll start the charge here:

    Release the damn game!!

  • Release the damn game! This is torture!

  • tacitassassin25

yes McLaren F1, I was hoping they would put that car in this game

  • agreed with PhrygianX. I was avoiding the NFS franchise it hopes of GT5’s release, but got tired of waiting so EA got my cash. If Polyphono releases to close to Sony “Move” they may loose ground to new hardware and title releases, but it’s not like they release a title every year or anything so they’ll have time to play catch up if that is the case.

  • Will there be a release date soon?

  • My #1 wanted game just got better ^_^

  • Fans, Now with less patience

We want this game already… I want to drive at night when its raining on that map with the lights in the trees like a bat out of hell again…

  • Great. So whens the game coming out?

  • Good thing you posted this, I don’t think the Eyepet was gonna live much longer.

  • JoshuaGYoungEsq

Give us an accurate release date or don’t post things like this.

  • GT5 blowout at E3 then…

  • Will there be car damage or will it be like playing bumper cars?

  • The game looks great but man, the trackside trees still look like a cardboard cutout tree you would get in a McDonalds Happy Meal. I know, I know. This is a racing game and you shouldn’t be looking at the scenery, but come on! After 6 years in development?

I haven’t seen scenery like that since the PS1 days…

  • So when is GT Forever coming out? ohhh wait that was Duke Nukem Forever. I mistake the two all the time…

  • make the trees look better everthing else looks great but the trees look like crap

  • Release date revealed at E3.

  • …When the hell is this game coming out already… been waiting since 2006 or earlier for this… like some comments above, this game taking way too long, I know the devs are hard working fine tuning the game but if they gonna do that, at least tease us some more every week or something…

  • I have a good idea RELEASE THE GAME ALREADY

  • Will play this, just not the 24hours endurance race (who the hell play those???).
    Release the game!

  • Holy Crap that looks real!!

  • I want a $299 PS3 + GT5 Bundle for October 2010.

  • radiantshadow92

Please, we need a release date.

  • please make sure i can assign the Gas & Brakes to the F1 Shifter Paddles, ive Sim Raced for years like that because im in a wheelchair, i cannot do it on prolouge because i have the Logitech MOMO Wheel and theres no drivers aka “Profile” for it, thanks! I am Dying for this Sim!

  • quit TEASING US! Give us a RELEASE DATE PLEEEEEEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • release date please!!

  • I think I mirror others feelings, this has been coming out for a long time now. Would be nice to have a firm release date.

  • me want release date! hopefully u guys announce the release date on E3

  • Release that demo on the PS Store, NOW.

  • WOWWWW it’s been a long time since i have seen some info on GT5. I’m glad though that there is some hype building up before E3. I just hope that the game actually comes out in 2010. GT is one of the games that created the Playstation brand and revolutionized driving games for millions of players.

I hope E3 finally sheds some light on GT5 considering that these last 3 E3’s have been tooting the horn only to leave players with a bad taste in their mouths regarding GT.

  • This game should be renamed Gran Turismo Forever.

  • Yawn, all I want is a solid Release Date that you’ll stick tho, thx.

Frack, that’s all anyone wants. Keep your “news” to yourself and release the damn thing.

  • Still no Porsches. ! ! I don’t get it.

  • No offense Mr. Imasaki but we dont care ’bout stuff like this, u are no just losing fans by not releasing the game but sales as well… it’ sad

  • Only interested if you can smash your car into stuff and it takes damage. Which I KNOW it won’t. It’s all very well creating a game with the tag line: ‘Real Driving Simulator’ But its not really very REAL if you drive a high performance car into a solid wall of tyres at 100mph and not even receive a scratch to your bumper…

I might wake up when the next “Race Driver: GRID” comes out… that’ll be good….

  • Can’t wait until release this game is going to be huge.

  • Are these screens from the final build? the track looks better and more detailed but the trees… still 2D :\

Why don’t you use MLAA in this game? less jaggies and you would also free the GPU and could make the game look a lot better.. just look at the differences of the God of War 3 demo VS final build … since you are a first party studio you could easily ask Sony Santa Monica for that code or whatever… or you wouldn’t even have to ask them and could just take it :)

Anyway the cars on the other hand looks stunning, best I’ve seen in a game

  • I think if we don’t get a release date on this at E3 we can fairly start calling this game Vaporware.

With how long the development on this has been is it even still possible to make a profit from this game?

  • take your time pd but we want a perfect game

  • Best…racing game… ever

  • I hate to say this, but, for a game to take longer to develop than Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy 13, AND Alan Wake, this game better be the best game ever freaking made!

I am getting REALLY tired of waiting for GT5, and Prologue is OLD now. You should have released add-on content to Prologue to whet our appetites or something during this extremely long wait for GT5.

  • *waves finger* this is not a release date.
